Last Chance Summer ID: Durham
On Wednesday, August 19th, Prep Baseball North Carolina hosted the Last Chance Summer ID: Durham at historic Durham Athletic Park. The event featured 30 players from the 2027-2030 grad classes, giving our scouting staff another opportunity to evaluate players while collecting updated statistics, advanced metrics, and video as the summer schedule winds down.
The day began with athletic testing powered by VALD, including the vertical jump, RSI jump, and a laser-timed 60-yard dash. The testing provided verified measurements of each player's speed and explosiveness. Players also completed Vizual Edge testing, providing additional insight into the visual skills used by hitters to track and process the game.
Offensive evaluations followed with multiple rounds of batting practice. TrackMan captured ball-flight and batted-ball data throughout BP, while BLAST Motion collected swing metrics. Players then transitioned to defensive workouts from their primary positions, giving the Prep Baseball scouting staff an opportunity to evaluate athleticism, actions, footwork, hands, arm strength, and overall defensive ability.
The event concluded with controlled bullpens for pitchers and catchers. Pitchers threw with TrackMan collecting pitch velocity, movement, spin, and additional ball-flight data, while the bullpen setting also provided an extended look at catchers and their receiving ability behind the plate.
All statistics, analytics, video, and evaluations collected throughout the day will be added to each player's Prep Baseball profile. In the coming days, Prep Baseball NC will break down the Last Chance Summer ID with statistical leaderboards, data analysis, scouting notes, and player highlights from the event.
