From flamethrowers who light up the radar gun, to big bats who can leave the yard at any time, to lightning quick athletes with jaw-dropping 60 times, the 2027 class is full of standout prospects. Over the next few days we'll be diving into which seniors have seperated themselves from the pack with their advanced tools.

Today we'll be highlighting the seniors who have proven to be the state's top flamethrowers, looking at five different fastball metrics to decide who has the 2027 class' best heaters. 

To do this, we've combed through the metrics from all of our events over recent years and will rank the top 20 seniors in each category. From there, a scoring system will be used to award points to each player based on their ranking, with 1st place receiving 20 points, 2nd place recieving 19 points etc. In the event of a tie, all involved players will split the points for those positions equally. (EX: Two players tied for first place would each receive 19.5 points) After each category has been ranked, we'll add up each player's points, with whoever ends up with the most points being crowned the winner.

Max FB Velo

Cole Dunlap (Edmond Memorial HS, TCU Commit) has set himself apart from the rest of the class in terms of top-end velocity, topping out at 95 mph in-game last spring to beat out a pair of hurlers tied for second in Keon Young (Enid HS, Oklahoma State Commit) and Mason Rainbolt (Checotah HS, Uncommitted). There's some quality depth at the top of the rankings, with each member of the top ten being gunned at 90+ mph.

FB Velo Range

We see some movement in the rankings as we shift our focus to velo range, with guys like Beau Davis (Carl Albert HS. Uncommitted), Jake Lopez (Broken Arrow HS, Dallas Baptist Commit) and Riley Rosser (Broken Arrow HS, Uncommitted) all jumping in the rankings. Jace Basquez (Preston HS, Cowley JC Commit) continues to impress as well, landing at sixth in each of the first two lists.

AVG FB Spin (RPM)

Jaxon Adcock (Cameron HS, Oklahoma Commit) takes over the top spot as we move in to spin rate at a 2,452 RPM average. A couple of new names join him in the top five in Kash Knowles (Purcell HS, Uncommitted) and Brody McLaren (Bethany HS, Uncommitted) in third and fourth polace respectively.

AVG FB IVB (Induced Vertical Break)

Grant Adams (Deer Creek HS, Uncommitted) storms onto the scene as we shift gears to IVB, running away with the top spot with a 26.0, beating out a familiar face in Mason Rainbolt who took second with a 23.2. Chase Garner (Norman North HS, Uncommitted), Bryson Deaver (Mustang HS, Butler CC Commit) and Lane Sexton (Carl Albert HS, Uncommitted) round out the top five, each posting marks over 22 inches.

AVG FB HM (Horizontal Movement)

Will Talburt (Tahlequah HS, Uncommitted) takes the top spot in our final category, running his heaters an average of 22.3 inches to the arm side. Traylon Barnes (Tuttle HS, Oral Roberts Commit) and Cole Bray (Skiatook HS, Uncommitted) make a late run at the final rankings, landing in the top five after picking up points in the velocity lists.
