Future Games Spotlight: Chase Alonso

It was an excellent showing for Alonso to close out the game against a potent lineup in Team Florida. Ability to mix all 4 pitches well as he punched out a pair across a scoreless two-innings pitched. Physical, broad-shouldered 6-foot-2, 209-pounds with body control and projection remaining. Bulldog demeanor and attacks in-the-zone with intent. Arm speed is present with ability to repeat the delivery and hides the ball well from a three-quarter slot. Heavy fastball through the zone at 88-90 and induced plenty of swing-and-miss in the zone. Two distinct breaking balls mixed in and showed a tight slider that tunneled well with short break for whiffs at 78-81. Curveball created more 12/6 depth at 77-79. Sparingly used a changeup to round out the arsenal that was shown to LHH at 81. Big-league bloodlines with projection remaining paired with present pitchability should have p4 coaches chomping at the bit come August 1st.

Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-2, 198-pounds.
Delivery: Effective mechaincs that hides the ball well. Gets down the slope easily and violently.
Arm Action: RH. 3/4 Release. Violent arm action and comes after hitters with both fastballs that produced aplenty of in-zone whiffs. Primary offspeed pitch was a mid-70s slider with some sweep and late action that righties didn't have an answer for. Also worked in a low-80s changeup that effective against left-handed bats. Intriguing pitchability and feel for each pitch.
FB: T88, 88-88 mph. Showcased two FBs; a four-seam sitting 88-89 MPH with ride traits. Also worked in a sinker at the same velocity with intriguing arm-side run. T2075, 2025 average rpm.
SL: 75-79 mph. T2192, 2071 average rpm.
CH: 84-84 mph. T2000, 2000 average rpm.

Chase Alonso, Rabun Gap Nacoochee School (GA), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-2, 198-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Open stance with toe-tap. Gets in good rhythm with swift hands up to contact. Upward swing path that presents loud juice especially to pull-side. Stays well balanced with each swing. 70.4 mph bat speed with 5 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 87.2 mph. 365' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-91 mph. Excellent arm strength.
Defense: INF - Athletic mover at the position with good footwork; displays good range to both sides and gets the ball out of the glove swiftly with firm arm action.

6-foot-1 185-pounds. This is year 3 of seeing Alonso, and he just keeps getting better. We 1st saw him as a 13 year old at a rising stars event, and he turned into a 2 time Junior Future Gamer for Team Georgia. On the mound he showcases one of the most electric fastballs in the class, and has been up to 89, and will consistently sit in the mid to upper 80’s. He has feel for spin with a 12-6 curveball that pairs well with the fastball. He uses the fastball up in the zone for swing and misses regularly as well. He has an older brother that at the division 1 baseball ranks, and Chase should not be too far behind him as one of the top names in the state for the 2028 class.

Uncommitted. Impressive outing from the imposing 6-foot-1, 185-pound RHP. Racking up 6 whiffs and four strikeouts through two-innings of work. Working with a dynamic two-pitch mix. The fastball displayed heavy bore and sat 84-86 MPH and topped at 87 MPH. The gyro slider was shown at 75-77. Arm to follow in the 2028 class.

Uncommitted. 6-foot, 170 pounds. 2023 Junior Future Games alumni. Alonso flat-out rakes, had a hot summer and has continued that into the fall. Tall, athletic frame with proportional strength. Small hand load with good hand speed and a toe tap in stride. Simple, repeatable swing. Alonso is simply a gamer and a can’t-miss hitter wherever he is. Also had an inside-the-park grand slam during the tournament! Looking forward to see Alonso continue to show out this fall. 

Alonso started on the bump today for team Georgia going 2 IP with 1 K and limiting Louisiana to two runs.He has a ¾ AA with mid depth. Alonso pounded the zone with his FB and threw an occasional CH to keep hitters guessing. Alonso has an EZ, repeatable delivery that gets on hitters quick. Alonso also barreled in a couple of RBIs for Team Georgia in the first. 6-foot, 170 pound frame with a small hand load and toe tap in stride. Strong wrists with a powerful upper half for age. Barreled a 2-run RBI triple, 94 EV(Drop 5), to extend Georgia’s lead to 3-0.
