On Wednesday, July 14th, Prep Baseball of South Carolina hosted the Team South Carolina Trials at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.  This event serves as a key evaluation platform, helping identify prospects for several of the summer’s premier invite-only showcases, including the PB Senior Games, Top Prospect Games, PB Junior Future Games, PB Senior Future Games, and the PB Future Games.  The Trials featured players from the Class of 2027 through the Class of 2029.

During the event, position players participated in a professional-style workout that included a comprehensive defensive evaluation. Infielders and outfielders fielded ground balls and made throws, with arm strength recorded using a Stalker radar gun. Catchers executed throws to second base, with both arm strength and pop times measured.

Hitters underwent swing analysis with Blast Motion, while all ball flight data was recorded using TrackMan.  Speed and explosiveness were assessed through Vald Performance lasers, capturing 10-30-60-yard sprint splits, along with jump metrics.

Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen session, where each pitch was tracked by TrackMan to analyze ball movement and overall performance.

Xander Fly RHP / 1B / Chapman, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 114 / POS: 33 Fly continues to impress with a projectable 6-foot-3 frame and an athletic delivery that creates quality arm speed. The right-hander worked 84-85 mph, showing a fastball with solid life through the zone and the ability to consistently attack hitters.  He complemented it with a 72-73 mph breaking ball that flashed developing shape and an upper-70s changeup that gave him a quality third offering.  With his size, athleticism, and three-pitch mix, Fly remains an intriguing 2027 arm with plenty of upside as he continues to add strength.

Banks Mizell RHP / OF / Greenville Academy, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 50 / POS: 5 Mizell continues to show advanced arm strength for the 2029 class with a projectable 6-foot frame and clean arm action.  The right-hander worked 81-83 mph, showing a fastball with quality life through the zone and the confidence to attack hitters.  He complemented it with a 72-74 mph breaking ball and a 77-78 mph changeup, giving him a developing three-pitch mix with solid feel. With present velocity, projection, and a polished arsenal for his age, Mizell is one of the more intriguing young arms in South Carolina's 2029 class.

Caleb Neal 1B / RHP / Mauldin, SC / 2027 Neal showcased a projectable 6-foot-2 frame and a quality three-pitch arsenal throughout his bullpen.  The right-hander worked 82-84 mph and touched 85, showing a fastball with life through the zone and the ability to attack hitters consistently.  His 73-75 mph breaking ball flashed tight spin and developing depth, while the 75-79 mph changeup gave him another reliable weapon with good separation off the fastball.  With his size, athleticism, and feel for multiple pitches, Neal continues to trend as an intriguing arm in South Carolina's 2027 class.

Brayden Royal LHP / 1B / Christ Church Episcopal, SC / 2029 Royal continues to stand out as one of the more intriguing young left-handed arms in the 2029 class.  The 6-foot-1 southpaw worked 79-82 mph and touched 83, showing a fastball with quality angle and the ability to consistently fill the strike zone. He complemented it with a 70-71 mph breaking ball that flashed solid shape and feel for strikes, while the 72-74 mph changeup gave him a quality third offering with developing deception. With his projectable frame, left-handed arm, and advanced three-pitch mix, Royal has the foundation to continue climbing as he matures.

Tucker Siffri 1B / RHP / J. L. Mann High Academy, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 24 / POS: 1 Siffri continues to emerge as one of the more intriguing young arms in South Carolina's 2028 class.  The right-hander worked 81-83 mph and touched 83, showing a fastball with quality life and the ability to consistently attack the strike zone.  He mixed three secondary pitches, highlighted by a 69-70 mph breaking ball with depth and a 74-75 mph changeup that showed quality separation and feel, giving him a complete four-pitch mix.  With his physical 6-foot-2 frame, present stuff, and advanced pitchability, Siffri has the foundation to continue making significant jumps on the mound.

Walker Thomason OF / RHP / Rock Hill, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 44 / POS: 7 Thomason continues to establish himself as one of the top power arms in South Carolina's 2027 class.  The 6-foot-3 right-hander worked 86-87 mph and touched 88, showing a fastball with present life and the ability to pitch aggressively in the strike zone.  His 77-79 mph slider flashed sharp, late bite and projects as a swing-and-miss offering, while the 81-82 mph changeup showed advanced feel and excellent velocity separation to round out a quality three-pitch arsenal.  With his physical frame, arm strength, and developing secondary stuff, Thomason has the ingredients to continue trending upward.
