Oklahoma 2027 Class Senior Superlatives: Power Hitters
August 21, 2026
From flamethrowers who light up the radar gun, to big bats who can leave the yard at any time, to lightning quick athletes with jaw-dropping 60 times, the 2027 class is full of standout prospects. Over the next few days we'll be diving into which seniors have seperated themselves from the pack with their advanced tools.
To kick things off, we'll be highlighting the seniors who have proven to have big-time power at the plate, looking at four different power-hitting metrics to decide who takes home the title of the 2027 class' top power bat.
To do this, we've combed through the metrics from all of our events over recent years and will rank the top 20 seniors in each category. From there, a scoring system will be used to award points to each player based on their ranking, with 1st place receiving 20 points, 2nd place recieving 19 points etc. In the event of a tie, all involved players will split the points for those positions equally. (EX: Two players tied for first place would each receive 19.5 points) After each category has been ranked, we'll add up each player's points, with whoever ends up with the most points being crowned the winner.
Max Exit Velocity
Kaden Twyman (Stillwater HS, Oral Roberts Commit) stands alone at the top of a deep list of hitters with the lone 105+ EV, beating out the second highest mark, 102.6 mph off the bat of Luke Franks (Broken Arrow HS, Oral Roberts Commit) by a full 2.5 mph. In total, seven hitters have crosssed the threshold into triple digits, with 18 hitters topping the 98 mph mark.
Average Exit Velocity
Easton Welch (Asher HS, Uncommitted) jumps from third place to first place as we shift gears to see which prospects possess the most repeatable power. There's plenty of overlap at the top, with seven players from the top ten of the max EV list holding strong in the top ten here. Preston Klose (Yukon HS, Uncommitted) and Wade Webb (Mount St Mary HS, Oral Roberts Commit) break into the top ten after being on the outside looking in, while Gehrig Phillips (Geronimo HS, Uncommitted) bursts onto the scene at No. 7 after an abscence on the previous list.
Max Distance
Easton Welch continues to set the pace with a max distance with a 407 ft blast, claiming the top spot for the second time and making it 3/3 top-three finishes. Andrick Golden (Heritage Hall HS, Uncommitted) makes it three consecutive lists inside the top ten, joining Welch as the only two seniors to rank inside the top ten in each category thus far.
Average Distance
Make that three in a row for the Asher product, leading the class once again with an average distance of 347 feet, beating out second place Elijah Parkhurst (Edmond Santa Fe HS, Oklahoma Commit) by an impressive 34 feet.
Only four players found themselves on all four lists: Easton Welch, Wade Webb, Luke Franks and Dagan Grizzle (Sallisaw HS, Cowley JC Commit).
With that, below are the final rankings after tallying up scores from each of the four lists.
