2026 National High School Top-50 Rankings: Final Edition

By Andy Sroka
National Managing Editor, Scouting

The 2026 spring high school baseball season marked the fourth year that Prep Baseball has ranked the top-50 programs in the country from start to finish, and this season delivered more drama, dominance, and star power than any of the previous three. From coast-to-coast state championship celebrations to legendary coaching milestones, the 2026 campaign was one for the ages.

In this final edition, we're crowning our top-50 after the last of the state championship tournaments across the country, integrating playoff results into our rankings and highlighting the standout performances, programs, and players that defined the spring.

Here's the final edition of the 2026 National HS Rankings, published Wednesday, June 24:

THE TOP-15: IN DEPTH

No. 1: Trinity (KY), 41-3 | KHSAA State Champions

The Shamrocks cap one of the most dominant seasons in Kentucky's prep baseball history and it lifted them all the way to the very top of our National High School Top-50. Trinity went 31-0 against Kentucky-based programs and posted a staggering 78-7 run differential in the postseason to repeat as KHSAA state champions, becoming the first Kentucky team to win back-to-back titles since 1998. Their pitching staff was nothing short of elite: six no-hitters and 21 shutouts on the season. Head coach Rick Arnold, now 375-61 since taking over in 2015 with three state titles to his name, was named the inaugural Prep Baseball Kentucky Coach of the Year. Trinity didn't dodge elite competition nationwide either, earning wins over powerhouses like Jesuit HS (FL), St. John Bosco HS (CA), as well as four prominent Illinois programs.

Top Player: RHP/3B Grayson Willoughby (2026; Kentucky commit) earned Prep Baseball Kentucky Player of the Year honors after hitting .467 with 39 RBIs while going 12-0 on the mound with a 0.67 ERA and 96 Ks and fastball regularly on the doorstep of triple-digits. He pitched a shutout in the championship game to clinch the title for the Shamrocks in an all-time season.

(Grayson Willoughby; 4/18/26)

From Shooter Hunt, VP of Scouting: "It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Trinity who lost multiple high-level D1 arms at portions of the season. But through it all one thing prevailed: WINNING. The Shamrocks took on any and all challengers (and in all sorts of weather) and relished the bullseye. With big arms down, frontline starter Grayson Willoughby took on elite teams in state and across the country, going 12-0 with a 0.67 ERA including wins over multiple nationally ranked teams. Along with a tough, talented lineup, this group cemented a national title with a state championship, and should have head coach Rick Arnold very pleased with the program that he has built. Congratulations to Trinity High!”

No. 2: Aledo (TX), 44-5 | 5A D1 State Champions

The Bearcats are back-to-back 5A D1 state champions, racking up 44 wins in another dominant Texas postseason.

Top Player: LHP Lucas Nawrocki (2026; LSU) was one of the most dangerous two-way players in the country. He hit over .500 with a 1.600 OPS and 10 home runs, and carried a 0.63 ERA with 134 Ks heading into the state title game, where he delivered a big RBI single and tossed four no-hit innings before a weather delay disrupted his outing. Nawrocki is ranked No. 7 overall by Prep Baseball Texas.

No. 3: Keller (TX), 40-4-2 | 6A D1 State Champions

Keller captured its first-ever state championship, and they did it for retiring head coach Rob Stramp, who won the 6A D1 title in the final game of his 28-year career. The Indians had been runners-up in 2021, and this time they finished the job.

Top Player: RHP/INF Cole Koeninger (2026; Tennessee) is one of the country's best seniors and a legitimate two-way prospect that has scouts split on his next-level home, ranked No. 21 on the Prep Baseball Draft HQ Top-200. He slashed .432/.520/.757 with 9 HR and 15 2B, struck out just 12 times against 24 walks, swiped 34 bases on 35 attempts, and posted a 1.14 ERA in 73.2 IP with 130 Ks and a 0.77 WHIP. An injury prevented him from hitting in the state title game, but he started on the mound and dealt 6.2 IP of two-hit, eight-K baseball, leaving with a 2-0 lead that ended as a 2-1 state-clinching victory.

No. 4: St. John Bosco (CA), 27-6 | D1 CIF-Southern Section Champions

Two years ago, the Braves went 10-18 overall and 1-14 in Trinity League play. Now they're back-to-back D1 CIF-SS champions, winners of 15 straight CIF-SS playoff games, competing in arguably the toughest high school tournament environment in the country.

Top Players: RHP Julian Garcia (2026; Long Beach State) returned from a season-long injury in 2025 to become the ace, posting a 0.80 ERA in 12 appearances, capped by a 14-K, one-hit shutout in the CIF-SS championship. He was named CIF-SS D1 Player of the Year by the section's coaches. 3B/RHP Jack Champlin (2026; UC Irvine) hit .390 with 32 RBIs while logging a 0.99 ERA on the mound, and SS James Clark (2026; Duke) is the team's highest-ranked draft prospect at No. 43 on the Prep Baseball Draft HQ Top-200 and he hit .319 this spring with 5 HR and 29 RBIs.

(Julian Garica; 4/8/26)

No. 5: Norco (CA), 28-5 | D1 CIF-Southern Section Runners-Up

Norco started only one senior in the CIF-SS championship game and still reached the D1 final for the first time in program history (2019 runners-up at D2). They'll be back, searching for their first-ever D1 CIF-SS championship.

Top Player: SS Dylan Seward (2027; Tennessee) is the No. 1-ranked '27 in the country, slashing .436 with 7 HR, 29 RBIs, and a 1.246 OPS as a junior this past spring. He was an All CIF-SS D1 selection alongside RHP/3B Jordan Ayala (2027), who punched out 91 batters in 66 IP with a 0.74 ERA, and LHP Landon Hovermale (2026; Grand Canyon), who posted a 2.18 ERA with 81 Ks in 70.2 IP as a senior.

(Dylan Seward; 5/1/26)

No. 6: Jesuit (FL), 28-6 | 4A State Champions

The Tigers have now won three FHSAA state championships this decade (5A champs in 2022, 2024), their eighth title overall and fourth under head coach Miguel Menendez.

Top Player: RHP/INF Wilson Andersen (2026; Mississippi State) earned Prep Baseball Florida First Team, All-State honors after finishing with a 1.62 ERA in 69 IP with 111 Ks while hitting .426 with 11 2B, 4 3B, 4 HR, and 36 RBIs.

(Wilson Andersen; 3/11/26)

No. 7: Tomball (TX), 43-1-1 | 6A D2 State Champions

Tomball's third UIL state championship in program history came in their third straight state finals appearance (2024 champs) caps an absurd three-year run under head coach Doug Rush who guided the Cougars to an 118-10-2 record over that span.

Top Player: 3B/OF/RHP CJ Sampson (2026; Texas A&M), ranked No. 17 overall by Prep Baseball Texas, led the offense at .488/.601/.843 while also going 13-1 on the mound with a 1.00 ERA in 83.1 IP (118 K, 10 BB, 0.80 WHIP). LHP/1B Blake Edling (2027) contributed 77.1 IP with a 1.26 ERA as another key piece to Tomball's title run, and he'll be back next spring.

No. 8: Magnolia Heights (MS), 37-4 | MAIS 4A DI State Champions

Eight consecutive MAIS state titles, and 14 total for head coach Chris McMinn, who earned his 600th career victory during this past season. The dynasty continues in Senatobia, Miss.

Top Player: SS/RHP Cole Prosek (2026; Ole Miss) authored one of the most impressive seasons in the country this season, earning Prep Baseball Mississippi Player of the Year honors and he'll surely have national POTY consideration too. He hit .585 with 19 2B, 2 3B, 18 HR, 79 RBI at the plate, and a 3.16 ERA in 57.2 IP on the mound. UTL Christian Doty (2026; Ole Miss) led the team in runs scored with 71 and hit .492 as part of this dynamite offense.

(Cole Prosek; 4/25/26)

No. 9: James Island (SC), 31-4 | 5A I State Champions

Three straight state championships and five overall for the Trojans, who made one of the biggest jumps in the final rankings, climbing from No. 29 to the top-10 this last update.

Top Player: SS Taj Marchand (2026; Ole Miss), the No. 17-ranked senior in the country, hit .531 with 11 2B, 13 HR, and 45 RBIs this spring in a memorable season. In the winner-take-all state title game against nationally ranked Dorman HS, RHP Brayden Easterling (2028) pitched four shutout innings before Marchand closed the final three to complete the shutout and title-clinching victory.

(Taj Marchand; 4/24/26)

No. 10: Delbarton (NJ), 28-4 | Non-Public A State Champions

Delbarton's first state title since 2019 in a matchup against St. Augustine HS, the program they've faced five times in the state title game since 2017 (Delbarton is now 3-2 in the matchup). Head coach Bruce Shatel made it a double in 2026, leading both Delbarton baseball and hockey to state championships in the same school year.

Top Player: SS Sal Garcia (2026; Virginia) played through a late-season shoulder injury and still went 6-for-12 in the state playoffs, finishing the year at .427 with a .748 SLG, 9 2B, 3 3B, and 7 HR.

No. 11: IMG Academy (FL), 22-3

IMG Academy continued to operate as one of the most consistently strong programs in the country despite not being eligible for FHSAA playoff competition.

Top Players: 1B/3B Cy Chrisman (2026; Oklahoma State) led the offense, hitting .439 with a 1.462 OPS (10 2B, 1 3B, 6 HR, 27 RBI). OF Sebastian Wilson (2027; Tennessee) hit .407 with 10 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR, and 23 RBI as a junior, a former Prep Baseball All-American in 2025.

(Cy Chrisman; 3/11/26)

No. 12: South Walton (FL), 30-4 | 3A State Champions

Three straight trips to the state championship game and this time South Walton got its first-ever title, walking it off on a squeeze bunt in the bottom of the seventh against North Broward Prep HS. The Seahawks outscored their postseason opponents 78-11 to make it happen.

Top Player: RHP/INF Coleman Borthwick (2026; Auburn) is a National Player of the Year contender and also the 2026 Prep Baseball Florida Player of the Year. He went 10-0 with a 0.98 ERA equivalent (121 K, 7 BB in 65.2 IP) on the mound, and hit .460 with 16 2B, 9 HR, and 34 RBI at the plate. South Walton's trio of Borthwick, RHP Griffin Loy (2026; Virginia; 0.98 ERA, 63 K), and RHP Denton Lord (2026; Florida; 1.15 ERA, 88 K) formed arguably the nation's most dominant high school rotation.

(Coleman Borthwick; 5/13/26)

No. 13: De La Salle (CA), 23-5 | D1 CIF-North Coast Section Champions

As back-to-back NCS champions and their 16th sectional title overall, the Spartans continued their NorCal reign.

Top Players: RHP/OF Graham Schlict (2026; Stanford) set the California state all-time record for consecutive scoreless innings during the regular season at 62, finishing with 156 Ks in 118 career innings. LHP Cooper Barnes (2027; UC Santa Barbara) delivered a complete-game shutout in the championship game, allowing just two hits, no walks, with six Ks.

(Graham Schlict; 4/1/26)

No. 14: Orange Lutheran (CA), 25-6 | D1 CIF-Southern Section Quarterfinalists

The Lancers won the 2026 NHSI for the fourth time (24-3 all-time at the event) before falling to Norco in the CIF-SS D1 quarterfinals.

Top Players: RHP Gary Morse (2026; Tennessee) is the Lancers' highest-ranked prospect, finishing with a 1.41 ERA (91 K in 54.2 IP). RHP Cooper Sides (2026; LSU) went 6-0 with a 1.10 ERA (44 K in 44.2 IP). SS CJ Weinstein (2026; LSU) led the lineup hitting .351 with 9 2B and 25 RBI.

(CJ Weinstein; 5/5/26)

No. 15: Stoneman Douglas (FL), 28-6 | 7A State Champions

No FHSAA program had ever won five straight state championships. Stoneman Douglas just won its sixth in a row. The 2025 Prep Baseball National Champions entered 2026 with some question marks for the first time in some time, but they went 14-3 down the stretch and topped Venice HS, 2-1, in the 7A title game to capture its unprecedented sixth straight state title in Florida's largest division.

Top Player: LHP/1B Gio Rojas (2026; Miami) is the No. 5-ranked player in the country, capping a remarkable three-year run. He was 11-1 on the mound this spring with a 0.58 ERA in 72.2 IP (124 K, 17 BB) and .375 at the plate with 8 2B, 2 HR, 32 RBI.
