Last Chance Summer ID: Preview

This Sunday, August 23rd, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the Last Chance Summer ID at Triton JC in River Grove, IL. This is an open event for 2027-2030 high school grads, and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY

This is the second year we have hosted this event, and it has provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the Prep Baseball Future Games and Illinois State Games. Among those in attendence of the Last Chance Summer ID event in 2025, 7 have made commitments.

2026 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like last year.

Jenner Smith RHP / OF / Hersey, IL / 2028

From April 3th

"Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 27 in the state. 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame, high-waisted with broad shoulders, room to continue to add strength. Started on the mound and battled over six innings, allowing five earned runs with two walks and nine strikeouts. Not an easy day to pitch with some rain and low-40s temperatures, Smith held 80-81 mph throughout all six innings, also mixing in a sharp 11/5 curveball he could land in the zone whenever he wanted, 68-70 mph. High-ceiling arm to follow that is also intriguing with the bat."
