Trey Howell-Chase put up a monster year in 2026. As a junior at Rio Americano High, he hit .477 with a 1.211 OPS, leading his team to a section title and earning himself conference MVP honors. To top things off, he earned a spot on our All-State First Team, establishing himself as one of California’s top uncommitted shortstops.

Howell-Chase continued his big year at the 2026 Senior Future Games in Georgia, where he stood out amongst the nation’s top uncommitted players.

In his return to Lakepoint after putting on a show at the Future Games in 2025, Howell-Chase went 3-for-5 with two 95+ EV doubles, a 90+ EV single, two walks, and a sac fly.

His SFG performance comes fresh off a historic junior year at Rio Americano High. Last spring, Howell-Chase hit .477 with 52 hits, 14 of which were extra-base hits. On top of that, he stole a school record 39 bases.

 Howell-Chase’s junior season culminated with him earning Capital Valley Conference MVP and leading his squad to the program’s first section title in 30 years. 

CURRENT NUMBERS

Howell-Chase’s current metrics back up the athletic talent he possesses and the continued success he’s had this past year at the plate and in the field.

At 6’4 190, Howell-Chase brings physicality and elite athleticism. While he has decided to focus on baseball going forward, he was a true 3-sport varsity athlete this past year; he averaged 12.2 points per game on the basketball court last winter and led his school’s soccer team with 11 goals.

He boasts a 6.47 60, with 1.59 10-yard and 3.63 30-yard splits, highlighting his acceleration and quickness that will play at SS and in the OF. This 6.47 number was the fourth fastest time recorded at the Senior Future Games. To pair with his speed, Howell-Chase also brings solid arm strength at SS, posting an 84 mph velo across the diamond.

Howell-Chase also attended the 2025 Future Games a year ago. Since then, he has put on around 15 lbs of muscle, and his metrics reflect it. In just a year, his max EV has climbed 5.6 mph from 91.2, his average EV jumped 6.8 mph from 82.4, and his 60 time has improved from the 6.63 he ran last summer. Howell-Chase primarily played the outfield at this event, recording an 87 mph OF velo and showcasing his defensive versatility.
