With the summer circuit finally behind us, it is time for our staff to refresh the rankings before our fall circuit starts to take off. Between events and tournaments, there was a ton of action to be seen, with players making notable strides and raising their own stock.

Today, we are taking a look at some of the notable movement in the rankings, found below.

NEW LOOK TOP-5

+ C Tavin Nass, Franklin: Moving into the top spot after numerous standout performances, including the Prep Baseball Future Games. The physical right/right backstop has done nothing but show an advanced hit tool with present advanced power across all of our looks. Defensively he’s proven to be a valuable contributor behind the plate with soft hands and feel for the pocket with a ceiling of a reliable catch-and-throw defender behind the plate at the next level.

+ RHP Carter Unger, Kewaskum: Some of the highest upside on the mound in the state with a chance to start and a number of quality pitches to the arsenal. Athletic 6-foot-4 delivery with a fastball that reaches into the low-90s and two upside secondaries, an upper-70s two plane breaking ball that plays as a swing and miss offering with a firm heavy changeup.

+ C Breadon Paczocha, Mukwonago: The glove has been the carrying tool and the bat has continued to make strides. Still projectable at 5-foot-10, 177 pounds with growing strength and more athleticism than you’d expect. Consistent quality at-bats with mature swing decisions and the bat speed/strength have continued to tick up. Still a high-ceiling defender with natural actions and an advanced catch and throw tool from behind the dish.

+ MIF Cash Olsen, Tomahawk: Maybe the biggest summer breakout from the Badger State, a physical right-handed infielder with a chance to stick at shortstop long-term. Power over hit at the moment with advanced barrel feel and simple strength with strong hands/wrists with an easily repeatable swing. Defensively flashing clean and fluid feet with a strong enough arm for any spot in the infield flashing enough range to stick at shortstop long-term.

+ MIF Eli Hart, Bay Port: A high IQ prospect that takes consistent quality at-bats. Athlete with more physicality coming to the frame and more impact than you’d think for a prospect his stature and he gets to it consistently in-game. Smooth glove with fluid and athletic actions that translate to either middle infield spot at a high-level.

IMPACT BATS

+ INF/OF Kallen Magli, Sun Prairie West:One of the top performing bats from Team Wisconsin at the Future Games. Table setter that takes consistent quality at-bats with mature swing decisions. Quick right-handed swing with bat speed that works on the barrel through the middle of the field. Versatile “plug and play” defender at a number of positions on the diamond, with enough athleticism and range to play up the middle in both the infield and outfield.

+ INF/OF Cole Pettijohn, East Troy: One of the top athletes in attendance at the Future Games regardless of class from a physical 6-foot, 195 pound frame. Simple right-handed swing with advanced strength that he gets to with ease in game with an above-average or better run to pair. Natural infielder with range and arm strength for the left side and looked the part at the hot corner for Team Wisconsin at the Future Games. More than enough athleticism to play all three outfield spots where the arm plays up more than the dirt.

+ C Toay Ragatz, Lancaster: Physical right/right backstop with advanced bat speed/strength with innate feel to drive the ball in the air. Looked the part of a potential middle of the order bat with a quick and on-plane right handed swing with all fields power. Defensively projects to be a steady catch and throw defender behind the plate long term, quality receiver with feel to block.

+ MIF Maddex Welzien, West Bend West: A smooth fielding infielder with more room left on a lean and athletic frame. Looked the part of a middle infielder for Team Wisconsin at the Future Games with a ceiling at shortstop. Easy range with steady actions and enough arm strength to remain on the left-side long term. Quick right-handed swing with bat-to-ball traits and feel to drive the ball through the middle of the field and more impact coming as he fills into his frame.

+ CF Camden Jeske, Oak Creek: Athletic left-handed hitting center fielder with a high ceiling defensively with quick and accurate reads/jumps on the ball with range to patrol the outfield at a high-level. Steady left-handed swing that maintains plane past contact with feel to drive the ball on a line through the middle of the field. Hit over power at the moment with more impact coming as he fills into the frame.

+ OF Ian McClure, Reedsburg Area: Looks the part in the box at 6-foot-3, 211 pounds, high-end athlete and was one of the top athletes in attendance at the Future Games. 6.41 runner with speed that translates in-game, quick right handed swing with simple strength. Looked the part in the outfield with a chance at sticking at all three spots in the outfield.

UPSIDE ARMS

+ RHP Tyson Resch, Menomonee Falls: High-octance stuff with feel to spin with more to come from a low slot. Physical 5-foot-10 right-hander with a pair of advanced secondaries, a high-spin two plane slider in the upper-70s and a heavy fading changeup in the low-80s. The fastball routinely works in the upper-80s, reaching into the low-90s on occasion with feel to work to both sides of the plate.

+ RHP Maxwell Webb, Port Washington: Starters looks standing at 6-foot-2 with more to come into the frame. There’s advanced feel to pitch with a four pitch mix, the fastball sits in the mid-80s (T87 mph) with life and more to come from a velocity standpoint. Two breaking balls, a firm 11/5 curveball with feel to land and a sweeping slider and a firm fading changeup rounding off the arsenal.

+ RHP Tanner Bergey, Jefferson: High-waisted and long-levered 6-foot-7, 204-pound frame. Bergey presents an interesting look and a tough AB utilizing a five-pitch mix with two fastball shapes, two breaking ball shapes, and a changeup to round off the arsenal out of a 6.4’ average release height and 7.1’ of average extension.

+ LHP/OF Malachi Schoonover, Craig: Intriguing look out of a 5-foot-10, 171-pound frame, Schoonover presents tough AB’s out of a funky LH release and a three pitch mix, creating deception and tunneling with a unique release at 6.3’ of average extension and a 6.3’ average release height with feel to work up in the zone with the fastball.
