2026 Top Prospect Games: Pitcher Quick Hitters

The Prep Baseball South Carolina Top Prospect Games brought together some of the state’s top 2027-2030 prospects on Saturday, August 15, at Winthrop University. This invite-only event featured a talented group of players from across South Carolina, giving our scouting staff another opportunity to evaluate some of the state’s top prospects in one setting.
The Top Prospect Games remain one of Prep Baseball’s longest-standing class-specific events and have built a strong reputation for attracting high-level talent. Rosters are formed through past event performances, high school season evaluations, statistical production and continued looks from our scouting staff. The event provides another important look at players who have shown the tools, athleticism and performance to project to the next level.
The day began with a full position-player workout, including running, batting practice and defensive evaluations, before transitioning into live game action. Pitchers took the mound against live hitters, allowing our staff to evaluate players in a competitive setting following the morning workout. With the event complete, our staff now turns its attention to breaking down the performances, metrics and prospects who stood out at the 2026 SC Top Prospect Games.

Silas Brown RHP / OF / Broome High, SC / 2027Rankings StateRank: 67 / POS: 20
Brown put together a solid outing, limiting opposing hitters to one hit while collecting two strikeouts. The physical 5-foot-11, 201-pound right-hander worked 82-85 mph, touching 87 mph, with good tempo and repeatable mechanics throughout his delivery. His fastball showed cutting action and paired well with a 73-77 mph changeup, while a sweepy 72-75 mph slider gave hitters a different shape to handle. While the command wavered at times with three walks, Brown worked through traffic, limited damage, and showed the ability to miss bats with his three-pitch mix. |

Ben Cartin RHP / SS / A.C. Flora, SC / 2028Cartin turned in an impressive two innings of work, allowing no hits while striking out three and issuing two walks. The 5-foot-11 right-hander worked 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph, with a fastball that showed quality arm-side run and played well from a repeatable delivery. He paired it with a hammer 69-71 mph slider that showed sharp action and swing-and-miss potential, while also mixing a 70-76 mph third offering. Cartin showed good feel for the strike zone and the ability to attack hitters with multiple pitches, making for a strong overall outing. |

Xander Fly RHP / 1B / Chapman, SC / 2027Rankings StateRank: 114 / POS: 33
Fly showcased an intriguing, projectable look on the mound with a long 6-foot-3, 191-pound frame and plenty of athleticism. The right-hander worked 83-85 mph, touching 86 mph, with a fastball that showed quality ride through the zone and played well from his release. He mixed in a 74-75 mph breaking ball and 79-80 mph changeup, giving him a three-pitch arsenal with good velocity separation. Fly’s athleticism, physical projection, and developing pitch mix give him an intriguing foundation on the mound. |

Noah Hughes RHP / 3B / Laurens, SC / 2028Hughes turned in an impressive two innings of work, allowing no hits while collecting three strikeouts and issuing two walks. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound right-hander worked 82-84 mph, touching 85 mph, from an easy, repeatable delivery with good feel for the strike zone. His fastball showed cutting action and paired well with a spin-heavy 70-71 mph curveball that reached 2672 RPM, giving him a quality swing-and-miss breaking pitch. He also mixed in a depthy 77-78 mph changeup, rounding out a three-pitch mix that kept hitters off balance throughout the outing. |

Nolan Humbert RHP / Hanahan, SC / 2029Humbert showed an advanced feel for his arsenal with a quick, repeatable delivery and the ability to mix pitches with confidence. The 6-foot-1, 164-pound right-hander worked 83-84 mph, touching 85 mph, with a fastball that showed quality ride through the zone. He paired it with a big 68-70 mph curveball that featured depth and showed good feel for locating it in and around the zone. Humbert also mixed in a 75-78 mph changeup, rounding out a three-pitch arsenal. His pitchability, strike-throwing feel, and room to continue adding strength make him an intriguing 2029 arm. |

Mayo turned in a dominant outing, striking out four of the five hitters he faced while showcasing an advanced three-pitch mix. The 5-foot-10, 171-pound right-hander worked 82-83 mph with an easy, efficient delivery and a fastball that showed quality ride through the zone. He paired it with a sweepy 72-75 mph slider that gave hitters a different shape to handle, while a 78 mph changeup featured arm-side run and played well off the fastball. Mayo’s ability to miss bats, mix three distinct offerings, and attack hitters highlighted an impressive outing. |

Paiden Mergo RHP / OF / Brookland-Cayce, SC / 2027Rankings StateRank: 62 / POS: 18
Mergo looked sharp in only his second live outing in a while, striking out three of the five hitters he faced and showing plenty of quality stuff. The projectable 6-foot-4, 185-pound right-hander worked 88-90 mph with a lively fastball from a smooth delivery and loose arm action. He paired it with a wipeout 78-80 mph slider that reached 2750 RPM and mixed in an 83 mph changeup with running action to complete the three-pitch mix. Mergo showed good feel for his entire arsenal and competed with confidence throughout the outing. It was an encouraging look and good to see him back on the mound competing in live action. Zak Perry RHP / 1B / Gray Collegiate Academy, SC / 2027Rankings StateRank: 38 / POS: 11
Perry delivered a dominant look on the mound, striking out three of the four hitters he faced while showcasing a powerful three-pitch mix. The physical 6-foot-2, 210-pound right-hander worked 86-90 mph with a firm fastball that played with authority through the zone. He paired it with a sharp 79-80 mph slider and a depthy 79-81 mph changeup, showing the ability to change pace and keep hitters from settling in. Perry’s strong frame, competitive presence, and ability to attack with three quality offerings give him a true workhorse look on the mound. |

Phillips put together a strong outing, striking out three of the four hitters he faced while consistently creating uncomfortable at-bats. The physical 6-foot-1, 234-pound right-hander worked 82-84 mph with a lively fastball that played well through the zone and helped generate weak contact. He showed multiple breaking-ball shapes, including a 72 mph offering and a firmer 75-76 mph breaker, giving hitters different looks throughout the outing. Phillips also mixed in a changeup to round out the arsenal. His physical presence, ability to miss bats, and mix of distinct pitch shapes highlighted an impressive look on the mound. |

Rzemyk turned in an impressive two innings of work, striking out four while allowing just one hit. The projectable 6-foot-5, 185-pound right-hander worked 84-87 mph with an efficient delivery and quick tempo that allowed him to consistently attack hitters. He showed good control of his fastball shapes, with the heater producing quality ride at up to 16.2 inches of IVB. Rzemyk paired the fastball well with a sharp 74-76 mph slider, giving him a quality swing-and-miss offering. His combination of size, strike throwing, tempo, and ability to miss bats made for a strong outing. |

Carson Scott RHP / SS / Woodmont, SC / 2027Rankings StateRank: 87 / POS: 27
Scott turned in an efficient two innings of work, collecting two strikeouts while consistently filling up the zone and generating weak contact. The right-hander worked 85-86 mph, touching 87 mph, showing both four-seam and two-seam fastball looks that allowed him to attack hitters with different movement profiles. He paired the fastballs with sharp breaking stuff in the 75-79 mph range that reached 2774 RPM, along with an 80-82 mph changeup featuring quality arm-side run. Scott’s strike-throwing ability, multiple pitch shapes, and feel for changing looks kept hitters off balance throughout the outing. |

Levi Sobczak 1B / 3B / Oceanside Collegiate Academy, SC / 2027Sobczak put together a quality outing, collecting two strikeouts while allowing only one hit and consistently generating weak contact. The athletic 6-foot-2, 195-pound right-hander worked 77-82 mph, touching 83 mph, with a fastball that showed quality ride through the zone. He paired it with a sweepy 75-76 mph slider that he showed good feel for locating and using to keep hitters off balance. Sobczak’s athletic frame, strike-throwing ability, and feel for his fastball-slider combination highlighted a solid overall outing. |
