2026 Future Games: Day 1 Recap
July 21, 2026
LAKEPOINT, GA – Team South officially opened play at the 2026 Prep Baseball Senior Future Games on Tuesday, beginning the event with the annual pro-style workout before taking on Team Heartland in the opening game of the week. While Team South came up short in an 8-3 loss, Alabama's representatives turned in several encouraging performances throughout the day in front of a large contingent of college coaches at LakePoint Sports.
The day began with the pro-style workout, where Alabama's position players showcased their athleticism and tools in one of the country's premier recruiting environments. Game action proved to be more challenging offensively, but Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa's Seth Hardin accounted for the lone hit among Alabama's representatives with a perfectly executed drag bunt down the third-base line, displaying his ability to impact the game with his athleticism and feel for the game.
On the mound, RHP Ryan Parent turned in the first outing of the day among Alabama's representatives. The right-hander showed premium arm strength early, operating at 91-93 mph throughout his opening inning before settling into the upper-80s later in the outing. While he battled inconsistent command at times, Parent still worked through two innings while recording a pair of strikeouts, continuing to flash the fastball that has made him one of Alabama's top uncommitted arms.

Closing out the game for Team South, RHP Bryant Hopkins also made a strong impression. The right-hander touched 90 mph while sitting comfortably at 87-89 throughout his two innings of work and complemented the fastball with two distinct above-average breaking balls that generated plenty of attention from the college coaches in attendance. Hopkins had to navigate some traffic during his outing but continued to compete, showing the complete arsenal that should continue to attract recruiting interest throughout the week.
