CHARLESTON, SC – Prep Baseball returned to the Lowcountry for a highly competitive 60-team tournament featuring 14U-17U programs from across the East Coast. Over the course of the weekend, teams competed at premier venues including Shipyard Park, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, and surrounding high school fields throughout the Charleston area. As is customary at Prep Baseball events, the tournament drew significant attention from college recruiters and professional scouts evaluating some of the region's top talent. The event provided athletes with a premier platform to showcase their abilities while competing against high-level opposition. Throughout the week, Prep Baseball's staff covered the action extensively, highlighting standout performers and emerging prospects across all age divisions.

Lance Whitaker, 2030, IF, South Pointe
2030 IF Lance Whitaker continues to impress with an advanced offensive skill set for his age. Strong, physical build with a high-level feel for the barrel and the ability to impact the baseball to all fields. Laced a double into the opposite-field gap, showing both bat speed and strength through contact. Stays under control in the box and lets the ball travel, allowing his whole-field approach to play in game action. Young hitter with present juice and significant offensive upside.

Sam Painter, 2027, 1B, Hammond School
2027 1B Sam Painter shows the strength and run-producing ability that stand out in his offensive profile. Drove a hard-hit ball through the right side for an RBI and added another run-producing hit to the pull side earlier in the weekend. Strong 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame with present strength and plenty of power potential. The ball comes off his bat with authority, and he looks comfortable driving pitches to different parts of the field. Physical corner bat with middle-of-the-order upside.

Ean Johanning, 2029, C, Eastside
The strong freshman bat had a nice showing this tournament with some good hacks from the right side. Present strength in frame at 6-0, 182-pounds. From the right side shows a relaxed load and stride with balance through contact. Big time bat speed sends a powerful barrel through the zone with a short path to the baseball that produces loud contact to all fields. Intriguing offensive talent from the 2029 class.

Landon Robertson, 2030, 3B/C, Seneca
Lean and strong frame at 6-0, 172-pounds with plenty of room to continue adding on. Athletic operation with some twitch in the box showing juice at contact. Good rhythm to the load and stride with legit bat/hand speed that will certainly lead to big time raw pop as he continues to mature. Showed the ability to inside out balls to the opposite field with power as well. Fun player to watch at a young age that will be a major follow as he enters the high school ranks.

Hane Pretulak, 2027, 1B/OF, Greenville
Uncommitted. Lean and athletic 6-0, 174-pound frame. Showed some powerful swings from the left side this tournament managing multiple extra base knocks. At the plate shows juice to the opposite field gap with a good flat path that stays in the zone for a long time with strength at impact. Some rawness to the swing suggesting more production could be on the horizon. Strong left handed stick that will be a name to watch against good competition this summer.

Joseph Lyons, 2028, SS/RHP, Calhoun Academy
This two-way player was previously mentioned in our article highlighting standout pitchers but also showed impact on the offensive side. Standing 5-9, 160-pounds with strength in the lower half, the SS jumps out of the box with good burst. Aggressive on the bags and in the dirt that really plays hard. Beginning to show some power and bat speed even with some mechanical tweaks to make at the plate. Takes a long stride but showcases plenty of strength to still put some heat on the baseball if not in the best hitting position. 6.83 runner at recent scout day with a chance to impact multiple facets.

Colt Layton, 2027, OF, Calhoun Academy
Uncommitted. Packs a punch in a 5-6, 145-pound frame. Good athlete sitting at the top of the order and manning CF for Power Baseball’s 2027 group. Was chomping at the bit this weekend with multiple shots to the OF for extra bases. Shows a balanced stance with little wasted movement through contact with a good flat path in zone and fast hands. Quick first step out of the box as well. Spark plug that really sets the tone for his squad.

Dylan Trembley, 2029, SS, Myrtle Beach
The MIF out of the 2029 class had a good showing for (Power Baseball SC 2029 Marucci) in the Carolina Summer Championship helping his team win it all. Posting a .500 batting average all weekend only striking out one time. On defense he was able to show a good glove and help his team turn four double plays throughout the tournament. Trembley has shown great improvement since his Junior Future debut last summer and look forward to seeing his progress this upcoming Summer!
