Wisconsin Rising Stars Game: Takeaways

On June 16th, the Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff hosted the Wisconsin Rising Stars Game at Franklin Field in Franklin, WI. Around 50 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff. The group was then split up into four teams and participated in gameplay, to further showcase their talents.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting some of the best statistical metrics from the day.

C/SS Chris Worrell Jr. (Oak Creek, 2030) Balanced, athletic frame with present strength. Continues to look like one of the top incoming freshmen in the state. Left-handed hitter with a smooth, compact, and whippy swing, creating easy bat speed and consistent jump off the barrel with the ability to produce hard contact to all fields. Defensively, looks the part behind the plate with clean, fluid hands and advanced catch-and-throw traits. Also shows the athleticism and hands to handle the infield, giving him the versatility to impact the game at multiple premium positions. An early high-follow prospect in the 2030 class.

OF Tyler Kelenic (Catholic Memorial, 2030) Athletic 6-foot-0, 170-pound frame. High-ceiling prospect in the incoming freshman class. Left-handed hitter with a wide base and simple, repeatable operation. Loose, compact swing with easy bat speed, creating consistent jump off the barrel and showing the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Present strength already translates to impact at the plate, reaching a 91 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed athletic actions in the outfield, working behind the baseball with active feet and controlled body movements through the catch. Arm works with a compact arc from a fluid high ¾ slot, reaching 79 mph from the outfield. An early high-follow prospect in the 2030 class.

INF/RHP Chase Kramer (Oshkosh West, 2030) Physical 6-foot-3, 195-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter with a strong, upright setup and an easy, repeatable operation with rhythm. Fluid hands through the zone, consistent hard contact to the middle of the field and pull side, with easy jump off the barrel. Present strength already translates to impact at the plate, reaching a 98 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed clean, athletic actions with the versatility to handle both the infield and outfield. On the mound, worked with a short leg lift and easy, in-line delivery, featuring a loose ¾ arm action. Fastball sat 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph, while mixing a 66-70 mph slider and 69-73 mph changeup. An early high-follow two-way prospect in the 2030 class.

C Hayden Jones (DeForest, 2030) Strong 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a strong, open setup and a repeatable operation with rhythm. Takes intentful swings and consistently produces hard line-drive contact to all fields, showing present strength and feel for the barrel. Reached a 102 mph max exit velocity, further highlighting the impact potential already present in the bat. Defensively, looks the part as an advanced catch-and-throw defender, working with athletic actions, a quick release, and a strong arm that reached 75 mph while recording pop times in the 2.03-2.15 range. An early high-follow prospect in the 2030 class.

OF/LHP Wyatt Hotchkiss (Wisconsin Lutheran, 2030) Athletic, physical 6-foot-0, 185-pound L/L prospect. Explosive athlete with a 6.88 runner. Left-handed hitter with twitchy actions and present strength, creating hard, intentful contact to the pull side with backspin. Impact already shows in the bat, reaching a 104 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, attacks the baseball with athletic actions, working behind the ball while showing a compact, fluid arm path from a ¾ slot with a quick release, reaching 83 mph from the outfield. On the mound, worked with an up-tempo delivery featuring a medium leg lift and cross-fire finish. Fastball sat 75-77 mph, topping at 77 mph, while mixing in a 68-70 mph curveball. An early high-follow two-way prospect in the 2030 class.

OF/LHP Beau Schur Jr. (Wauwatosa East, 2030) Athletic 6-foot-0, 160-pound frame. Two-way prospect. Right-handed hitter with a balanced setup and a repeatable operation with rhythm. Produced hard, intentful contact to all fields while showing feel for the barrel throughout the round. Defensively, attacked the baseball with athletic actions and a one-hand gather on the glove side, working around the ball while showing a loose arm with full extension to a high ¾ slot and quick release with backspin. On the mound, worked from a controlled delivery with a high leg lift into a drop-and-drive lower half. Featured a full arm circle and loose ¾ release, running his fastball 77-79 mph, touching 80 mph, while mixing a 65-69 mph curveball and a 71 mph changeup.

SS Westyn Kaschub (Sussex Hamilton, 2030) Balanced 5-foot-10, 145-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a balanced base, simple stride, and controlled operation. Loose, fluid hands with some bat speed, consistently working on the barrel to the middle and pull side with intent to lift, creating easy jump off the barrel. Reached a 91 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed clean actions with range up the middle, comfortable hands, and polished double-play footwork while recording a 70 mph infield velocity. An early middle-infield prospect to follow in the incoming freshman class.

OF/INF Konnor Kilinski (Wausau West, 2030) Athletic 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with an upright, balanced setup that gains ground into contact. Stays on top of the baseball, producing hard contact to the middle of the field and pull side. Reached an 87 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed the athleticism and versatility to handle both the infield and outfield with confident hands, light feet, and clean actions. Recorded a 74 mph infield velocity and 79 mph from the outfield.

SS/RHP Parker Meunier (Oconto Falls, 2030) Athletic, twitchy 5-foot-8, 160-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a balanced, repeatable operation and a simple swing. Works on a flatter path with a line-drive approach, flashing backspin at times while reaching a 92 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed athletic footwork, smooth glovework, and a two-hand gather while working confidently through the baseball, recording a 78 mph positional velocity. On the mound, worked with a simple leg lift, landing in line with a full arm circle and fluid ¾ release. Fastball sat 73-76 mph, touching 77 mph, while mixing in a 64-66 mph curveball.

SS/RHP Brock Helms (Hartford Union, 2030) Athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, two-way prospect, 7.08 runner. Right-handed hitter with a balanced setup and knee-knock trigger that gains ground into contact. Works with a longer, slightly uphill path and a gap-to-gap approach, reaching a 93 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed athletic actions with range, working around the baseball with a two-hand funnel into the body and easy arm actions, recording a 75 mph infield velocity. On the mound, worked with a controlled, easy delivery featuring a high leg lift, landing in line with a short arm circle and loose ¾ release. Fastball sat 78-79 mph while mixing in a 67-68 mph curveball.

INF Cody Bauman (Burlington, 2030) Athletic 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame. Two-way prospect and an advanced runner at 7.15. Right-handed hitter with a balanced setup and simple toe-tap trigger, showing an easy, repeatable operation at the plate. Reached an 89 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed quick actions with soft hands and range to both sides, working around the baseball while recording an 80 mph infield velocity. On the mound, worked with an easy, controlled delivery featuring a medium leg lift with tuck into a drop-and-drive lower half. Arm worked from a compact ¾ slot, producing a 73-75 mph fastball that touched 76 mph while mixing in a 65 mph curveball.

INF Cameron Dettman (Greendale, 2030) Strong 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a balanced setup and simple, repeatable trigger. Shows intent to create lift at times, producing easy jump off the barrel with the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Reached a 93 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed clean actions with feel to work around the bag, displaying the ability to make throws from multiple arm slots while recording a 70 mph infield velocity.

1B/LHP Anthony Ramirez (Greendale, 2030) Strong 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame. Left-handed hitter with a simple, easy operation and toe-tap trigger. Rhythmic hands with feel for the barrel, showing occasional jump off the bat and reaching a 94 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, attacked the baseball with a one-hand gather and quick arm action from a ¾ slot, recording a 75 mph positional velocity. On the mound, worked with a fastball at 71-75 mph, complementing it with a 61-63 mph curveball and a 68 mph changeup.

INF/C Cruz Jaramillo (Union Grove, 2030) Strong 6-foot-0, 190-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a simple operation and leg-lift trigger. Strong hands work on a slightly uphill path, producing hard contact to the pull side while reaching a 94 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed athletic actions with a two-hand funnel into the body, range up the middle, and clean double-play feeds. Arm played with full extension to a high ¾ slot, showing accuracy and carry while reaching 82 mph across the infield.

INF/RHP Easton Fleck (Middleton, 2030) Athletic 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a balanced, repeatable operation and leg-lift trigger. Works on an uphill path with a middle-to-pull side approach, reaching an 87 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed athletic actions with a two-hand gather, confident hands, and active feet while moving well around the infield, recording a 73 mph infield velocity. On the mound, worked with an easy, controlled delivery featuring a high leg lift with tuck and coil into a drop-and-drive finish. Arm worked from a longer draw out of the glove with a loose ¾ release. Fastball sat 71-75 mph, touching 77 mph, while mixing a 60-63 mph curveball and a 67-70 mph changeup.

INF/RHP Jack Wians (Franklin, 2030) Athletic 5-foot-9, 135-pound frame. Right-handed hitter with a wider base, weight shifted back, and a coiled bat through the setup. Works with a short, quick stride and simple, fluid hands, creating a slightly uphill path with a line-drive approach through the middle of the field. Defensively, showed soft hands, fluid footwork, and a two-hand gather while working on target, recording a 76 mph infield velocity. On the mound, worked with an up-tempo delivery featuring a medium leg lift into a drop-and-drive lower half. Arm worked from a short, loose ¾ slot, producing a 77-79 mph fastball while mixing in a 65-66 mph curveball.
