On Tuesday, July 28th, the Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff hosted the Madison Summer ID at Ziggy Park in Madison, WI. Over 25 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Wisconsin staff.

INF Maxwelton Steinhauer (Phillips Exeter Academy, 2029) Physical 6-foot-3, 242-pound frame with strength throughout. Right-handed hitter who looked the part in the box, taking the top round of batting practice on the day with a wide base and toe-tap trigger, showing present physicality and bat speed while averaging 91.4 mph and reaching a 99 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed clean actions and feet with an 81 mph infield velocity.

INF Symon Pelton (Reedsburg Area, 2029) Strong 5-foot-8, 187-pound frame. Right-handed hitter who took a quality round of batting practice with a wide, repeatable setup, working on plane with feel to lift the baseball while averaging 84.8 mph and reaching a 92 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed steady hands and actions while working around the baseball toward first, using a two-hand gather and shuffle to throw with a short arm action from a ¾ slot, reaching 79 mph across the infield.

C Kohen Look (Middleton, 2028) Strong 5-foot-11, 189-pound frame with strength throughout. Right-handed hitter with a balanced base and leg-lift trigger, repeating the operation while showing strength and bat speed, working on plane with feel to lift the baseball. Averaged 86.8 mph and reached a 95 mph max exit velocity during batting practice. Defensively, showed steady actions behind the plate with a 72 mph catcher velocity and 2.12-2.22 pop times.

C Nick Logue (Oconomowoc, 2029) Strong 5-foot-10, 184-pound frame. INF Colton Barnes (Craig, 2028) Athletic 5-foot-3, 141-pound frame with a 7.30 runner and athletic gait. Right-handed hitter with a wide base and leg-lift trigger, working on plane with feel to lift the baseball in the air and reaching an 88 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, showed steady hands and actions with fluid feet, working through the baseball in rhythm with an 80 mph infield velocity. Full arm action with life from a ¾ slot.

PITCHERS/TWO-WAYS

RHP Lushy Bassolo (Sun Prairie East, 2029) Projectable 6-foot-1, 158-pound frame with room for additional strength. Turned in the top bullpen of the day, working from the stretch with a high leg kick, coil into the back hip, and tall-and-fall delivery. Fastball sat 82-83 mph with life through the zone, averaging 2,118 RPM, while the 68-70 mph slider averaged 2,244 RPM and showed hard sweeping action with the ability to land it for strikes.

RHP Tate Cagle (Edgewood, 2028) Strong, proportional 6-foot-0, 192-pound frame. Tossed a quality bullpen with short, quick movements into a slow gather, high leg kick, and tall-and-fall delivery. Fastball sat 80-81 mph at 2,052 RPM with true life through the zone, while the two-seam showed hard sink and arm-side run. Curveball worked at 71-72 mph with 1/7 action, and the 75-76 mph changeup showed reduced spin and drop.

RHP Jacob Cromey (Lake Mills, 2027) Athletic 5-foot-8, 157-pound frame with a compact delivery featuring short movements, a high leg kick, and coil into the back hip before a drop-and-drive finish. Fastball worked at 80-82 mph, topping at 83, with a two-seam shape and depth through the zone. Changeup worked at 71-75 mph with arm-side fade.

RHP Keenan Davis (Waukesha West, 2027) Athletic 6-foot-0, 184-pound frame with short, balanced movements into a high leg kick and tall-and-fall delivery, working from a loose full arm circle out of a ¾ slot. Fastball sat 81-82 mph with 2,133 RPM and 18.3 inches of average IVB, showing true life through the zone. Mixed in a 69-71 mph curveball with 11/7 shape and loop, a 70-73 mph slider with sweep that he landed for strikes, and a 75-77 mph changeup with vertical drop.

RHP Jonathan Kratz (Sun Prairie East, 2027) Physical, imposing 6-foot-3, 225-pound workhorse frame. Short down the mound with a high leg kick and tall-and-fall delivery, working from a short arm-bar action out of a low ¾ slot with release around the ear. Fastball sat 79-82 mph at 2,107 RPM with true life through the zone, while the two-seam showed slight depth and arm-side action. Mixed in a 65-67 mph curveball with 11/5 shape and a 68-71 mph slider that he landed for strikes.
