SoCal ProCase: Pitcher Analysis

On May 31st, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the SoCal ProCase at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2027-2028), and gave our staff an ample look at the area’s top prospects.

Today, we will we’re taking a look at scouting reports on all of the pitching prospects from the event, as well as a top-5 overall:
TOP PITCHING PROSPECTS
1. Easton Sarmiento, Ruben S. Ayala (CA), 2027 UC Santa Barbara
Positional Profile: LHP/OF Projectable two-way player with long levers and room to fill out. A synced turn produces present line-drive power at the plate.
Body: 6-2.2, 168-pounds. Lanky frame with long levers and room to fill.
Delivery: Front facing wind up delivery. Glove starts just below chest level. High leg kick towards the chest that coils well into the rear hip. Strong hip-shoulder separation when the front foot lands. Looks balanced and even throughout, driving well down the mound.
Arm Action: LH. 3/4 release point with a full-circle arm backpath. Very loose, easy release with slight recoil present.
FB: T91, 90-91 mph. Works downward in the zone with slight ASR present. T2349, 2257 average rpm.
SL: 79-82 mph. Spins well with a lot of horizontal movement present. T2535, 2447 average rpm.
CH: 85-86 mph. Plays well off the fastball with some diving action. T2197, 1977 average rpm.
