On Wednesday, July 29th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX, to host the North Texas Upperclass Uncommitted Games, an invite-only event for the classes of 2027 & 2028.

More than 20 players made their way to Tarleton State and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.

Alan Mireles Madrid | C | Seminole | 2027 | L/R | 6’0”, 170
Great build/frame with room to add strength. Ran a 6.94 60. Solid receiver who showed quality pop times during the workout with carry and accuracy on his throws. Athletic left-handed hitting catcher who produced hard contact off the barrel with a developing approach. Shows the ability to receive and can absolutely help a college program.

Garin Bissonnette | INF | Azle | 2028 | R/R | 6’2”, 166
Projects well physically with plenty of room to add strength. Ran a 6.68 60. Developing actions in the middle infield with carry on his throws and average high school arm strength at present. Shows a middle-of-the-field approach with the ability to handle the bat. Player with upside as he continues to get stronger.

Wayen Slanina-Wertz | C | Canyon Lake | 2028 | R/R | 5’9”, 175
Catcher with a solid build/frame and room to add strength. Received well during game play and showed quickness to release. Posted 1.89-2.00 pop times during the workout, though he did not have an opportunity to throw during the modified scrimmage. Aggressive hitter who produces hard contact off the barrel. Takes a “swing hard in case you hit it” approach, with an opportunity to continue developing the overall hit approach. Catcher who hits the baseball hard.

Kade Bailey | INF | Northwest | 2027 | R/R | 5’10”, 180
Build/frame with room to add strength. Ran a 6.93 60. Feet work on the infield with developing actions. Aggressive hitter who produced solid barrel contact and created backspin. Player who should continue to develop.

Julian Cruz-Gallardo | 1B/3B | Permian | 2027 | R/R | 5’10”, 248
Solid, thick build. Moves well for his size, running a 7.16 60 and showing surprising quickness. Shows actions on the infield but likely makes the eventual move to first base, where he should develop into a solid defender. Produces hard contact off the barrel with the ability to leave the yard to the pull side. The build may create some initial questions, but his play will surprise evaluators.

Jacob Hovind | OF/INF | Princeton | 2027 | R/R | 6’0”, 170
Projectable frame with room to add strength. Ran a 6.98 60. Solid defender in the outfield with an arm that works and raw arm strength that should continue to improve. The swing works with an aggressive, pull-side approach. Player to watch as he continues to mature physically.

Luke Visser | INF | Sachse | 2027 | R/R | 5’11”, 174
Will continue to add strength. Good mover on the baseball field who posted a 6.75 60. Shows carry on his throws with average high school arm strength at present. Aggressive hitter with a pull-side approach. Defensive actions are present, and he projects to remain in the middle of the infield.

Kalum Garner | RHP | Decatur | 2027 | R/R | 6’3”, 207
Solid pitcher’s build with room to add strength. Repeats the delivery well overall, though he can occasionally get quick with the front side. The arm works. Fastball reached 88 and showed some carry at the top of the zone. Has the ability to work effectively at both the top and bottom of the strike zone. Shows feel to spin both a slider and cutter, with each flashing quality action and swing-and-miss potential, especially at the high school level. As the velocity continues to increase, the fastball/slider/cutter combination gives him a chance to develop into a college starter.
