Central TX Upperclass Uncommitted Games: Infielder Analysis

By: Prep Baseball Texas Scouting Staff

On Saturday, August 1st, the PB Texas staff traveled to McLennan Community College in Waco, TX, to host the Central Texas Upperclass Uncommitted Games, an invite-only event for the classes of 2027 & 2028.

More than 30 players made their way to MCC and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting more of the traditional statistical categories, as well as a Quick Hits, highlighting some of the events top performers, while also posting Data Dives for both Pitchers and Position Players.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports on every infielder in attendance as well as rank the top 5 from the event.

+ FULL STAT SHEET

TOP INFIELD PROSPECTS

1. Kasen Langerhans, Cedar Ridge (TX), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/OF LHH/INF Projects well physically for adding strength. Plus runner, good mover, speed will firm. Actions developing, will have ability to play anywhere on the infield. Solid bat/power combo developing. Player who knows how to play the game. Baseball instincts present.
Body: 5-10, 172 pounds. Width to back/shoulders. Good middle, lower showing strength. Projects well physically in future.
Hit: LHH. Toe tap stride, rotational back foot, drives left hit forward, uses lower 1/2 in swing. Hits into firm front leg/side. stride foot into ground. Solid hit approach. Hands/barrel start in solid position. With stride, back elbow raises creating slight barrel tip over top of cap causing minimal length to swing. Recommend trying to soften elbow movement, looking to launch barrel from area more behind head allowing for direct path to baseball with barrel, if comfortable launching from that position. Launching from this position will increase ability to get on plane with balls middle/away, instead of fading flyballs to left field or balls fouled off. Especially evident on video from behind plate view. Nice job of handling pitches on inner 1/2 now.
Power: 95 mph max exit velocity (85.4 avg.); 340-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 78 mph. Arm works, shows carry to throws on back hand play. Stands up after fielding baseball, work to stay low/athletic when making throws with feet moving, this will increase raw arm strength immediately.
Defense: Moves to baseball well, breaks down to field. Play thru baseball with feet when field, slows/stops now. Field baseball out front while playing thru baseball with feet, presently fields baseball deep. Stands to throw, stay low/athletic. Easy adjustments.
Athletic Testing: 6.90 runner in the 60-yard dash; 21.50-inch max vertical jump. Solid start, run form. Plus runner, good mover.
Vizual Edge
: 74.44 Edge Score.
