The Senior Future Games took place on July 22-23 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the class of 2026 participated in one of the most popular events each year.
We caught up with some of the state's standout performers who competed on Team WestCoast to hear about their highlights on the weekend, overall experience at LakePoint, and what their recruitment process has looked like since attending the event.
Michael Nonis, 2026, C/3B, Centennial High School
In his senior season for Centennial, Nonis was a major threat at the plate. In 87 plate appearances, Nonis hit to the tune of a .361 batting average, driving in 17 runs on 22 total hits. Nonis showed off his power, launching 5 home runs on the year. Behind the dish, Nonis showed off his skills, committing only 2 errors in 161 total chances.
Nonis: "The first time I experienced that was actually at the Future Games the year before, not the Senior Future Games. Honestly, it was surreal. Seeing that many coaches come out to watch 16- and 17-year-olds play baseball is kind of crazy. It’s not something you really think about as a teenager, so being in that environment was pretty special."
Prep Baseball CA: How would you assess your performance this year?
Nonis: "I felt like I did pretty well. I went 2-for-3 with two walks and had two exit velocities over 90. I was really proud of that. It felt like all the work I’ve put in paid off, and it ended up getting me some looks — and ultimately helped me get committed."
Prep Baseball CA: Going from Future Games last year to this year’s Senior Future Games, did you change anything about your approach?
Nonis: "Not really. I just tried to stay within myself and play my game. I didn’t want to let other players’ abilities change my approach. I just went out there and did what I know how to do."
Prep Baseball CA: What was it like being part of Team West Coast?
Nonis: "It was awesome. Everyone brought something different to the table, and all the guys were great teammates. Honestly, I could say something good about every single one of them — it was just a great group to be around."
Prep Baseball CA: What advice would you give to players going to LakePoint next summer?
Nonis: "Don’t get caught up in all the coaches being there. Just play your game. You’re there for a reason — they take the best players to that event. Trust that and go compete."
On September 7th, 2025, Nonis took to social media to announce his official commitment to the University of Nevada.
Prep Baseball CA: Take us through your recruiting process and how you ultimately made your decision.
Nonis: "I got to Nevada, saw the field, met the players, and experienced the culture — and I just fell in love with it. It felt like the right place for me right away."
Prep Baseball CA: What advice would you give to players going through a recruiting process where things might not happen right away?
Nonis: "Don’t get discouraged if you’re not getting the same attention as others right away. Everyone’s path is different. Just keep working hard and trust that your opportunities will come. Don’t base your success off someone else’s — focus on your own journey."
As a dual threat both in the batter's box and behind the dish, Nonis has what it takes to build upon a successful high school career at Centennial, onward to the University of Nevada and beyond.
