Washington Class of 2027 Rankings - August Update
August 19, 2026
Over the next several weeks, Prep Baseball Washington will unveil our latest series of player rankings updates. Updates to the lists come at the conclusion of the summer showcase circuit, where standout performances have resulted in a number of changes to each respective class. Today, we begin our latest series of updates with the 2027 class.
Washington's 2027 class continues to exemplify its depth and talent, with 225 players securing a spot in the latest rankings list. Many players saw changes in their ranks after performances at events, including Scout Days, Summer ID's, and our biggest event of the summer, the invite-only Pacific Northwest State Games. Below are notes on the latest rankings list, including notes at the top, summer standouts, and uncommitted names to circle.

At The Top
A new player takes over the number one spot in the rankings in Tumwater RHP/OF Luke Overbay. The Future Games alum and University of Michigan commit has continued to get better and make big strides, particularly on the mound. Overbay caught the attention of Prep Baseball's VP, Scouting Shooter Hunt at Area Codes in recent weeks, and built on this with an incredibly impressive outing at the 2026 Northwest Scout Games. Below is an excerpt from Overbay's Scout Games outing.
"...Despite throwing just one inning on the mound, Overbay's mixture of standout stuff and positive results earned him Pitcher MVP honors at Scout Games. Listed 6'4, 205 pounds, Overbay has steadily gotten better in each of our looks on the hill over the past year and change. The fastball was up to 94 MPH, sitting more 91-93 MPH with heavier life. The CH continues to show as a plus pitch, generating swing and miss late in counts at 75-78 MPH. He also mixed in a couple of sliders as his third pitch at 70-74 MPH, landed in-zone early in counts and looking to expand off the plate late in counts. The ultra loose, whippy arm action combined with natural athleticism and size give the Michigan commit an ultra-high ceiling moving forward."

Overbay's progress on the mound has come at no expense to his offensive skillset. The long-levered righty still displays above average raw power at times and has shown the aptitude to get to the power in-game. Overbay has delivered powerful bat speed and tighter turns with triple digit exit velocity power in showcase looks. Pairing this with quality outfield defense and a plus arm in a corner, and the two-way ability remains present.
Elsewhere at the top, several other 2027's showcased their skillsets in their summer curcuits. Sumner's Wyatt Plyler holds the number two spot in our latest ranks, featuring his usual two-way ability. Plyler had a massive spring, earning First-Team All-State and winning a 4A state championship with Sumner. The athleticism leads the way here, and if he can continue to develop either at the dish or on the hill, the Wake Forest commit will be a high ceiling prospect. Union's Rylan Howe has also continued to show well, seen at PNW State Games, Area Codes, and NW Scout Games. The 6'5 arm is a strike thrower with a fastball into the low 90's and looks likely to wind up as a starter at the next level.
Peninsula's Pete Browand jumps up to the number five spot as one of the few other changes in the top ten. Few players have hit as consistently as the catcher, who nearly took home offensive MVP honors at PNW State Games with an impressive trio of games. Browand carried the hot bat over to Area Codes, where he was the most successful PNW bat in-game with multiple loud hits against quality arms. The Fresno State commit enters his senior season as a POTY type impact talent.

Summer Standouts
Many players bolstered their status with quality summer showcase performances. Lincoln INF Anders "Dewey" Diller was exceptional at the Seattle Summer ID - Session II and earned a signifcant jump up the ranks as a result. The righty's strength is well distributed in a 6'0, 170 pound frame. He ran a 6.85 60 time to start the day, paired with sound defensive actions at SS with throws up to 85 MPH across. The bat really took a step forward in his latest look, delivering loud rounds of BP with a peak exit velocity of 103 MPH and balls hit up to 394 feet. Diller plays with a cool confidence in all facets and is a recent commit to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

A similarly potent bat seen this summer, West Valley's Colton Worley was great at PNW State Games. An imposing presence in the box at 6'6 200 pounds, Worley moves well for his size and features an impact power tool. His BP was one of the best of the biggest PNW event of the year, with EV's up to 104.8 MPH while averaging 98.7 MPH. Worley got it done in-game as well and looked to fit well in a corner OF role. He ran a 6.96 60 yard dash last summer and generated throws up to 83 MPH in this look. The Whitworth commit could be a real breakout contender in his final year of high school ball.
On the pitching side, Seattle Prep's Ben Cunningham really elevated his status with a couple of strong showings. Cunningham was great at PNW State Games, working the fastball up to 88 MPH with a SL/CH offspeed pairing. The 6'3 righthander then held his own at NW Scout Games, striking out a pair of top-end hitters in two innings of work. An uncommitted prospect to this point, Cunningham also ran a 6.63 60 and posted triple digit exit velocities at the plate at State Games. He was a key to Seattle Prep's success this spring and will be a vital piece next year, and he just seems to keep getting better.
Uncommitted Names to Circle
Few players have had as good of a year as Othello's Xzyyvn Martinez, who continued his strong 2026 with a fantastic outing at PNW State Games this July. The righty allowed just a single hit and no walks over three innings, striking out two batters. He worked the fastball into the upper 80's, but both the CH and the SL were really the keys to his success, located well and thrown in all counts. Martinez maintains a polished mechanical operation and style on the mound that will consistently breed success in-game. Pairing his strong summer showing with a spring season in which he didn't allow a single earned run, and Martinez lands as one of the highest ranked uncommitted arms in our ranks list.

Another standout performer at PNW State Games who remains uncommitted is O'Dea outfielder Luke Bishop. The lefty stick was an XBH machine during gameplay, carrying a heavier barrel through the zone with present bat speed in all three games. His State Games begun strongly as well, setting new PB's with loud BP rounds and a best exit velocity of 102.2 MPH, averaging 93.2 MPH. He also ran a 7.16 60 time and had throws up to 82 MPH from the outfield. Bishop profiles well as a middle of the order, corner OF type at the next level.

Perhaps a bit more of a sleeper uncommitted name, Sumner's Shaun Sanoy has had an exceptional last few months. At PNW State Games, Sanoy flashed real upside and ability all week long. The long strider ran a 6.70 60-yard dash, and carried a heavy, accurate barrel in BP. Sanoy worked the gaps with a peak EV of 98.7 MPH and balls hit up to 358 feet. In-game, he was on base multiple times, jumping on pitches to hit early in counts to find success. Despite limited varsity action in on of the best HS programs in the state, Sanoy could be a real breakout candidate and is a riser uncommitted name in our rankings to follow.
