EMERSON, GA - The best uncommitted event in the country kicks off this week with Future Games Week at LakePoint in Georgia. Teams from across the country will be showcasing their skills in front of college coaches from across the country.
The Team SoCal squad is composed of players from the southern portion of California. To begin the week, the players underwent a pro-style showcase workout with athletic testing captured via VALD for the 60-yard sprint test and jump testing. Offensively, the players utilized Blast Motion for swing metrics and Trackmand Technologies for batted ball data. They will begin their competitive slate on Thursday evening against North Texas.

GAME ONE RECAP:
On what turned out to be a weather-affected opening day of the 2026 Future Games for Team SoCal, the talented group of 2028s still put together several strong showings against the loaded squad from North Texas.
Opening their time at Georgia by squaring off against the Number 1 right-handed pitcher in the 2028 class, RHP Cullen Scott and his upper 90's FB, the bats of C/1B Quinn Melton and SS Kensen Johnson put together back to back extra base hits with Melton drilling a 97 MPH FB to LF for a standup double and Johnson followed with a rocket triple in RCF on a upper 80's SLD to drive Melton in.

SS Tyce Johnson put up a pair of strong at-bats by picking up a single in his first at-bat and then rocketed a 100+ MPH line drive into straight-away CF for an L-8. In addition, SS Zion Avina had a trio of strong at-bats with a 101+ MPH 6-3 ground out on a 96 MPH FB and a single into RCF before working a nine-pitch at-bat before lining out to RF.

OF William Lynch just missed under on a hard F-8 before collecting a solid single into LF in his second at bat, with C Evan Skelskey also adding a knock to his day. OF Dane Disney used his top-of-the-scale speed to pick up a single when he stung a one-hopper into the 5-6 hole and posted a 4.08 home to 1B time for a knock.

Melton would add a walk to his day before coming around to score his second run of the day.
RHP Jax Janeski flashed his potential over his two innings of work, running his FB up to 91 with heavy run and sink to the arm side to work below barrels when executed to the bottom of the zone to induce soft contact on the ground while mixing in a 72-74 MPH SLD with sweep and the making of a heavy tumbling CHG at 77-78. He worked an efficient sub-10 pitch first inning.
RHP Colton Dunwoody worked through the heaviest of the downpour and responded with an impressive inning of work where his high spin traits posted an efficient sub-10 pitch three-out inning. Dunwoody ran his FB up to 87 MPH with spin living in the 2400-2600 RPM range and a developing 75-76 MPH SLD showing a shorter, tight shape and the makings of a solid to strong potential CHG.
RHP Orion Gonzalez picked up a pair of strikeouts on his SLD, showing the ability to bury it to the backfoot of LH hitters while varying the velocity and shape of his FB between a sinking 81-84 MPH offering and a riding/running 86-89 four-seam version. His SLD worked in the 71-73 MPH with more a sweepy shape to it.
Finally, RHP Christian Reis closed out the evening for Team SoCal with an intriguing performance showing top level spin traits on a cut FB in the 88-92 MPH range that can ride in the zone with spin anywhere from 2500-2600+ RPMs that pairs into a sharp top down CB at 74-77 that peaks nearly at 2900 RPMs and the makings of a tumbling CHG that has potential in the 74-76 MPH range. Reis collected a pair of strikeouts with five whiffs from the North Texas hitters and induced a double play ball to close out his first inning.
