Missouri Class of 2028 Rankings Update: Post-Summer Edition

The 2026 summer circuit has wrapped up, and the Prep Baseball Missouri staff has made a post-summer update to the Show-Me State’s 2028 rankings as this class heads into its junior year. With the August 1 recruiting window now open for the class, this refreshed list takes stock of the summer’s performances, including takeaways from the Future Games, and highlights 200 players with several notable newcomers and plenty of movement across the board.

Charlie Habel RHP / Glendale, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
Charlie Habel continues to climb the 2028 rankings, moving from No. 7 to No. 3 in the latest update. The 6-foot-5 right-hander began the summer as the No. 68-ranked player; however, after a dominant performance at the Missouri State Games, Charlie has continued to trend upwards, all the way through his Future Games performance, where he once again impressed. Habel is an athletic mover with a rare combination of size and stuff, highlighted by a fastball that has reached 91 mph. Charlie has a sky-high ceiling and has established himself as a top-three player in the state.

Asher Krimmel RHP / Lafayette, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 2
Krimmel moves into the top five in the updated 2028 rankings, rising from No. 9 to No. 4. The right-hander out of Lafayette continues to separate himself with his ability to consistently spin the baseball, highlighted by a slider that has reached 3,073 rpm. Just as importantly, Krimmel consistently attacks the zone, giving him a strong foundation to continue developing as one of the top arms in the class. His performance at the Future Games further reinforced his standing among the state’s best.

Jack Sutherland SS / Logan-Rogersville, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 2
Jack Sutherland moves into the top 10 in the updated 2028 rankings, rising from No. 11 to No. 6. The athletic, strong-bodied left-handed hitter has continued to impress with a smooth swing and an approach that allows him to work to both gaps. Sutherland posted a 97.2 mph max exit velocity at the Future Games and continues to show the combination of athleticism, strength, and offensive upside that has him firmly among the top players in the state.

Eliyah Powell C / MICDS, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 2
Powell makes a significant jump in the updated 2028 rankings, moving from No. 31 to No. 19. The athletic left-handed hitting catcher has plenty of upside and showed well throughout the Future Games, producing hard contact consistently in both BP and gameplay. Powell also posted a 95.9 mph max exit velocity, while showing a 1.89-1.97 pop time. Look for him to continue to rise as he adds size, strength, and polish.

Griffin Robertson OF/SS / Blue Springs South, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 5
Arguably no player increased their stock more at the Future Games than Griffin Robertson, who makes one of the biggest jumps in the updated 2028 rankings, moving from No. 54 to No. 20. The switch-hitting center fielder/middle-infielder raked throughout gameplay, putting together one of the best offensive performances from a Missouri bat at the event. Robertson is a 6.66 runner who can play all over the field and has shown exit velocities north of 100 mph, giving him an intriguing combination of athleticism, versatility, and offensive upside. Griffin is an exciting, high-follow prospect as he heads into his junior year.

Graham McCluer C/RHP / Blue Springs, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 30 / POS: 5
Graham McCluer makes the biggest jump in the updated 2028 rankings, moving from No. 92 to No. 30. The two-way prospect continued to show well in game play this summer, showcasing his athleticism and versatility on both sides of the ball. McCluer is a 7.01 runner who has posted a 1.96-2.12 pop time and 94 mph exit velocity. A switch hitter with an upper-80s arm on the mound, McCluer has true upside on both sides of the ball and plenty of room to continue developing as he heads into his junior year.

Evan Null RHP / Lafayette, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 60 / POS: 17
Evan Null makes a jump from No. 79 to No. 60 in the 2028 rankings after a strong spring/summer on the mound. The Lafayette right-hander reached 89 mph at a PBT STL event and also put together an impressive high school season, posting a 1.27 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 27 innings. The combination of improved velocity and consistent performance has earned Null a bump in the latest rankings.

Dane Peterson RHP / Liberty North, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 84 / POS: 20
Dane Peterson makes a jump from No. 98 to No. 84 in the updated 2028 rankings. The 6-foot-1 right-hander showed well at the Missouri State Games, where he reached 85 mph on the mound while also showing a 99 mph exit velocity and 85 mph arm strength from the outfield. Peterson’s combination of physicality, athleticism, and two-way ability gives him plenty of room to continue developing.

Jacob Hornburg SS / De Smet Jesuit, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 103 / POS: 22
Hornburg makes a notable jump in the updated 2028 rankings, moving from No. 120 to No. 103. The De Smet infielder showed well at the Missouri State Games, posting a 7.17 60-yard dash, 81 mph infield velocity, and 98 mph exit velocity. Hornburg also hit .322 during the high school season. Jacob has continued to show well-rounded tools and a work ethic that give him upside moving forward into his junior season.

Colin Arnold joins the 2028 rankings after showing well at the Future Games. The 6-foot-2 left-handed hitting catcher showed present physicality with a 97.2 mph max exit velocity, while also posting a 1.88-1.96 pop time and 80 mph catcher velocity. Arnold’s combination of physicality and offensive upside makes him an important new addition to the loaded 2028 class of catchers.

Parker Ward continues to establish himself as a high-level in-game performer, earning a spot at No. 37 in the updated 2028 rankings. The Blue Springs South two-way standout was a key contributor during the Jaguars’ run to another state championship appearance, while showing a reliable arm on the mound and consistent offensive production. Ward’s combination of in-game ability and two-way potential makes him one of the more intriguing players in the class.

Jaxon Kent joins the updated 2028 rankings after showing significant upside on the mound this summer. The 6-foot-6 right-hander reached 85.6 mph at the Heart of America Summer ID, with a loose arm and physicality that provides plenty of projection as he continues to develop. Kent also showed some positional tools, posting a 7.13 60-yard dash, 83 mph outfield velocity, and 97 mph exit velocity. His upside on the mound makes him a player to watch closely.

Jackson Patton lands at No. 89 in the updated 2028 rankings. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound right-hander has shown intriguing upside on the mound. With a fastball that has been up to 87 mph and a physical frame, Jackson has the makings of a high-follow arm.

Liem Potter SS / RHP / Carrollton, MO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 104 / POS: 23
Liem Potter joins the updated 2028 rankings at No. 104 after showing well on the mound this summer. The Carrollton right-hander works with good tempo and has shown an ability to consistently fill the zone, pairing a mid 80's fastball with a slider up to 75 mph. Potter’s ability to attack hitters and throw strikes gives him plenty of upside as he continues to develop.
