Quick Hits: 2026 Junior Future Games

Emerson, GA - The Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to the LakePoint Sports Complex from July 24-26, 2026 for the 2026 Prep Baseball Future Games, which saw the nation's top 2030-2031 prospects compete against each other. Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60-yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion. This year's Louisiana group went a perfect 3-0 in gameplay with wins over Canada, Massachusetts, and Oklahoma. Below, we take a look at the standout performers from this year's Louisiana Junior Future Games team.

Braydon Peveto SS / 3B / Sulphur, LA / 2030Peveto played a key role in Louisiana's perfect 3-0 run at the 2026 Junior Future Games, emerging as one of the club's most consistent offensive threats. The left-handed hitter seemed to produce a quality at-bat every time he stepped into the box, finishing the week 3-for-5 (.600) with a double, two triples, and four RBI. What stood out most was his advanced feel for the barrel and mature offensive approach. Peveto consistently adjusted from pitch to pitch, controlled the strike zone, and drove the baseball to all fields with confidence. With his polished hit tool already showing at such a young age, he's a player we're excited to follow as he begins his high school career at Sulphur High School and one who has all the makings of a high-level prospect over the next four years.

Brant Restovich OF / LHP / Loyola College Prep, LA / 2030Athletic 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame with plenty of room to add strength. The talented two-way prospect was one of Louisiana's more intriguing performers at this year's Junior Future Games. Offensively, Restovich flashed present bat speed and natural loft through the zone, producing exit velocities up to 94.4 mph with a max batted-ball distance of 363 feet. He consistently put together competitive plate appearances throughout the week, finishing 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch. On the mound, Restovich earned the Game 3 start against Oklahoma and put together a quality two inning outing. He worked with a loose, easy arm action and showed an 83-86 mph fastball featuring natural arm-side run from the left side. He also demonstrated encouraging feel for both his slider and changeup, reinforcing the upside that makes him an exciting follow in Louisiana's 2030 class.

Townsend Boyd C / SS / Catholic, LA / 2030Boyd was one of Louisiana's most complete offensive performers at this year's Junior Future Games. The future Catholic High Bear finished 2-for-2 with an RBI, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch, and was a perfect 6-for-6 in the quality at-bat column. He features a connected, efficient swing with present bat speed and emerging impact, highlighted by a scorching 103.2 mph single that showcased his ability to drive the baseball. His performance behind the plate was equally impressive. Boyd displayed advanced defensive instincts for his age, receiving and blocking with confidence while consistently getting rid of the ball quickly on throw downs. He also erased a would-be base stealer with a 1.96-second pop time, further cementing himself as one of the top young catching prospects in Louisiana's 2030 class.

Derrick Carley Jr OF / RHP / John Curtis Christian, LA / 2030Carley Jr. packs plenty of explosiveness into a compact, athletic frame and was one of Louisiana's most exciting two-way performers at this year's Junior Future Games. Offensively, Carley Jr. went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch, showcasing his quick-twitch athleticism and explosive bat speed throughout the week. On the mound, he slammed the door in Louisiana's win over Oklahoma, striking out five over the final two innings. An athletic mover with a quick, compact arm action, Carley Jr. attacked hitters with a lively low-to-mid 80s fastball that topped out at 87.6 mph. He also showed advanced feel for spin, consistently landing a low-70s curveball with late, sharp bite and spin rates up to 2,514 rpm. His combination of athleticism, arm talent, and two-way ability makes him one of the more intriguing young prospects in Louisiana's 2030 class.

Ayden Barnes SS / 2B / Tioga High School, LA / 2031Barnes was one of the most enjoyable young prospects to watch on Louisiana's Junior Future Games team, showing measurable improvements across nearly every facet of his game at the LakePoint Sports Complex. He posted personal bests in the 60-yard dash (7.23), max exit velocity (86.8 mph), and infield velocity (76 mph), highlighting the strides he's made physically over the last few months. Defensively, Barnes continues to separate himself as one of the premier infield defenders in the class. He has an advanced feel for creating quality hops with his footwork, takes efficient angles to the baseball, and has the ability to deliver accurate throws from multiple arm slots across the diamond. Offensively, the switch-hitter features a simple, repeatable swing from both sides of the plate with a line-drive approach geared toward using the middle of the field. Barnes saved his best performance for Louisiana's final game against Oklahoma, going 1-for-2 with a firm single and another well-struck line drive to right field that was caught, capping off a solid all-around week.

Tyler Simon 2B / RHP / Sulphur, LA / 2030Simon put together one of the most productive all-around performances of any Louisiana player at the 2026 Junior Future Games. The future Sulphur Tor got the start on the mound in Game 1 against Canada and tossed two innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out two. Simon consistently filled the strike zone with a polished three-pitch mix, led by a 78-83 mph fastball that he confidently located to all four quadrants of the zone. His offensive production was equally impressive. Simon reached base consistently throughout the week, finishing 3-for-5with a double, an RBI, and a walk. He showed an advanced ability to get the barrel to the baseball, spraying hard contact to all fields and proving to be one of Louisiana's most reliable offensive contributors.

Harris Dennis LHP / OF / South Beauregard, LA / 2030Dennis emerged as one of the more intriguing prospects on Louisiana's Junior Future Games roster and is a player whose stock is clearly trending upward. The talented left-hander closed out Louisiana's Game 2 victory over Massachusetts, working the final two innings with a poised, efficient outing. Dennis is a smooth, athletic mover down the mound and delivers the baseball with a loose, easy arm action that produces minimal effort. He attacked hitters with a 78-82 mph fastball featuring natural arm-side run from the left side and complemented it with a developing breaking ball and changeup. With his projectable delivery, clean arm action, and feel for three pitches, Dennis is a name that will be worth monitoring closely over the coming years.
