Arkansas Class of 2027 Rankings Update: Post-Summer Edition

The 2027 class has wrapped up their final campaign on the summer cicuit and head into their senior year.  As we take stock after the summer, we take an updated look at the 100 player rankings from the Natural State. The state already has multiple high level commitments off the board but with still plenty of more talent that has yet to choose their next destination. Today we take a look at the Top 10 as well as 10 players worth spotlighting after big late springs and summers.

Rankings Spotlights

Ty Holt C / 2B / Greenwood, AR / 2027

Holt is a top-tier catcher in the state and it shows every time he’s behind the plate. He has tremendous defensive capabilities behind the dish, handling the game with high-level baseball IQ and control of the strike zone. Offensively, he has the ability to drive the ball, highlighted by a top exit velocity of 100 mph. Overall, he impacts the game on both sides of the ball.

Grant Alderson RHP / 1B / Fayetteville, AR / 2027

Alderson is a top uncommitted arm in the state, with true high-end talent on the mound with efficient mechanics that make his velocity look effortless off the mound. He has a solid four-pitch mix that keeps hitters off balance, and he shows confidence in how to use each pitch. On top of that, his pitchability stands out as he can command multiple looks and make adjustments quickly. Overall, he has the tools to keep building into a high-impact starter or reliever.

Kel Mcentire C / OF / White Hall, AR / 2027

Mcentire has been on the rise and he keeps trending upward for a reason. He’s a physical catcher with exceptional athleticism, running exceptionally well for his size and showing strength throughout the game. Offensively, his top exit velocity has reached 102, and he’s also generating big pop behind the plate with arm strength that’s been up to 81 mph out of the crouch. His combination of mobility, power, and arm talent makes him one to watch.

Zayne Walker SS / RHP / Rogers Heritage, AR / 2027

Walker is an infielder to watch, bringing a smooth yet explosive swing from the left side. He stays on plane and generates real bat speed, making hard contact a consistent theme. Defensively, he has a strong arm across the infield, with throws up to 87 mph that help him make plays quickly and move the ball. Overall, he offers impact both at the plate and on the field.

Ryan Mullen OF / 2B / Little Rock Christian, AR / 2027

Mullen is a twitchy athlete with plus speed that really shows on the field. He ran a 6.59 in the 60-yard dash, and that type of quickness translates to how aggressively he plays in the outfield and on the bases. At the plate, he keeps his mechanics simple and looks to make quick, quality contact, with a top outfield velocity reaching 85 mph. Overall, he has game-changing speed plus athletic pop to go with it.

 

Calloway Gum SS / 3B / Shiloh Christian, AR / 2027

Gum is a versatile player with a long, athletic frame and the tools to impact the game in multiple ways. He brings a smooth swing from the left side that generates consistent pop, helping him put pressure on opposing pitchers. Defensively, he plays with solid fundamentals in the infield and does the small things the right way. Overall, his combination of athleticism, bat pop, and reliable defense makes him a serious threat.

Layton Holt 3B / C / Valley View, AR / 2027

Holt is a left-handed hitting infielder with tons of pop and real impact upside. He stays strong through the swing and has shown power at the plate, including a top exit velocity of 102 mph. Defensively, he has a strong arm across the infield with throws up to 86 mph, giving him range and the ability to make plays on the move. Overall, he brings both game-changing bat strength and plus infield arm strength.

Haden Hall SS / RHP / Little Rock Christian, AR / 2027

Hall has a physical frame standing 6’5” and 215 pounds, and it shows in how he plays through contact. He showcases real range at shortstop, moving with athleticism for his size and making plays that keep runs from scoring. At the plate, he uses a simple, uphill swing that helps him get leverage and get the ball in the air. Overall, his combination of size, defensive range, and straightforward hitting approach gives him high upside.

Clayton Ballard LHP / OF / Beebe, AR / 2027

Ballard is a left-handed pitcher who brings real life on his fastball, running it up to 88 mph. He has clean, repeatable mechanics from a 3/4 slot that allow him to stay balanced and efficient. The biggest separator is his pitchabilityhe shows feel for multiple looks and the ability to execute in any situation. Overall, he has the foundation to keep developing quickly as a starter or reliever.

Caden Hoggard RHP / OF / Har-Ber, AR / 2027

Hoggard has made tremendous jumps this summer and it’s easy to see why. He’s developed into a more complete right-handed pitcher with a solid four-pitch mix that gives hitters different looks. His fastball has been up to 88 mph, and the ability to move and command it makes the whole arsenal play up. Overall, he’s trending the right way and has a bright future ahead.
