2026 14U National Championship: Event Leaders + Recap

On July 8, the 2026 Prep Baseball 14U National Championship wrapped up at LakePoint in Emerson, Ga., where a champion was crowned after outscoring their opponents in the semifinal and championship game 30-6, taking home the title as the top 14U squad in the country. In this piece, we'll cover the tournament's top performers in conjunction with their in-event data and relevant showcase data compiled since the beginning of 2025.

Tournament Champions 🏆

14U NATIONAL CHAMPS:
East Cobb Astros 14U

East Cobb Astros 14U went undefeated (9-0), dominating pool play and cruising to the PBT national title inside the 14U division, outscoring their opponents 64-8 in their pool before they scored another 42 runs in bracket play, allowing just seven total in the playoffs.

This was one of the most impressive PBT runs we've seen at LakePoint this year. The entire lineup, up and down, ignited opposing pitching, led by OF/RHP James Watson (Mount Paran HS, GA, 2030), who clubbed a whopping five home runs over the course of the week and he also led the tourney in max fastball velo at 89 mph. INF/RHP Trey Vandergriff (Blessed Trinity HS, GA, 2030) recorded a team-high 12 hits across the team's nine games and he was especially clutch on the final day, pitching well in the semis before grabbing a couple of his knocks in the championship game. He was up to 88 mph in that semis appearance as well. INF/RHP Colt Carter (Carrollton HS, GA, 2030) is an athletic two-way with right-handed strength and he was another double-digit hits bat on this team, same goes for 1B Whitten Percy (Walton HS, GA, 2030), a massive, strong slugger who tallied 11 hits himself. C Bear Richardson (Harrison HS, GA, 2030) has an upside 6-foot-3 frame and the right-handed swing with levers helped him collect six extra-base knocks along the week.

Top to bottom, this was one of the best collective team performances our LakePoint staff witnessed this year so far.
