Top Prospect Upperclass: Quick Hits, Infielders

Infielders

Bobby Bastek, SS, 2027, Mount Vernon
It was yet another quality showing from Bastek in the showcase setting to open the summer circuit. Athleticism throughout the lean 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame with tools to project. Started the day by running a quality 7.06 60-yd time (1.65 10-yd). Rhythmic setup at the plate in a balanced load and stays extremely short through the zone with barrel accuracy. Showed the ability to spray the ball to both gaps with ease. Posted a max exit velocity of 91.2. Carried it over with a pair of all-field barrels in gameplay as well. Really slows the game down in the box with strong zone awareness and above-average bat-to-ball skills. Advanced actions in the dirt with bouncy, fluid footwork and lateral quickness. Soft hands and flexibility stand out with excellent glove-to-hand. 76 IF velo across the dirt with accuracy to the bag from multiple slots. It’s a solid floor with plenty more to project in the profile and could be a quality addition to a recruiting class across multiple levels.

Graydon Sellers, 3B/1B, North Gwinnett
The barrel was extremely potent for Sellers across BP as he consistently hammered baseballs to the pull-side with ease. Physicality litters the frame at 6-foot-0, 195-pounds with easy power that shows often. Posted a max 102.5 and an average 97.7 exit velocities to go along with a max distance of 388ft. Quiet actions and stays coiled in his back hip well with very minimal wasted effort in the potent RH cut. Generates strength from the ground-up and shows a direct path to contact with real impact in the barrel while creating easy leverage through the zone. Quality actions in the dirt and finished with an INF velo of 84 MPH. Sellers remains one of the top uncommitted power bats on the market and a summer breakout appears to be well under way.

Jon Walker Brown, 1B/RHP, 2027, Lassiter
Uncommitted. The bat was lively in Browns BP round as the barrel was whipped through the zone with high effort, producing bat speeds in the low to mid 70s and a max EV of 102. The 6-foot-2, 208 pound frame has explosive movements to it as well as present strength in both halves. Alongside the physical and hit upside, Brown works well at 1B with good range around the bag, and holding it. After a good season at Lassiter this year, he looks to continue to bring his slugging bat into summer ball.

Ryan Johansen, MIF, 2027, Buford
Uncommitted. It was one of the more impressive rounds of BP today as Johansen showed a really attractive hit tool. Each ball was hit on a line as he had a clear UTM approach, serving nearly all balls into CF. The feel for the barrel was obvious as the EVs lived in the low 90s. The athletic profile of Johansen fits for a quick moving MIF at 5-foot-8, 155 pounds. The glove is smooth and works well with quality arm strength. Having quality competition over the summer and in HS ball, Johansen looks to continue his development.

Cason Gantt, 1B/RHP, 2027, Sequoyah
Uncommitted. With a strong base at 5-foot-11, 203 pounds, Gantt gets natural juice behind the ball and showed a good ability to work the whole field in his BP round. With a solid upward attack angle, he produced many loud barrels that left the yard, reaching a max distance of 375 feet and a max EV of 96.4. The feel for the barrel and ground-up strength are what profile his hitting approach and ability. Alongside quality results, his bat speed and hands are very quick as well, being in the mid 70s for bat speed. After seeing Gantt a couple times last Spring, his development and hard work are clear.

Reid Dzikowski, 3B/RHP, 2027, Dacula
Uncommitted. Standing at 6-foot-1, and weighing 166-pounds, Dzikowski possesses a projectable frame as he will continue to fill out over this next year. Dzikowski had himself a nice day at the Top Prospect Games. Had a great round of BP where he showcased his well-balanced swing and showed he can hit the ball to all parts of the field. His max EV during BP was 95 MPH and reached a max distance of 362 feet. He showed that he can do this off of live pitching as well, as he hit a homer during the scrimmage after the workout part of the showcase. Stood out on defense with an 87 MPH infield velo and ran a 6.95 60-yard dash. Dzikowski is a player to keep an eye out for this summer as he prepares for his Senior season.

Hudson Chadwick, 1B/OF, Calhoun
Uncommitted. Standing at 6-foot-2, 208 pounds, Chadwick has a physical frame with plenty of projection remaining. He makes the swing look effortless while consistently finding the barrel and staying on plane through contact. There is minimal wasted movement throughout the swing, with a quiet head and balanced movements at the plate. Defensively, Chadwick showed fluid actions with efficient exchanges that maximize his arm strength, handling the position with confidence throughout.

Evan Hollis, SS/2B, 2027, South Effingham
Uncommitted. Hollis has impressed in two looks this year, both in game action and at the showcase. At 6-foot-1, 157 pounds, he possesses a lean, athletic frame with plenty of room to add strength. Defensively, he shows good footwork at shortstop and gets the ball out quickly with good accuracy. He showcased his range in game play, making difficult plays look routine. At the plate, he stays within himself and uses the entire field with sneaky juice to the pull side. The hit tool stands out, with more power likely to come as he continues to get stronger. He utilizes a leg kick that creates good rhythm and balance in the lower half. Hollis lived on the barrel during a strong round of BP, posting a max exit velocity of 97.2 mph and an average exit velocity of 92.5 mph. Overall, the combination of athleticism, defensive actions, and offensive upside makes him an intriguing uncommitted prospect to follow.

Kendall Turner, MIF, 2027, Newton
Uncommitted. Turner had a great all around showcase today. He started his day on BP where he had a max EV of 93.0, with a low hand start with a quality barrel length throughout the whole zone. Defensively, Turner looked very smooth during his infield round. He maintained quick transfers, turning double plays and making good strong throws across the diamond. Then, for his 60 he ran a 7.07 second 60 and a 1.6 10 yard split. He ended his day in the showcase game, where in his first AB he took advantage of a missed FB and drove it over the LF wall for a HR. Having an upcoming summer and high season Turner looks to continue to rise and develop even more.

Luke Adams, 2B/3B, 2027, Gainesville
Uncommitted. Adams had an eye-catching day for the entire event. The glove work stood out during showcase reps and in gameplay. Adams moves well laterally from the 5’11” 185lb frame, especially to the glove side, and utilizes a quick and efficient transfer to deliver throws accurately from different arm angles. The high-level defensive ability stood out during gameplay as he snared numerous GBs from the 6-hole to either complete the 5-3 or prevent runners from advancing. Adams showed incredible body control in the field but at the plate as well. Offensively, Adams posted a max EV of 95.4 and showed the ability to work gap to gap. Also showed the ability to manipulate the barrel and match pitch plane with a hard hit 1B on a breaking ball in gameplay. Intriguing, projectable follow for the summer circuit.
