Ten Standout Single-Game Performances Seen in Oregon This Spring
June 18, 2026
Throughout this spring, Prep Baseball staff traveled across Oregon State, covering games beginning to end as the go-to source for all things high school baseball. Many players and teams impressed during these live looks, with players across the state establishing themselves as arrow-up prospects or names to circle moving forward.
Today, Prep Baseball Oregon highlights ten of the most impressive individual single-game performances we saw this spring. While there were an abundance of great statlines and appearances in Oregon, this list focuses specifically on performances in games that were attended by Prep Baseball staff.
Below, we list the players and single-game statlines, followed by our scouting notes from the game.
3/17 - '26 Teagan Scott (South Salem)
2-3, 2 HR, 2 BB, 4 R, 2 RBI
"The Oregon State commit got his senior spring started in a big way, contributing to a 20-spot put up by our Preseason Power 25 #1 ranked team. Scott launched a pair of no-doubt home runs to the pull side, filling up the stat sheet with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI from the three hole. Long one of the top-ranked players in his state class, Scott's importance at the plate and at the catcher position cannot be overstated this spring."

3/25 - '26 Jace Willett (Century)
3-4, 3 2B, 3 R, 4 RBI
"The senior was the catalyst all afternoon for Century en route to their dominant 12-4 victory. The senior played first base and made every play that came his way, though he's been seen in the mid 80's on the mound as well. Willett found loud contact on the barrel all game long with a trio of doubles, filling the stat sheet from the middle of the order with three runs scored and 4 runs driven in. Important piece for the remainder of the spring."
4/8 - '26 Trenton Hertzog (Tualatin)
6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 K. 3-3, 3 1B, BB, RBI
"The senior dominated on both sides of the ball in this contest. On the bump, he went 6 dominant innings allowing only 2 hits with 2 BB and 10 strikeouts. Hertzog has an extremely effective FB/CB combination and knows how to command it. FB has above average ride/carry into the zone from a higher release slot but comes out of a tight, short arm path to give added deception. The slot gives him the chance for a true 12/6 breaker the features plenty of bite and depth. His ability to command the FB to all parts of the zone makes it extremely difficult for hitters to cover everything and the CB gives Hertzog a true swing-and-miss offering to rack up the K’s. Hertzog is also a dynamic LH stick and finished with 3 hits, and he projects well offensively at the next level."

Changed the eye level well with the FB up/breaking ball down consistently. Compact arm action with some deception before release. POTY-type talent this spring with… pic.twitter.com/OUQMSr7btE
4/15 - '27 Kell VanDehey (Lake Oswego)
3-4, 2 2B, 1B, R, 3 RBI
"Sets up tall in the box with an upright, slightly open stance before using a short, quick forward stride to establish his hitting base. The hands stay tight with a subtle push back load and he uses an early barrel turn to get on plane and stay through the baseball. Noticeable separation allows him to lag the swing through the zone and maintain his posture into contact. Big bodied athlete who displayed some really intriguing hitting traits and has the chance to add more power."
4/22 - '27 Kevin Carrieri (Forest Grove)
7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K. 1-3, RBI
"Strongly built at 6’0, 200 lbs, the southpaw has 2-way potential with his ability to swing the bat and handle both 1B and the OF on defense. The L/L profile makes him even more enticing for the next level. On the mound, it was a dominant and efficient performance from start to finish. He only faced 4 batters over the minimum and he fired 61 of his 91 pitches for strikes. Pitches with a simple, repeatable delivery and has some cross action in his landing. The arm action is a tighter, more compact path after he separates and then gets late extension out front through his release. Ball comes out from a ¾ slot and does give the appearance of hiding it well on hitters. Breaking ball played well off the FB in this outing. He can really elevate when he needs to and also has the ability to drive the ball in on a RHH."

4/28 - '28 Hunter Arana (Lincoln)
4-4, HR, 2B, 2 1B, R, 3 RBI
"The extra tall sophomore is a powerful lefty stick with big leverage from his high waisted frame and a heavy barrel that can really impact the ball. After getting the scoring started early with an oppo line drive double, he also added a solo HR in the top of the 6th. The corner infielder-type has the makings of a potential impact middle of the order bat and has been a prospect on the rise this season."

4/30 - '28 Sam Smith (Central Catholic)
7 IP, 3 H, ER, 0 BB, 13 K. 1-4, RBI
"Smith fired 65 strikes in his 93 pitches and only faced 4 over the minimum. He works from the stretch with an easy, simple operation that helps him stay consistent and fill up the zone. The arm path is quick and easy with late extension out front and an athletic sequence through release. An exceptional athlete with plus plus speed in the OF. His body control and twitch translates to the mound, making him one of the most impactful 2-way prospects in any class."
5/25 - '27 Chase Austin (Beaverton)
3-3, 3B, 2B, 1B, BB, 2 R. 5.2 IP, 3 R, 6 K
"One of the top bats in Oregon's junior class delivered a heroic effort in a close loss, ending Beaverton's season. The lefty stick reached base in all four plate apperances from the leadoff spot. The heavier barrel travels through the zone with some speed and lags well with pop to all fields. Austin was aggressive early on and in hitters counts, including his triple on the second pitch of the game seen by Beaver hitters. On the mound, the lefty worked around some traffic at times, striking out 6 batters over 5.2 innings of work while totaling 111 pitches thrown."
6/2 - '27 Ben Foglio (Clackamas)
3-3, 2B, 2 1B, R, 2 RBI
"One of several high-end arms for the top-ranked team in the state, Folgio has gotten it done at the plate this spring as well for the Cavaliers. The lefty stick sets in a more upright, relaxed stance, carrying speed through the zone with a pull-oriented approach. Foglio got the scoring B3 with a hard-hit RBI single and added another RBI double pull-side the following inning. The junior came up huge in what was a big day for the offense overall to send his team to the 6A state title game."
6/6 - '27 Joe Mendazona Jr. (Central)
7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 14 K
"How about a complete game no-hitter to clinch a 5A state championship? The top-ranked junior in the state and TCU commit was locked in on another level on Saturday, delivering an incredible performance that will be remembered for some time. Mendazona overpowered hitters with a FB/SL combination, generating swing and miss throughout. He battled through the elements at times and looked in total control the whole game, helping the Panthers cruise to an eventual 7-0 win. Mendazona also delivered some huge hits in their playoff run and is a must-follow prospect moving forward."
