Las Vegas Summer ID: Quick Hits

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Summer ID was held on August 2, 2026 at the College of Southern Nevada. The two-day showcase brought together a talented group of players from the 2027–2030 classes, each looking to establish an early evaluation heading into the fall season.
Participants took part in a pro-style workout that included batting practice tracked by TrackMan and Blast Motion, 60-yard dash testing powered by VALD Performance, and a full defensive evaluation. Pitchers threw bullpens tracked by TrackMan, allowing our staff to capture detailed metrics including pitch velocity, spin rate, and horizontal and vertical movement.
We begin our Post Event Coverage of the Las Vegas Summer ID with the Quick Hits, highlgihting the players who made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff.
Bertges turned in a solid two-way showing highlighted by consistent actions in the field and on the bump. At the plate, he registered a 92.0 mph TrackMan max exit velocity and a 290-foot max distance. In the field, he showed off his trending arm strength with a 84 mph infield velocity across the diamond. On the mound, he ran his fastball up to 81.0 mph with a 2166 RPM spin rate, complementing it with a 75.8 mph changeup and a 72.0 mph slider (2033 RPM). His standout day was capped off with a 6.91 60-yard dash during the VALD Speed testing.
Thales Cendana (2028, Palo Verde)
In his first event out with us at the Las Vegas Summer ID, Cendana put together a outstanding performance where he showed off his ability on both sides of the ball. His dynamic athletic profile was immediately put on display as he put up a pair of event bests with a 6.73 60-yard dash and an event-best 27.2-inch vertical jump height. Offensively, his compact, line drive producing swing helped him produce a 95.5 mph TrackMan max exit velocity and a 344-foot max distance. In the field, he continued to show off his athleticism with confident action throught the ball that helped recorded an 82 mph outfield velocity. On the mound, he featured an 85.0 mph fastball with a 2218 RPM spin rate alongside a slider at 70.8 mph (2241 RPM). This is a player we will be following closely this Fall and into the next Spring.
Joey Gallo (2029, Mater Academy East)
Gallo delivered athletic performance at the Las Vegas Summer ID with his added physical strength coming into plays as he put up multiple new personal bests. Offensively, his swing generated a 96.6 mph TrackMan max exit velocity, an 83.9 mph average exit velocity, and a max estimated distance of 302 feet. On the mound, he showed projectable pitchability, running his fastball up to 79.4 mph with a 2204 RPM spin rate alongside a changeup that sat at 67.1 mph. He also flashed athletic traits, logging a 7.11 60-yard dash and a 23.8-inch vertical jump.
Mason Ghadery (2028, Faith Lutheran)
Ghadery asserted himself as one of the premier power arms at the event, landing near the top of the pitching leaderboards. On the mound, he ran his fastball up to an event-best 88.8 mph max velocity with an elite 2585 RPM spin rate. He backed up the heavy fastball with a pair of improved secondary pitches including a 77.2 mph changeup (2004 RPM) and a sharp slider at 77.6 mph with an impressive 2853 RPM spin rate, making him a legitimate high-follow arm.
James Hatfield (2028, Clark)
Now standing at a Prep Baseball Verified 6'3/188, Hatfield displayed his projectable action on the mound during the Las Vegas Summer ID. The right-hander commanded his three pitch mix, topping out at 80.8 mph on his fastball with a 1626 RPM spin rate. He showed present feel for his secondaries, turning over a changeup at 74.7 mph (1876 RPM) and dropping in a slider at 72.6 mph with a 2115 RPM spin rate. He represents an underclass arm to keep on your radar as he continues to add strength to his frame.
Crosby McGreal (2028, Coronado)
McGreal posted some of the loudest offensive numbers of the event, standing out as a present power producer. At the plate, he launched a massive 102.4 mph TrackMan max exit velocity alongside an 89.3 mph average exit velocity and a 357-foot max distance. In the field, he pulled down a stellar 87 mph outfield velocity. On the mound, he touched 84.3 mph on his fastball, an 83.5 mph sinker, and a 78.0 mph changeup, backed by a quick 6.95 60-yard dash. McGreal is slotted to be a breakout candidate for the 2027 High School Season with physical tools all coming together.
Asher Morse (2028, Bishop Gorman)
Morse delivered a tools-forward performance that caught the attention of our staff. The Bishop Gorman product got his day started with a personal best 6.77 60-yard dash and a 22.2-inch vertical jump height. Offensively, he put together arguably his best performance to date, producing a 95.4 mph TrackMan max exit velocity and an 83.3 mph average exit velocity with a line drive producing swing that generated back spin on balls driven to the big part of the yard. In the field, his footwork and hand actions produced a steady 76 mph infield velocity across the diamond.
Ryder Schuette (2029, Lake Mead Christian Academy)
The small school product stood out as a premier multi-faceted performer, earning his spot at, or near, the top of multiple metric categories. At the plate, he produced a loud 96.5 mph TrackMan max exit velocity paired with a stellar 90.4 mph average exit velocity and a 366-foot max distance. In the field, his arm strength was on full display with an 85 mph outfield velocity that stood out as one of the top defensive marks of the event. He carried that momentum onto the bump, featuring an 83.2 mph fastball (2285 RPM), a 73.1 mph changeup, and a 70.0 mph slider (2244 RPM). At 6'3/156.1, their is a lot to like about this player and he is just now starting to scratch the surface of whats to come.
Carter Sekikawa (2029, Southeast Career Tech)
In his first time out with us, Sekikawa put together a polished performance on the bump at the Las Vegas Summer ID. The right-hander showed off a projectable three-pitch mix from a repeatable delivery, running his fastball up to 79.4 mph with a 2101 RPM spin rate. He showed off his present feel for his secondary arsenal, working in a 73.9 mph changeup (1697 RPM) and a slider that sat at 71.0 mph with a 2278 RPM spin rate, making him an underclass arm to keep on your radar as he continues to develop.
Avery Smukal (2028, Coronado)
Smukal put together a productive multi-positional showing at the showcase. At the plate, he registered a 96.3 mph TrackMan max exit velocity and an 84.6 mph average exit velocity. In the field, he showed off his versatility by pulling down an 80 mph outfield velocity while adding a 75 mph catcher velocity and a 2.03 pop time behind the dish, showing off well-rounded traits across the board. This is a blue collar type player that has continued to improve each time out with us.
