Southeast Super Sophomore Games: Alabama Quick Hits, Infielders

EMERSON, GA – The 2026 Southeast Super Sophomore Games returned to LakePoint Sports this past weekend, bringing together more than 275 of the Southeast's top 2029 prospects for two days of workouts and game action. With four Team Alabama squads competing against some of the region's premier young talent, players had the opportunity to showcase their tools in front of the Prep Baseball staff while beginning to establish themselves as names to follow in the years ahead.

The following Quick Hits article highlights several standout infielders from Team Alabama with brief scouting notes and observations gathered throughout the weekend.

Sharpless put the finishing touches on a massive summer, cementing himself as one of the premier hitters in Alabama's 2029 class. After hitting over .450 with nearly double-digit home runs against elite competition this summer, the offensive profile continues to speak for itself. The more physical 6-foot-1, 183-pound shortstop still retains quality athleticism and possesses a polished feel for the barrel with power that consistently translates into game action. He works with easy, quiet actions at the plate, showing the ability to cover the entire strike zone while maintaining outstanding balance and body control throughout the swing.
Boulo continues to look the part of one of the premier prospects in Alabama's 2029 class and backed up his top-10 ranking with another impressive all-around showing. The 6-foot-3, 186-pound shortstop possesses an imposing, projectable frame with present strength and arguably the best collection of tools at the event. Offensively, he works with a controlled load and easy, athletic actions, utilizing a textbook swing with a clean path through the zone. The tools showed up throughout the workout as he ran a 6.89-second 60-yard dash, reached 90 mph across the infield, and posted a 100.8 mph exit velocity. Boulo also carried that performance into game action, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple in his first game, and his ceiling will only continue to rise as the production keeps matching the tools.
Few Alabama players did more to elevate their stock at the Southeast Super Sophomore Games than Prime, who backed up an impressive summer with a true breakout performance at LakePoint. The athletic 5-foot-8, 153-pound shortstop showcased a polished left-handed hit tool with developing impact, carrying his quality round of BP into game action with multiple hits. Prime works from an active setup with good rhythm and utilizes a textbook swing with a clean uphill path that allows him to consistently find the barrel. He also flashed his athleticism with a 6.89-second 60-yard dash and looks like a name college coaches should continue to track closely over the next year.
Gregory continues to trend as one of the more intriguing two-way prospects in Alabama's 2029 class, pairing a projectable frame with quality tools on both sides of the ball. The athletic 6-foot-2, 187-pound shortstop still has room to continue growing into the frame and adding strength. Offensively, he consistently lived in the pull-side gap throughout BP, showing quality barrel control and posting a 98.0 mph exit velocity. Gregory also showcased his upside on the mound, working 84-86 mph and further reinforcing the value of his developing two-way profile.
Hawarah continued to show one of the better pure hit tools among the Alabama players in attendance, consistently finding the barrel throughout the event. The left-handed hitter possesses advanced barrel feel and routinely sprayed line-drive contact to all fields with a mature offensive approach. His feel for contact translated into game action, highlighted by turning around an upper-80s fastball with two strikes for a double into the right-center field gap. Hawarah's advanced hit tool and barrel skills continue to make him an intriguing follow as a high floor prospect in Alabama's 2029 class.
Strickland continues to prove he's one of the more dependable gamers in Alabama's 2029 class, consistently performing every time he's on the field. The 5-foot-10, 164-pound switch-hitter shows quick, twitchy actions from both sides of the plate and delivers the barrel on a level path with an advanced feel to hit. He consistently found the barrel throughout the event, posting a 92.4 mph exit velocity while once again showcasing the quality hit tool that has become a trademark of his game. Strickland also displayed intriguing two-way ability by working in the low 80s on the mound.
Allen continued to showcase the explosive athleticism and offensive upside that make him one of the more intriguing young infielders in Alabama's 2029 class. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound infielder features quick-twitch actions throughout the swing and delivers the barrel on a fast, level path that consistently produces firm contact. He paired a 93.6 mph exit velocity with a blazing 6.60-second 60-yard dash, highlighting the impact athleticism in the profile. Allen also carried the offensive performance into game action, driving a hard-hit extra-base hit to right field.
Newsom continued to showcase an advanced offensive skill set throughout the event, consistently finding the barrel in both the workout and game action. The lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pound infielder possesses a present feel to hit with advanced barrel control that allows him to produce quality contact with regularity. He turned in a 6.95-second 60-yard dash and reached 90 mph across the infield, highlighting the athleticism and arm strength in the profile. Newsom also carried the offensive performance into game play, collecting multiple hits over the course of the event.
Love showcased serious offensive impact throughout the event, consistently driving the baseball with authority during both BP and game action. The physical 6-foot, 196-pound first baseman possesses the strength and left-handed bat that fit the mold of a middle-of-the-order run producer. He works with simple, quiet actions and a compact left-handed swing that allows the strength in the frame to produce loud gap-to-gap contact. Love posted a 97.2 mph exit velocity during BP and carried it into gameplay, hammering a ball off the right-field wall for an impressive double.
The projectable 6-foot-3, 168-pound prospect continues to show intriguing two-way upside with plenty of room for future development. He possesses a lean frame that should continue adding strength, and there still appears to be considerably more to tap into on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he works with a short, simple stride and delivers the barrel on an uphill path through contact, posting a 93.6 mph exit velocity during the workout. He also showcased quality arm strength on the mound, topping at 85 mph and reinforcing the upside of his developing two-way profile.
