Barrel Factory Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Friday, July 31st, the PB Texas staff traveled to McClennan Community College in Waco, TX, to host the Barrel Factory Scout Day.
More than 40 players made their way to MCC and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.
Quick Hits
Cooper Denard | 3B/OF | Crawford | 2027 | 5'9" 200
Physical corner player with present strength and the ability to impact the baseball. Defensively, shows a quick exchange in the INF with an arm that plays well across the diamond. At the plate, shows strength in the hands and barrel with pull side pop. Backed up the offensive profile in game play with a double to left center field, highlighting his ability to drive the baseball with authority.
Stacey (Tripp) Egbert | C/3B | Teague | 2027 | 6'0" 205
Physical catcher with a strong work ethic and a sturdy 6'0", 205 pound frame. Behind the plate, posted 1.95 to 2.01 pop times, receiving and blocking well while showing quickness through the exchange. At the plate, displays quick hands with present strength, creating pull side pop and producing exit velocities up to 100.3 mph. Solid catching prospect with offensive upside and the toughness to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Brayden Terry | OF | Robinson | 2027 | 5'10" 170
Athletic outfielder with a 6.86 sixty and the ability to cover ground in the OF. Moves well defensively, plays through the baseball, and shows solid arm strength with throws up to 83 mph from the OF. At the plate, displays quick hands with present bat speed and offensive upside as the approach continues to develop. Athletic follow with the tools to continue making strides on both sides of the ball.
Haiden Kempton | INF | Riesel | 2028 | 5'8" 155
Athletic INF with a 6.96 sixty and a fundamentally sound defensive skill set. Shows solid actions on the dirt with feet that work, a quick release, and instincts that allow the arm to play up. At the plate, features quick hands with a flat bat path, consistently showing bat to ball skill and the ability to square pitches up. Sneaky juice with an offensive profile that should continue to trend upward as he adds strength to the frame.
Eli Klanika | RHP/INF | Axtell | 2029 | 6'3" 165
Projectable two way prospect with a long, athletic 6'3", 165 pound frame and plenty of room to add strength. On the mound, shows a repeatable delivery and feel for a four pitch mix. Fastball sat 80-82 mph with arm side run, proving effective at the bottom of the zone, while the curveball featured short, quick action with feel for spin. At the plate, works on plane with good rhythm to the stroke, quick hands, and some barrel release through the zone. Backed up the offensive tools with a triple to left center field during game play. High upside follow with projectable size and the ability to impact the game as both a pitcher and position player.
Aidan Ray | INF | Groesbeck | 2029 | 6'1" 175
Projectable INF with an athletic 6'1", 175 pound frame and plenty of raw upside. Defensively, shows solid footwork through the baseball while working from a lower arm slot.. At the plate, displays quick hands with present bat speed, producing exit velocities up to 96.7 mph. Athletic mover with intriguing tools and the projection to continue making significant strides as he adds strength and experience.
Mason Kainer | OF/RHP | Oak Ridge | 2030 | 5'11" 160
Athletic two way prospect with a projectable 5'11", 160 pound frame and quality upside. Defensively, moves well in the OF with an 80 mph arm that shows carry to the baseball. At the plate, features a solid stroke with a flat path, working inside the baseball and showing the ability to drive extra base hits. Backed up the offensive tools with a line drive base hit to right field during game play. On the mound, the fastball sat 76-78 mph with more velocity still to come as he continues to mature physically. High upside follow with athleticism and intriguing tools on both sides of the ball.
Mason Summers | SS/3B | Riesel | 2030 | 6'0" 181
Physical young INF with a strong 6'0", 181 pound frame and intriguing upside. Defensively, shows a compact, short arm path with a quick exchange and solid actions that project well on the dirt. At the plate, displays present bat speed and the ability to create loud barrels, backing it up in game play with a base hit to left field. Strong follow in the 2030 class with physicality, developing offensive impact, and a solid defensive foundation.
