Miami Summer ID: Quick Hits

The Miami Summer ID took place on Wednesday, June 24, at Miami Dade College in Miami, FL. The event featured players from the 2027-2031 classes participating in a pro-style workout, followed by bullpens in front of the Prep Baseball Florida Scouting Staff.

POWER BATS
2027 Winston Andujar had an impressive day at the plate with an event-leading exit velocity of 104.0 mph, displaying big power to the pull side. Andujar was consistent with his hard contact, averaging an exit velocity of 95.8 mph. 2027 Jesus Esquivia came in second with a 102.3 mph exit velocity. 2028 Edwin Barrientos showed power potential at 99.2 mph with a 92% hard hit rate.

DEFENSIVE STANDOUTS
2027 Winston Andujar stood out defensively at the Miami Summer ID, posting the second-highest velocities from both the outfield (94 mph) and shortstop (91 mph) positions. 2027 Jesus Esquivia and 2028 Jacob Piles both led the outfield group with 95 mph velocities on their throws to third base. 2027 Nomar Reyes had the hardest infield velocity of the event at 92 mph.

ATHLETES
Several players showed above-average athleticism at the Miami Summer ID, with five different players running a sub-6.70 60-yard dash. 2027 Jesus Esquivia displayed impressive speed on Wednesday, recording a 6.39-second 60-yard dash. Esquivia also led the event in left-handed grip strength (166 lbs) and right-handed grip strength (177 lbs). 2027 Nomar Reyes (6.65), 2028 Julius Jessurun (6.66), 2028 Mason Porven (6.69), and 2028 Jacob Piles (6.69) each showed impressive speed as well.

PITCHERS
2028 Caleb Paul showed off a strong arm on the mound, with a fastball that reached 90.0 mph. Paul also featured a slider (74.8 mph, 2276 RPM), changeup (83.4, 1827), and a cutter (85.4, 2260). 2028 Arturo Jose Montealegre recorded a fastball velocity of 86.7 mph in Miami. His arsenal also featured a slider (72.9 mph, 1777 RPM), cutter (81.0, 1785), and splitter (79.5, 1609).
