South Texas Upperclass Uncommitted Games: Quick Hits

On Wednesday, August 5th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Houston Christian University in Houston, TX, to host the South Texas Upperclass Uncommitted Games, an invite-only event for the classes of 2027 & 2028.
More than 30 players made their way to HCU and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting the top statistical performers. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways on some of the prospects who stood out throughout the event.

Roderick Buckler II | OF | Channelview | 2027 | 5'10" 203
Physical, athletic OF with a strong 5'10", 203 pound frame and a loud tool set. Posted a 6.77 sixty with the speed translating to the field, moving well in OF play while showing a strong 92 mph arm. At the plate, the power stands out, producing exit velocities up to 105.5 mph with 11 swings over 100 mph. Carried the tools into game play with a line drive base hit to right center field and a stolen base. Impact offensive profile with a combination of strength, athleticism, arm strength, and present power.
Luke Betancourt | RHP/SS | Fulshear | 2027 | 6'1" 164
Athletic right handed pitcher with a lean 6'1", 164 pound frame and a quick arm from a three quarter slot. Works with good tempo, attacks the strike zone, and shows feel for a three pitch mix. Fastball worked up to 85+ mph with 18+ inches of horizontal movement, while the 73-74 mph slider showed approximately 2100 rpm. Mixed a 79-80 mph changeup around 1000 rpm to give hitters a different look. Came out sharp in game play, striking out three of the first four hitters faced. Strike thrower with pitchability and room to continue adding to the arsenal.
Jaxon Harris | C | Tomball Memorial | 2028 | 5'8" 191
Physical catcher with a solid 5'8", 191 pound frame and quality tools behind the plate. Shows well as a receiver with quick feet, a smooth exchange, and an accurate 79 mph arm that produces carry through the bag, posting 1.95-2.01 pop times. At the plate, works from a balanced swing with quick hands and an up the middle approach. Carried the tools into game play with a base hit to left field and threw out a runner at second base with a 2.00 pop time. Solid two way contributor with catch and throw ability and a quality offensive foundation.
Cannon Boyd | OF/RHP | A&M Consolidated | 2028 | 6'1" 178
Athletic two way prospect with a strong 6'1", 178 pound frame and plenty of upside. At the plate, shows strength in the hands and barrel with a pull side approach, producing exit velocities up to 100.2 mph. On the mound, the fastball sat 87-89 mph, topping at 90.8 mph with approximately 19 inches of IVB and more velocity in the tank. Curveball worked 75-77 mph around 2450 rpm, showing quality shape and the potential to develop into a true weapon. High upside arm with present stuff, physical projection, and the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball.
Graeson Sare | OF | Houston Christian | 2028 | 5'11" 167
Athletic left handed hitting OF with a 5'11", 167 pound frame and a well rounded skill set. At the plate, shows an up the middle approach with hands that work well through the zone and the ability to use the entire field. Backed up the hit tool in game play with a line drive single to left field, a line drive base hit to right field, and a deep fly ball to center field. Defensively, is a solid mover in the OF with dependable actions, while posting a 6.99 sixty. Quality offensive follow with feel for the barrel and the ability to consistently produce competitive at bats.
Cannon Karnuth | SS/2B | Katy | 2028 | 5'11" 155
Athletic switch hitting INF with a 6.88 sixty and quality actions on both sides of the ball. Moves well on the dirt and on the bases, showing smooth defensive actions with a quick exchange and release. At the plate, stays inside the baseball from both sides with quality bat to ball skill and developing doubles pop. Carried the offensive tools into game play with a line drive single up the middle and an RBI base hit to right field. Well rounded middle INF with athleticism, defensive feel, and a quality offensive foundation.
Braylon Austin | OF | Cypress Falls | 2027 | 5'7" 148
Left handed hitting OF with a quality hit tool and a strong feel for the barrel. At the plate, shows good rhythm between the hands and lower half with quality bat to ball skill, the ability to turn the barrel, and sneaky juice. The hit tool stands out as his biggest weapon with a chance to consistently produce quality contact. Defensively, is a steady OF with quick feet, a solid first step, and an arm that works, profiling best in LF at the next level. Skilled offensive player with feel to hit and a well rounded foundation.
Noah Hernandez | SS/3B | Summer Creek | 2027 | 5'8" 181
Physical INF with solid tools on both sides of the ball. Defensively, shows present glove actions with feet that work and plenty of arm strength, reaching 86 mph across the diamond. At the plate, features quick hands with present pull side juice, producing exit velocities up to 97.1 mph in BP. Backed up the offensive tools in game play with two loud barrels, including a double to left field that one hopped the wall. Strong offensive profile with the ability to impact the baseball and handle multiple spots on the left side of the INF.
Carlos Thachar | OF | Episcopal | 2027 | 5'9" 203
Physical OF with a strong 5'9", 203 pound frame and present tools on both sides of the ball. Defensively, profiles as a steady corner OF with plenty of arm strength, producing throws up to 92 mph from the OF. At the plate, shows strength in the hands and barrel with the ability to impact the baseball to the pull side, reaching exit velocities up to 101.8 mph. Physical right handed bat with present power and arm strength that fit the corner OF profile.
Christian Hamilton | SS/OF | Manvel | 2027 | 6'1" 156
Hamilton has a solid frame to continue to add strength, and already shows the ability to impact the baseball. He is a steady defender at SS with enough arm to stick. Although he hasn't played a ton of OF, the athleticism and arm allow him to patrol all 3 spots. He took qaulity reps in the defensive portion of the workout and it carried in game where he makes the routine plays look easy and gets to balls that you would think are hits off the bat.
