Southeast Super Sophomore Games: Alabama Quick Hits, Pitchers

EMERSON, GA – The 2026 Southeast Super Sophomore Games returned to LakePoint Sports this past weekend, bringing together more than 275 of the Southeast's top 2029 prospects for two days of workouts and game action. With four Team Alabama squads competing against some of the region's premier young talent, players had the opportunity to showcase their tools in front of the Prep Baseball staff while beginning to establish themselves as names to follow in the years ahead.

The following Quick Hits article highlights several standout pitchers from Team Alabama with brief scouting notes and observations gathered throughout the weekend.

Kramer looked the part of one of the premier southpaws in the Southeast's 2029 class, further backing up his status as a top-five prospect in Alabama. The athletic left-hander creates a tough look with a deceptive delivery that features some cross-fire, hiding the baseball well before working the fastball at 84-87 mph and topping at 88.7 mph. He showed advanced feel for a 70-72 mph slider, consistently burying it for chase in deeper counts, while also turning over a 78-80 mph changeup as a quality third offering. The combination of present stuff, deception, athleticism, and remaining upside gives Kramer one of the more intriguing young pitching profiles in the class.
Allison possesses one of the more projectable two-way profiles among Alabama's 2029 prospects, with plenty of upside remaining on both sides of the ball, but particularly on the hill. The 6-foot-5, 168-pound right-hander has a long, lean, athletic frame with considerable room to fill out and add strength. On the mound, he leaned heavily on the fastball throughout his two innings, working at 85-87 mph with heavy sink and natural arm-side run while mixing a 74-77 mph slider. Allison also brings present positional tools to the profile, running a 6.71-second 60-yard dash and reaching 86 mph from the outfield. There should be plenty more velocity to come as the frame matures, making the progress on the mound worth following closely over the next few years.
Ridley showcased his two-way upside with a few quality innings on the mound, giving another look at the developing stuff from the left side. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound southpaw possesses a strong, physical frame and works downhill well throughout the delivery. His fastball sat 83-85 mph and topped at 86.5 mph, pairing it with a 69-72 mph curveball and a 76-79 mph changeup to round out the three-pitch mix. The stuff is currently ahead of the command, but there is still development to come as he gains consistency on the mound.
In a game where velocity often grabs the attention, Hornbuckle's ability to simply pitch was a breath of fresh air. The left-hander toyed with hitters throughout three quality innings, putting on a clinic in pitchability while consistently adding and subtracting with a polished three-pitch mix. His fastball topped at 81.1 mph but played above the velocity, and he showed the ability to change speeds with a slower curveball featuring big depth. Hornbuckle also turned over a quality changeup that gave hitters another speed and shape to account for, keeping them off balance throughout the outing.
