Senior Future Games: Takeaways

The 2026 Senior Future Games just wrapped up at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia. This year, prospects from the state of Texas helped comprise Team South Plains, alongside Oklahoma and Arkansas. 

Today, we will be highlighting the Texas prospects who stood out over the two-day event.

Joseph Cardona Jr. | OF/1B | Buda Johnson | 2027 | 6'0" 190
Middle of the order type left handed hitter with advanced bat to ball skill and a mature offensive approach. Looks very comfortable in the box, consistently controlling at bats and producing quality contact. Defensively, profiles as a corner OF/1B with feet that work, some carry to the throw, while posting a 7.08 sixty. Backed up the tools in game play, going 5-for-8 with two doubles and a home run at SFG while also recording a 9-2 assist defensively.

Quality pitchability with four pitch command and a breaking ball that gives him a chance to miss barrels at the next level.

Athletic infielder with a 6.82 sixty and the versatility to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Defensively, shows smooth actions on the dirt with a quick exchange and plenty of arm strength to handle the left side of the infield. At the plate, works from a balanced swing with a compact stroke, showing gap to gap pop and consistent barrel accuracy. Put together a three hit performance in Game 1, highlighted by a 103 mph double down the left field line, reinforcing the quality offensive profile.

Solid right handed pitcher with quality pitchability and the ability to consistently attack the strike zone. Shows a repeatable delivery, works with tempo, and commanded an 85-87 mph fastball to the edges of the zone throughout the outing. Mixed a 75-76 mph slider with solid shape and feel along with a 74-75 mph changeup that showed fade and kept hitters off balance. Strike thrower with a three pitch mix and the ability to compete by changing speeds, locating, and pitching with confidence.

Athletic infielder with a 6.84 sixty and the versatility to impact the game on the left side of the infield. Defensively, shows rangy actions with good feet, quality glove action, rhythm to the catch, and plenty of arm strength, highlighted by a plus play in the 6 hole while playing third base. At the plate, works from a leveraged swing with quick hands, staying inside the baseball while showing present doubles power. Quality all around player with athleticism, defensive versatility, and an offensive profile that should continue to produce.

Tall, lean switch hitting catcher with athleticism and plenty of upside behind the plate. Posted a 6.96 sixty and recorded sub-2.0 pop times during the workout while carrying those actions into game play with 2.00-2.10 pop times and a caught stealing during Game 1 at SFG. At the plate, looks best from the left side with a quick bat, working up the middle while producing a 100 mph base hit through the middle of the field. Athletic catching prospect with quality catch and throw ability, offensive upside from both sides of the plate, and the tools to continue trending as a high follow in the 2027 class.

Quick twitch outfielder with a 6.70 sixty and the athleticism to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Defensively, is a rangy mover with quality closing speed, showing 85-87 mph arm strength from the outfield with carry to the throw. At the plate, features very quick hands with sneaky juice, producing exit velocities up to 100.7 mph at SFG and 105.6 mph in previous looks. Dynamic athlete with a loud tool set and offensive upside that makes him an intriguing follow in the 2027 class.

Dominic Naylor | INF/RHP | Cedar Park | 2027 | 6'0" 197
Physical two way prospect with present strength and an offensive profile built around impact. At the plate, topped 103.9 mph exit velocity during the SFG workout and backed it up in game play with a three run home run that cleared the scoreboard in Game 2. On the mound, worked with an 87-89 mph fastball, pairing it with an 80-81 mph slider at approximately 2300 rpm and an 83 mph changeup to attack hitters with a quality three pitch mix. Strong follow as a two way player with present power, a live arm, and the tools to impact the game on both sides of the ball.

Ryan Floyd | RHP | Liberty Christian | 2027 | 5'10" 175
Solid right handed pitcher who works exclusively from the stretch with confidence and attacks hitters in the strike zone. Fastball sat 88-90 mph with carry through the top of the zone, allowing the pitch to play above its velocity. Slider worked 77-79 mph with quality shape and enough confidence to land it in any count, giving him a dependable secondary offering. Strike thrower with quality pitchability, a competitive presence on the mound, and an arsenal that continues to trend in the right direction.

Competitive left handed pitcher who fills up the strike zone and attacks hitters with confidence. Fastball sat 87-88 mph with arm side run, while the 74-75 mph slider changed planes well and gave him a quality secondary to complement the FB. Mixed an 80-81 mph changeup with deception and sink/tail action, showing the ability to keep hitters off balance while also controlling the running game. Strike thrower with quality pitchability and more velocity still to come as the overall arsenal continues to develop.

Physical right handed pitcher with a 6'4", 215 pound frame and plenty of upside remaining. Features a short arm path with a repeatable delivery and competitive mentality, attacking hitters with a heavy 87-89 mph fastball that shows arm side run. Slider shows proper spin and is at its best when he gets out front, while the 80-81 mph changeup features quality sink and tail to keep hitters off balance. Strike thrower with a durable frame, quality three pitch mix, and significant upside as the arsenal continues to develop.
