Future Games: The Nation’s Biggest Recruiting Week

Welcome to the biggest uncommitted baseball event in the country.  This week, the scouting world descends on LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA, for the highly anticipated Future Games week. While the week kicked off with the upperclassmen in the Senior Future Games (2027 grads) and features the rising stars of the Junior Future Games (2030 and 2031 grads), July 22nd through the 25th belong to the main event: the Future Games.

Bringing together the premier uncommitted Class of 2028 prospects from across the nation, the Future Games offer an unmatched platform.  These elite athletes will be put through a comprehensive pro-style workout before battling it out in a three-game slate.  Among the loaded rosters taking the field is Team SC, a powerhouse squad featuring the top uncommitted talent from across South Carolina.

If there was any question about the magnitude of this week, just look at the crowd behind the backstop.  Last year’s event drew a staggering 450+ college coaches, and Day 1 of this year's showcase has already matched—if not exceeded—that massive turnout.  The spotlight has never been brighter, and for the Class of 2028, it's time to perform.

Finn Boyles RHP / SS / May River High, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 16 / POS: 4 Boyles showcased an impressive blend of projection, stuff, and pitchability throughout his outing.  The 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-hander features a lean, projectable frame and worked with an 86-89 mph fastball that showed quality ride through the zone, aided by excellent extension and a deceptive release.  He complemented the fastball with a distinct mix of off-speed offerings, including an 80-82 mph cutter, a 75-78 mph slider, and an 80-83 mph changeup, consistently creating different shapes and keeping hitters off balance.  With a short, clean arm action and the ability to hide the baseball well, Boyles generated plenty of weak contact while showing the ingredients of a high-upside 2028 arm.

Garrett Burris LHP / OF / Lake Wylie High School, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 24 / POS: 3 Burris featured one of the more uncomfortable looks of the event, pairing a funky, deceptive delivery with true swing-and-miss stuff.  The 6-foot-4, 190-pound left-hander worked from a low three-quarter slot while pitching aggressively across his body, making the baseball exceptionally difficult to pick up.  His fastball sat 85-88 mph with advanced spin rates in the 2,400-2,500 RPM range, while his slider at 78-81 mph was a true out pitch, spinning between 2,600-2,900 RPM with late, sharp break.  Burris consistently landed both offerings for strikes, showing impressive control of his arsenal and the ingredients to be a difficult matchup for hitters at the next level.

Isaac Cain RHP / Clinton, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 17 / POS: 5 Cain showcased an easy, repeatable operation with plenty of arm speed and a projectable 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame.  The right-hander worked 84-88 mph with his fastball.  Although his command wavered early in the outing, he demonstrated feel for both his fastball and a 74-78 mph breaking ball.  With smooth mechanics, loose arm action, and two developing pitches, Cain offers intriguing upside as he continues to refine his command.

Cole Dawkins 3B / RHP / Fountain Inn High, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 66 / POS: 8 Dawkins impressed with one of the more polished outings of the event, consistently attacking hitters with confidence and filling the strike zone.  The 6-foot-1 right-hander worked 84-88 mph with a fastball that featured plenty of ride through the zone, setting up a sharp 76-79 mph curveball with late break while also mixing in both a slider (79-80 mph) and changeup (79-81 mph) for strikes.  He showed the ability to command all four pitches, move them to different quadrants of the zone, and keep hitters off balance throughout the outing.  Dawkins' competitiveness, strike-throwing ability, and advanced feel for pitching make him one of the more intriguing young arms in the 2028 class.

Beau Hite SS / RHP / Emerald High, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 194 / POS: 53 Hite turned in one of the more complete pitching performances of the event, combining athleticism, command, and advanced pitchability. The 6-foot, 175-pound right-hander worked with a quick, efficient delivery, attacking the strike zone with an 86-89 mph fastball that touched 90 mph and featured quality ride through the zone.  He paired it with an outstanding 75-78 mph breaking ball that consistently generated late action, while also mixing in an 82-84 mph changeup to keep hitters off balance.  Hite's ability to command all three pitches, compete relentlessly, and repeat his delivery made for an impressive outing and highlighted the upside of one of the more polished young arms in the 2028 class.

Mason Iser 3B / RHP / River Bluff High, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 13 / POS: 3 Iser delivered an efficient, polished outing, using a calm, repeatable delivery to consistently miss barrels and generate swings and misses.  The right-hander worked 84-86 mph with a fastball that featured quality arm-side run, setting up both a 76-78 mph slider and a 79-81 mph changeup that each played well off the heater with distinct depth and separation.  He punched out three hitters over two innings, showing advanced feel for mixing his arsenal and attacking hitters with confidence.  Iser's combination of pitchability, movement, and poise makes him an intriguing young prospect.

Everest King RHP / Homeschool (SC), SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 382 / POS: 106 King turned in an impressive outing, attacking hitters with confidence while showing advanced feel for the strike zone.  The 6-foot, 185-pound right-hander worked from a quick, efficient delivery and featured a lively cut-ride fastball at 87-90 mph, touching 91 mph.  He complemented the heater with a sharp 84-86 mph cutter and a wipeout 76-79 mph slider that consistently gave hitters a different look and generated uncomfortable swings.  King's combination of power stuff, strike-throwing ability, and competitive presence on the mound made him one of the more impressive arms of the event.

Briggs Lessmeister OF / RHP / Lake Wylie High School, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 7 / POS: 1 Lessmeister showcased one of the more physically imposing presences on the mound, standing 6-foot-3, 205 pounds with a strong, durable frame.  The right-hander attacked with a lively 89-91 mph fastball, complementing it with a sharp 72-73 mph breaking ball that consistently changed eye levels and generated uncomfortable swings.  He also mixed in an 83-84 mph changeup to round out a quality three-pitch arsenal.  With his combination of size, power stuff, and athleticism, Lessmeister continues to profile as one of the more intriguing arms in South Carolina's 2028 class.

Trace Mathews RHP / 1B / Legion Collegiate Academy, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 21 / POS: 6 Mathews showcased an intriguing combination of deception and pitchability, using an outlier release height to create a unique look for opposing hitters.  The 6-foot-2, 192-pound right-hander worked 84-86 mph with a riding fastball that played well at the top of the strike zone, pairing it with a big 68-72 mph curveball that created significant separation in shape and velocity.  He also mixed a 72-76 mph slider and a 77-78 mph changeup, showing confidence in all four offerings and the ability to keep hitters off balance.  Mathews' unique release characteristics, feel for mixing pitches, and complete arsenal make him an intriguing young arm with plenty of upside.

Andrew Mundy RHP / 1B / North Myrtle Beach High, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 195 / POS: 48 Mundy brings an impressive 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame to the mound and showed the ability to work effectively in the strike zone with a power arsenal.  The right-hander sat 88-90 mph with his fastball, touching 91 mph, and paired it with a hard-biting 77-80 mph slider that served as his primary swing-and-miss offering.  He also mixed in an 86 mph changeup to give hitters a different look and round out a quality three-pitch mix.  With his combination of size, power stuff, and ability to attack the zone, Mundy possesses significant upside as he continues to develop.

Maddox Nuckols RHP / SS / Augusta Christian, GA / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 58 / POS: 11 Nuckols impressed with a smooth, athletic delivery and a quick, snappy arm that allowed him to attack hitters with confidence.  The right-hander featured a lively fastball that consistently played well through the strike zone, pairing it with sweepy breaking pitches that showed quality spin and kept hitters off balance.  His ability to repeat his delivery and create different shapes with his off-speed arsenal made for an effective, well-rounded outing.  With his athleticism, loose arm action, and feel for spinning the baseball, Nuckols is an intriguing young arm with plenty of room to develop.

Brady Quirk RHP / SS / Fort Dorchester High, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 6 / POS: 3 Quirk showcased a strong blend of athleticism and arm strength, working from a controlled, repeatable delivery down the mound.  The right-hander featured an 85-89 mph fastball that reached 91 mph, attacking hitters with a firm heater that consistently showed life through the zone.  While his command wavered at times, he flashed an impressive 75-79 mph breaking ball with big depth and also mixed in an 78-82 mph changeup to give hitters multiple looks.  With his projectable frame, quality fastball, and swing-and-miss breaking ball, Quirk has the tools to continue making significant strides as he develops.
