Alec Olivas has made a noticeable jump over the past year, with the athleticism that first stood out now being joined by considerably more strength and offensive impact. The Catalina Foothills outfielder checked in at the recent SABA Scout Day at 6-foot-3, 173 pounds with a lean, muscular build and put together his best overall workout to date.

Olivas reached 107.2 mph in max exit velocity, averaged 102.2 mph off the bat and drove balls up to 418 feet. He also ran a personal-best 6.54 60 with a 1.61 10-yard and 3.65 30-yard split, while reaching 21.2 mph in max run speed. The arm took another step as well, topping at 89 mph from the outfield.

The progression is clear when looking back to his first Prep Baseball looks from last summer. Olivas has added roughly 10 pounds to the frame while maintaining his athleticism, and that added strength is beginning to show up throughout the profile.

CURRENT NUMBERS

The biggest jump has come with the bat. At the Tucson Summer ID in August of 2025, Olivas was more of a speed-and-contact profile, topping at 94.9 mph off the bat with a 350-foot max distance. By December, the strength was beginning to show more as he reached 97.3 mph and drove his best ball 380 feet.

He crossed the 100 mph mark for the first time at the Preseason All-State in February, reaching 101.3 mph. Six months later at the SABA Scout Day, that number climbed again to 107.2 mph, while his best ball carried 418 feet.

Olivas works with a direct path and has shown the ability to stay through the baseball and use the opposite field in game action. There is now considerably more strength behind the swing, with the latest look showing the ability to drive the baseball with authority while keeping the same athletic foundation that has always been present.

Now at 6-foot-3, 173 pounds, Olivas has added roughly 10 pounds since his first look last August. The frame remains lean, but there is noticeably more muscle throughout and the added weight has come without taking away from his movement.

The added strength has shown up in the bat and arm while the run tool has remained intact, giving Olivas a more physical profile than the one we saw a year ago.

Speed has been one of the most consistent pieces of Olivas' game. He ran a 6.62 60 at the Tucson Summer ID last August and stayed in that range throughout the fall before lowering it to a personal-best 6.54 at the SABA Scout Day.

The latest splits were strong throughout the run. Olivas was out in 1.61 through 10 yards and 3.65 through 30 before finishing the 60 in 6.54, with a max run speed of 21.2 mph. He has also previously posted a 28.5-inch vertical and 2.13 RSI in VALD testing.

The speed gives Olivas range in the outfield, and the arm has also taken a step forward. He reached 85 mph from the outfield at the Tucson Summer ID and was up to 89 mph at SABA.

There is athleticism to the defensive actions with enough arm strength to handle multiple outfield spots. The 6.54 speed gives him the ability to cover ground, while the added carry on his throws continues to strengthen the defensive profile.

Over the past year, Olivas has gone from a lean, athletic outfielder whose speed was the first tool to stand out to a more physical player with significantly more offensive impact. The frame has added roughly 10 pounds, the max exit velocity has climbed more than 12 mph and the arm has jumped four mph, all while the speed has remained a strength and recently improved to a 6.54.
