Road to LakePoint: Previewing Team NC and Team Carolina for the Future Games

The most anticipated week on the amateur baseball calendar is nearly here. From July 21–26, the nation’s premier uncommitted talent will converge on the state-of-the-art complexes at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia, for the annual Prep Baseball Future Games and Senior Future Games.

With over 450 college coaches and scouts expected to line the backstops, the stage is set for a defining moment in these young athletes' recruiting journeys. Every single player in attendance shares two things in common: they are entirely uncommitted, and they represent the absolute elite of their respective classes.

This year, the Old North State is sending a powerhouse contingent down south. For the Future Games (2028 grads), Team NC will take the field looking to showcase the depth of homegrown talent. For the Senior Future Games (2027 grads), North Carolina will join forces with our neighbors to the south to form a loaded Team Carolina roster.

Both squads will jump straight into the fire, starting with a grueling pro-style workout to flash their tools, followed by a highly competitive three-game guarantee against the best uncommitted rosters in the country.

To get you ready for the action, we are breaking down our rosters by primary position groups over the coming days. From explosive arms on the mound to dynamic bats and elite defenders, here is your comprehensive preview of the North Carolina prospects set to turn heads at LakePoint.

Future Games Preview: Patrolling the Outfield

Athleticism, arm strength, and dynamic bats—the outfielders representing North Carolina at LakePoint Sports have it all. As we preview the rosters for Team NC and Team Carolina heading into the Prep Baseball Future Games (July 21-26), the outfield group stands out for its unique blend of power potential and defensive versatility.

Whether it is tracking down balls in the gaps or doing damage at the plate, these uncommitted prospects have proven they belong on the national stage. Here is a look at the outfielders ready to make an impact.

Team NC (Future Games - 2028 Grads)

Trendyn Motley - OF/1B/LHP

  • High School: Pro5 Baseball Academy
  • Bats/Throws: L/L
  • Height/Weight: 6’5” | 207 lbs
  • Scouting Report: Motley is one of the most physical and exciting left-handed bats in the 2028 class. Standing an imposing 6’5”, his swing packs massive power projection and advanced barrel feel. The feel for the strike zone and his swing decisions have made big improvements in the last year. Motley is one of the most high profile players at the 2026 Future Games but seems to play with a sense of urgency as he is working to get better throughout the year.

Jesse Covington - OF/RHP/SS

  • High School: Wesleyan Christian Academy
  • Bats/Throws: R/R
  • Height/Weight: 6’2” | 172 lbs
  • Scouting Report: A premium athlete with legitimate two-way tools. Covington boasts elite arm strength, having recorded outfield velocities up to 93 mph and a fastball that climbs into the mid-90s on the mound. At the plate, his quick hands and explosive rotational acceleration produce triple-digit exit velocities (up to 100.8 mph). Covington is a high-motor player whose raw metrics jump off the page.

Hudson Simmons - OF/LHP

  • High School: Charlotte Christian School
  • Bats/Throws: L/L
  • Height/Weight: 6’1” | 185 lbs
  • Scouting Report: Simmons’ stock skyrocketed this spring after helping lead Charlotte Christian to a State Championship. Having added significant strength to his athletic frame, Simmons possesses advanced bat-to-ball skills paired with excellent bat speed (max exit velocity of 98.3 mph). He is a well-rounded athlete, turning in sub-6.75 60-yard dash times while bringing a steady left-handed stroke that delivers loud contact to all fields. A potential dual prospect, there is arm speed and pitch-ability on the bump as well.

Team Carolina (Sr. Future Games - 2027 Grads)

Antonio Parrino - OF

  • High School: Wake Forest HS
  • Bats/Throws: L/R
  • Height/Weight: 6'1" | 185 lbs
  • Scouting Report: A consistent producer for Wake Forest, Parrino profiles as an excellent middle-of-the-order bat. He flashes extra-base power and a knack for driving in runs, hitting over .400 during the high school season. Parrino has a sturdy frame and shows great instincts on the basepaths and in the outfield, making him a reliable impact player both offensively and defensively.

Brooks Hemphill - OF

  • High School: TC Roberson HS
  • Bats/Throws: R/R
  • Height/Weight: 5’10” | 170 lbs
  • Scouting Report: Hemphill is an elite runner and a catalyst at the top of the lineup. Posting 60-yard dash times in the mid-6.5 range, his speed is a game-changer defensively and offensively. Hemphill is coming off a spring where he caught some attention with big in-game performances. This summer he registered a max exit velocity of 99 mph at recent showcase events. He’s an explosive, twitchy athlete positioned to turn heads.
