QUICK HITS 📓

Elliot Grimes C / SS / East Webster, MS / 2028

C Elliot Grimes is one of the more advanced catching prospects in Mississippi's 2028 class. The 6-foot, 185-pound catcher from East Webster High School is an athletic switch hitter with a well-rounded skill set and legitimate next-level upside. Defensively, he shows advanced actions behind the plate with a 78 mph arm and pop times as low as 1.93 seconds, giving him the tools to control the running game. Offensively, Grimes offers two distinct looks from each side of the plate. From the left side, he features a disciplined gap-to-gap approach with the ability to consistently square balls up, while from the right side he creates more loft and looks to do damage to the pull side, producing exit velocities up to 101 mph. With his combination of athleticism, defensive ability, switch-hitting profile, and physical upside, Grimes is a high-ceiling prospect who should be firmly on the radar of college recruiters and is a must-see talent in the 2028 class.

J. Wamble 3B / 1B / Starkville High School, MS / 2029

Is a physical, high-upside corner infielder in the 2029 class from Starkville High School. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, he already possesses impressive strength and present power, producing exit velocities up to 94.6 mph on TrackMan with a max batted-ball distance of 360 feet. The right-handed hitter has the ability to impact the baseball consistently, and there's reason to believe even more power is coming as his body continues to mature. Defensively, he has the size and arm strength to handle a corner infield spot, reaching 79 mph across the diamond with additional velocity still in the tank. As his athleticism and speed continue to improve, so will the rest of his tools. Womble has a strong foundation, plenty of projection remaining, and is a 2029 prospect recruiters should be tracking closely.

Cash Crumpler SS / 2B / South Panola, MS / 2029

MIF Cash Crumpler is an exciting middle infield prospect in the 2029 class from South Panola High School with a skill set that projects well as he continues to mature. While still smaller-framed, there's plenty of room for physical development, making his current tools even more impressive. Offensively, he shows a polished right-handed swing that consistently works the middle of the field with hard line drives, producing exit velocities up to 93 mph. He also displays above-average athleticism, getting out of the box quickly and posting a 6.81-second 60-yard dash. Defensively, Crumpler has the arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield, reaching 84 mph across the diamond while showing the actions to develop into a complete defender. As he continues to add strength and mature physically, his overall game has a chance to take another significant step forward, making him a 2029 prospect who will be a lot of fun to watch over the next few years.

Murphy Gordon SS / 2B / Starkville High School, MS / 2029

MIF Murphy Gordon is an athletic middle infielder in the 2029 class from Starkville High School with an advanced foundation and plenty of upside. A former Prep Baseball Junior Future Games participant, Gordon opened the event with an impressive 6.94-second 60-yard dash, showcasing his speed and athleticism. Though still smaller-framed, he consistently plays bigger than his size. Offensively, the right-handed hitter features a polished, line-drive swing that uses the entire field well, producing exit velocities up to 91 mph. Defensively, he brings versatility and arm strength to the middle infield, reaching 84 mph across the diamond while showing the actions to handle either shortstop or second base. As he continues to add strength and mature physically, Gordon has all the ingredients to develop into one of the more exciting middle infield prospects in Mississippi's 2029 class and is a player recruiters should keep a close eye on.

Lawson Mullins C / OF / Starkville Academy, MS / 2029

C Lawson Mullins is an advanced young catcher in the 2029 class from Starkville Academy with a strong foundation and plenty of room for growth. At 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds, he already shows the tools to become a quality backstop as his body continues to mature. Offensively, the right-handed hitter produces exit velocities up to 92 mph with a level bat path and a middle-to-pull side approach, consistently creating hard contact. Behind the plate, Mullins displays polished footwork and sound receiving actions, recording pop times as low as 2.03 seconds. While his arm strength and speed will continue to improve—he posted a 7.13-second 60-yard dash—his current defensive instincts and overall skill set already stand out. As he adds strength and athleticism over the next few years, Mullins has the upside to develop into one of the better catching prospects in Mississippi's 2029 class and is a player recruiters should continue to follow closely.

Cole Garrison OF / RHP / West Lauderdale, MS / 2028

RHP Cole Garrison is an intriguing right-handed pitching prospect in the 2029 class from West Lauderdale High School with plenty of projection remaining. The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder features a compact, repeatable delivery that allows him to consistently pound the strike zone and command his arsenal. His fastball worked up to 80 mph during the event, with additional velocity expected as he continues to mature physically. Garrison's best secondary offering is a 73-75 mph changeup that shows excellent separation from the fastball while effectively killing spin, giving it the potential to become a true swing-and-miss pitch. His breaking ball is still developing but already flashes the shape needed to become a reliable third offering. With his clean mechanics, advanced feel for pitching, and remaining upside, Garrison is a 2029 arm who should continue making significant strides, and one recruiters will want to get in front of during the spring season.

Braxton Burks C / 3B / West Union Attendance Center, MS / 2030

C Braxton Burks is a promising 2030 catcher from West Union High School with a sturdy 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame and plenty of long-term upside. Offensively, he shows encouraging present power with a middle-to-pull side approach, creating natural loft in his swing and producing exit velocities up to 92 mph. The strength is already beginning to translate into quality contact, and there's reason to believe even more power will come as he continues to mature physically. Behind the plate, Burks is still refining his craft, but he already displays good footwork and an advanced foundation for his age. As his body develops, his athleticism improves, and he gains speed, his overall defensive tools should take another step forward. With his combination of present strength, offensive upside, and developing defensive skill set, Burks is a 2030 prospect who we feel could be an exciting player to follow over the next several years.

Nathan Love C / RHP / West Lauderdale, MS / 2030

C/RHP Nathan Love is a fundamentally sound 2030 catcher/right-handed pitcher from West Lauderdale High School with plenty of long-term upside. At 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, he still has significant physical maturity ahead of him, but his advanced feel for the game already stands out. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows a repeatable swing with solid mechanics and exit velocities up to 87 mph, giving him a strong foundation to build on as he adds strength. Behind the plate, Love displays quality footwork and developing arm strength, and his pop times should continue to improve as his body matures. On the mound, he features a clean, repeatable delivery with a fastball reaching the upper 70s, showing the ability to consistently throw strikes while leaving plenty of room for velocity gains. With polished fundamentals on both sides of the ball and considerable projection remaining, Love is a 2030 prospect who is well worth keeping an eye on as his game continues to develop.
