Eugene & Oregon Summer ID - Quick Hits
July 5, 2026
So far this summer we've had a trio of Summer ID events across the state to help evaluate HS athletes from the 2027 - 2030 classes.
Summer ID events serve as an important tool for both Prep Baseball scouts and college recruiters, who will subsequently create lists of prospects to follow as they plan their remaining summer coverage. We often tend to see prospects' best showings at Summer ID events, as players are fresh off playing for their respective high schools and are in the routine that consistently playing in-game offers. Standout performances can lend invites to some of the summer's top events, including the 2026 Pacific Northwest State Games.
Today, we release our Quick Hits, detailing scouting notes on some standout players from the events. For individual event rosters, stats, etc, please visit the EVENT RESULTS tab.
QUICK HITS
OREGON SUMMER ID EVENTS
‘27 OF Hunter Grubb (Tualatin) - Started off the event with a strong display of speed/athleticism with a 6.87 in the 60 and followed it up with a 26 in vertical and 1.58 RSI test. Shows both speed underway and quality burst in the short distance. Projects well to OF long-term. Accurate arm in the defensive portion with a higher, over the top release. Offensively showed a balanced, controlled set-up with a middle of the field approach. Stays connected at foot strike and keeps hands inside of the ball. Added some more loft and uphill angle in the finish from our previous look last summer. Overall features a balanced skill set highlighted by the above average speed.
‘27 OF Chad Turner (Sheldon) - Turner put together one of the louder and more impressive offensive showings we’ve seen so far in the early summer circuit. 6’3 athlete with a strong, lean build and leverage. Posted a peak EV up to 100.7 with tight, compact bat speed and pull-side pop. Stays connected and hits against a strong front side at contact. Also showed quality athleticism with a 6.98 in the 60 and an 80+ mph arm from the OF. Strong bat to watch in the class.

‘27 INF/P Justice Diaz (Nelson) - Big improvements in all areas from Diaz on this most recent look as he really impressed with his speed/power combination. Powerful levers with compact strength at 5’10, 197 lbs. Very quick first step with strong initial burst. Athleticism translates well to the plate where he generates considerable force from the ground up and really rotates well through his core. Uses a quiet forward move with a tight, subtle hand load to create stretch against front side. Easy bat speed with loose, quick wrists. Ball jumps, especially to his pull-side. Flashed 2-way ability as well on the bump and a solid 3 pitch mix for strikes.
‘27 SS Michael Neumayer (Sherwood) - Impressive progress across the board on Neumayer on this most recent look. Showcasing above average arm strength from the INF up to 87 mph while also improving his speed down to a 7.15 in the 60. Offensively the power and output also took a step forward with his peak EV at 93.6, over a 5 mph jump from last year. Showed 2-way ability as well on the bump with a FB up to 81.7 mph to go with a CB/CH in the arsenal. Tight, short arm action after hand break. Ball comes out with life and carry. Also had a strong offensive showing in game on our final look in the spring during HS playoffs. Mature hitter with strike zone discipline and quality swing decisions.
‘27 LHP/OF Wyatt Wright (Willamette) - 2-way prospect with L/L profile and arm talent. Positionally, has the ability to stick in the OF with a loose, whippy arm action and speed to handle the corners. Athletic mover with a lean, wiry frame. At the plate showed a more contact, handsy type approach with a direct left-handed stroke. Stays in the big part of the diamond. On the mound, flashed an impressive 3 pitch mix highlighted by impressive movement on the FB/SNK. Presently 78-80 with the sinker now but has more in the tank as he continues to develop. Generates consistent arm side run and heavy life from a lower left-handed slot. Allows him to work the middle of the zone and still live on the edges with the late life. CB showed above average shape and bite. CH features same late action as sinker but with quality speed differential to disrupt timing. Lefty arm to watch this summer

‘28 C Dane Carpenter (Estacada) - Carpenter showed a nice jump in overall strength from our previous look and made some offensive jumps across the board to help bolster his profile as a left-handed hitting catching prospect. At the plate, displays some quickness in the hands with a balanced, quiet set up that allows the barrel to work directly to the ball. Peak EV up nearly 10 mph from previous look last summer. Defensively continues to show a strong, quiet glove hand while receiving with consistent actions in and out of the crouch. Reliable, accurate throwing arm with a tighter, more compact action after the exchange.
‘28 RHP/1B Ryker Cavender (Hillsboro) - Burly, strong bodied prospect at 6’0, 210. Offensively showed a peak EV up to 94 mph with a pull-side approach and consistent loft on the baseball. Hits from a wider, more spread base and uses a higher, uphill finish through contact. Heavy barrel thru the zone. Can impact the ball easily with quiet effort. Showed off some 2-way ability on the mound as well with a solid 3 pitch offering and FB presently in the upper 70s with heavier life. Pairs the FB with a sweeping CB and CH.
‘28 RHP Kayden Dabbs (Sunset) - Strong framed with a sturdy lower half at 6’0, 180. Smooth and mechanically sound delivery on the bump. Repeats actions with deliberate tempo and stays within himself. Tight, compact arm action that stays bent after hand break. Works quickly through release with late hand speed and some deception. Quality life out of hand. FB up to 83.1 with quality ride from a lower release height. Generates tight spin/shape on CB at 69-71 with ↝ 2440 rpm. Kills spin on CH well and takes off quality speed differential down to the 74-76 range. Strong, balanced finish. Stays behind the baseball well.
‘28 SS Brody Joyce (Canby) - 6’2 athlete with quality size and strength for the SS position. Joyce has added some physicality from our previous look last summer and it showed through his BP in Eugene. Peak EV up to 95.8 with a strong, consistent average of 89 mph on all batted balls. Starts from a taller set up with a balanced stance then uses a quick, brief toe tap load to create some separation and get the hands moving. Strong at point of contact with hands staying inside the baseball. Arm shows accuracy and easy, consistent carry from across the diamond.
‘28 C/OF Ronak Cerwonka (Jesuit) - Tall, lean, wiry athlete at 6’1 with a high-waisted frame and long levers. Very diverse skill set, especially on the defensive side with his ability to play both OF and C with quality actions. Long term, the size and speed might push him to the OF where he can utilize his burst and 7.0 speed. Offensively he’s still growing into his power and is likely to see the overall impact on the baseball improve quickly. Does a nice job staying tight to the ball with a quick turn into contact. Stays tall and gets leverage from the frame for consistent lift.
‘28 RHP/1B Miles Whipp (Cleveland) - Whipp showed improvement across the board from our look earlier in the fall. The 2-way prospect showed a quality jump on the mound with the FB topping at 83.6 mph, up from 79.2. Paired the FB with 2 breaking balls featuring different shapes and both found the zone consistently. Quicker paced delivery with a quick arm swing and loose arm action out front through release. Offensively showed progress as well from the left-side with a peak EV up to 91.5. Hits with a wider, balanced set up and quiet forward move. Stays directly aligned with the pitcher and uses a flatter, more level path through the zone.
‘29 RHP/3B Camden Buchheit (Sprague) - A huge winner from the Eugene workout. Buchheit has an ideal pitcher’s frame at 6’2, 175 with long, loose levers and a ton of projection. After showcasing the potential earlier this Fall with a FB up to 80.4, he made a huge jump and topped at 87.4 mph while holding 84-87 throughout. Paired the FB with a sharp CB at 70-73 with 2300+ rpm and a CH at 73-76. Overall his position player profile took a huge jump as well with increased speed, power and an INF arm up to 85 mph. Big riser in the class and a must follow prospect the rest of the summer.
