2026 Arizona Future Games: MVPs & Notable Performances

EMERSON, GA – Arizona prospects across the 2027, 2028, 2030 and 2031 classes took the field at LakePoint Sports for Prep Baseball’s premier national events. From established names producing on the biggest stage to younger players introducing themselves against top competition, each group featured several performances worthy of recognition. Below, we name an MVP from the Senior Future Games, Future Games and Junior Future Games, along with additional players whose performances stood out during their time in Georgia.

Senior Future Games MVP

William Parker OF / RHP / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 37 / POS: 10
Will earned Arizona’s Senior Future Games MVP honors with one of the top offensive performances of the entire event, finishing 6-for-8 with two doubles, a grand slam and nine RBIs in three games. The production was not an outlier, as he hit .426 with 10 home runs during the high school season and continues to find barrels against quality pitching. His line-drive approach, advanced bat-to-ball skills and strength give him the look of a dependable middle-of-the-order bat. The prospect also ran a 6.79 60-yard dash and threw 92 mph from the outfield with a recorded a 1.98 pop time behind the plate, giving him legitimate defensive versatility. Will’s instincts, blue-collar mentality and consistent offensive track record make him one of Arizona’s more under-the-radar 2027 prospects.

Future Games MVP

Chase Fillman OF / LHP / Millennium, AZ / 2028Chase earned Team Arizona’s Future Games MVP honors by showing why he is the top-ranked position player in the state’s 2028 class. The physical 6'1, 224-pound left-handed hitter finished 4-for-9 with two doubles and a home run, consistently handling high-level pitching with bat speed, strength and feel for the barrel. His elite 81 mph bat speed and 106 mph exit velocity support a middle-of-the-order offensive profile with power to all fields. Chase also reached 91.5 mph on the mound adding legitimate two-way value. The the left-handed impact and offensive track record give him one of the higher floors in Arizona’s class.

Junior Future Games MVP

Gunnar Gehrts OF / RHP / Sandra Day O'Connor, AZ / 2030Gunnar earned Team Arizona’s Junior Future Games MVP honors with his impact in every phase of the game. The athletic young prospect finished 2-for-4 with an 85 mph double, two walks and four stolen bases, consistently creating pressure with his approach, speed and instincts. He took charge in the outfield, communicated well and played with the confidence of a leader. Gunnar also delivered two scoreless innings on the mound, showing fluid actions and composure. His production, versatility and mature presence made him the most complete performer for Arizona’s 2030 and 2031 group.

Senior Future Games (2027)

Devin Dekavallas 3B / Perry, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 60 / POS: 6
Devin reached base in five of eight plate appearances, finishing 2-for-5 with three walks and sound defense at third base. His coordinated actions and easy carry across the diamond stand out for a player with long levers. He showed strike-zone awareness and the ability to adjust to pitches down, but can rush his operation at times. Staying controlled and allowing his physical strength to work should lead to more consistent impact contact.

Israel Hernandez SS / Cienega, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 117 / POS: 30
Israel opened the event with a leadoff home run and finished 2-for-8 with only one strikeout. His smooth swing, barrel feel and competitive approach allowed him to consistently pressure the defense. Soft hands and fluid actions give him the versatility to handle multiple infield positions. The performance supported his status as a scrappy, reliable middle infielder who continues to trend upward.

Ryan Sanchez 1B / RHP / Valley Christian, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 102 / POS: 5
Ryan finished 2-for-7 with a 102 mph double off the center-field wall, but his upside on the mound became the bigger takeaway. Despite limited pitching experience, he worked at 90 to 94 mph and held 10 hitters to one hit and no runs while striking out three. The fastball showed up to 20 inches of horizontal movement, complemented by a 2,625 rpm slider and a developing changeup. Command remains the next step, but his arm strength, physicality and competitive makeup create legitimate two-way upside.

Jaggar Wethington RHP / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 28 / POS: 7
Jaggar faced eight hitters without allowing a hit or run, walking one and striking out two. His fastball reached 91.3 mph with nearly 20 inches of induced vertical break, but his poise and pitchability separated the outing. He sequenced a deep four-pitch mix with intent, landing the curveball for strikes and using the slider to expand. Added strength should elevate the arsenal while allowing him to maintain the athletic delivery and feel that already define his profile.

Future Games (2028)

Ryder Bell LHP / Hamilton, AZ / 2028Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 2
Ryder delivered a scoreless outing with two strikeouts and no walks, attacking the zone and working quickly from a low 3/4 slot. His fastball reached 86 mph with nearly 19 inches of horizontal movement, complemented by advanced feel for a four-pitch mix from a consistent release window. Added strength and greater separation between his breaking balls should elevate an already polished profile.

Christian Estrella OF / RHP / Corona Del Sol, AZ / 2028CJ finished 2-for-7 with two walks and only one strikeout, displaying a mature approach, two-strike adjustability and advanced bat-to-ball skills. His 6.76 speed and 95 mph outfield arm are exceptional for a physical 6'4, 222-pound frame. He also reached 93 mph on the mound and struck out three of five hitters faced. One of Arizona’s purest hitters, CJ should generate considerable interest on August 1.

Jacob Gabbel SS / Red Mountain, AZ / 2028Rankings StateRank: 26 / POS: 9
Jacob reached base in six of eight plate appearances, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, four walks and no strikeouts. The left-handed hitter controlled the zone, stayed committed to a line-drive approach and stole three bases with his 6.64 speed. His high motor and advanced instincts fit at the top of a lineup, with added strength and arm development capable of completing the profile.

Max Gamboa SS / OF / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2028Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 2
Max made both of his hits count, launching two home runs while adding three walks and only one strikeout. He combines a mature offensive approach with an 88 mph infield arm, natural leadership and the ability to change a game with one swing. Improved straight-line speed and range would raise the defensive ceiling, but his production and makeup position him as a potential breakout player in the class.

Evan Hedlund LHP / Casteel, AZ / 2028Evan allowed one hit over two scoreless innings, striking out two and generating consistent weak contact. The left-hander attacked from a low 3/4 slot with a fastball up to 89 mph and nearly 19 inches of horizontal movement, showing advanced feel for four pitches. His composure and ability to adjust as the outing progressed stood out. Added strength and clearer separation between the breaking balls should help Arizona’s top-ranked 2028 left-hander continue ascending.

Jackson Leigh RHP / Pinnacle, AZ / 2028After missing much of the year, Jackson returned with an encouraging look and ran his fastball up to 93 mph. The projectable right-hander showed arm speed, carry and a repeatable delivery from a high 3/4 to over-the-top slot. His curveball and slider blended together at times, but both flashed potential within a developing four-pitch mix. Improved command and greater breaking-ball separation could unlock significant upside as he returns to full strength.

Cooper LeRoy RHP / Perry, AZ / 2028Cooper dominated eight hitters, allowing no hits or runs while striking out three. His fastball reached 92 mph with 17 inches of horizontal movement, tunneling from a low 3/4 slot with a fading changeup and an 81 mph slider moving in the opposite direction. The three-pitch mix produced whiffs and weak contact while supporting a legitimate starter profile. Arizona’s top-ranked 2028 prospect should draw strong attention from college programs on August 1.

Mattox Murray SS / Canyon View, AZ / 2028Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 6
Mattox turned in one of Arizona’s most complete offensive performances, finishing 4-for-7 with a double, a walk and three stolen bases. His best at-bat came with two outs and two strikes, when he stayed through a 92 mph fastball for an opposite-field RBI single to take the lead. Quick hands, plus bat to ball skills, mature approach and 6.67 speed allow him to impact games in several ways. His plate discipline, high baseball IQ, and continued refinement at shortstop will continue to strengthen an already versatile profile.

Ian Palumbo OF / Brophy Prep, AZ / 2028Ian finished 2-for-6 with a double, three walks and three stolen bases while producing an exit velocity above 90 mph on every ball he put in play. His 6.48 speed creates immediate pressure, and a 91 mph outfield arm gives him another impact tool defensively. The athletic left-handed hitter also recorded 77 mph bat speed and an 80 percent hard-hit rate during the workout. Limiting swing and miss while preserving his patient approach will allow the tools to surface more consistently.

Adrian Sisco C / 3B / Perry, AZ / 2028Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 2
Adrian finished 1-for-6 with a double, two walks and only one strikeout, but his greatest value came behind the plate. He worked tirelessly, controlled the running game with pop times of 1.89 to 1.94 seconds and consistently kept pitches in front. His toughness, defensive reliability and competitive at-bats gave Team Arizona a steady presence at a demanding position.

Mikey Stortz RHP / Millennium, AZ / 2028Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 2
Mikey delivered one of his strongest looks to date, running his fastball up to 88 mph from a deceptive 3/4 slot. That marked a gain of more than four mph from February, while his slider climbed to 78 mph with 2,520 rpm and showed swing-and-miss potential. He worked ahead and commanded a deep mix that also featured a changeup and sinker. The recent gains suggest more velocity could come as he adds strength and speed to his projectable frame.

Troy Tewers 3B / RHP / Liberty, AZ / 2028Troy retired all three hitters he faced and struck out two during one of the sharpest innings of the weekend. His fastball reached 89 mph from a mid-to-low 3/4 slot, but the separator was a 2,638 rpm slider with more than 21 inches of horizontal break and command to both sides. The bat-first prospect also averaged 96 mph off the bat with a 91 percent hard-hit rate during BP. His physical offense, mound upside and blue-collar makeup create a valuable player with legitimate upside on the mound.

Junior Future Games (2030/2031)

Colton Braun OF / LHP / Brophy Prep, AZ / 2030Colton delivered one of Arizona’s best pitching performances, throwing four no-hit innings against Illinois with two walks and two strikeouts. The left-hander worked ahead, moved efficiently through the lineup and generated consistent weak contact. Although he went hitless, he reached base three times and showed a flat, line-drive path with developing pop. His left-handed two-way profile and physical projection make him a name to remember in Arizona’s 2030 class.

Jesus Sanchez 1B / OF / Canyon Del Oro, AZ / 2030Jesus finished 2-for-4 with a double and delivered a game-tying RBI against South Carolina. His barrel feel, poise and developing strength point toward a potential run-producing bat as he matures. He already provides reliable defense at first base and leads through a quiet, team-first approach. Improved foot speed would expand his outfield value and add another dimension to a promising profile.

Angel Sanchez Jr SS / OF / Homeschool (AZ), AZ / 2030Angel reached base four times, finishing 2-for-4 with two walks while showing natural bat-to-ball ability and feel for applying pressure. He played sure-handed defense with smooth actions on the dirt and showed enough athleticism to handle the outfield. A scoreless, hitless inning on the mound added another layer to his versatile skill set. His instincts and overall feel make him a player to follow closely as he enters high school.

Adam Villa C / RHP / Hamilton, AZ / 2030Adam brought energy, toughness and a vocal presence behind the plate, taking charge while working to keep everything in front. His awareness showed in the running game, where he was confident back-picking and threw out multiple runners. He also flashed offensive impact, finishing 1-for-5 with an 85 mph single and several other barrels. As he enters high school, channeling his passion into consistent team-first leadership will help him become a valuable piece for Hamilton.
