Director's List: Uncommitted Outfielders

By: Max Semler
North Texas Scouting Director

Prep Baseball Texas Scouting Director Max Semler shares impressions and notes on uncommitted outfielders seen at Prep Baseball events since the start of the year. This list is in no particular order. These players have shown tools and ability that give them a chance to develop into solid college outfielders and contribute at some level after their senior year of HS.

Note: Some of these players I have only seen in workouts and our game-play events. As with the catchers and infielders, I haven’t seen most of these players in actual games, so I don’t know yet if the tools seen in workouts consistently translate to in-game performance. In addition to their high schools, I have listed summer programs for coaches who want to follow up on a player. No Underclass Future Games participants are included on this list.

Weston Pickard | OF | Brock | 2027 | R/R | 6’1” 190
Build/frame projects for increased strength. Ran a 7.06 60 and profiles as a corner outfielder. Plenty of arm strength to play RF with carry to his throws, reaching 90 mph from the OF. Produces hard contact off the barrel when on time and on plane, with exit velo reaching 101+. Athletic enough to make adjustments and should continue to develop.
Summer Team: Fort Worth Cats

Breydan Madeley | CF/INF | Dripping Springs | 2027 | R/R | 6’1” 170
Great build/frame to add strength. Plus runner who has posted a 6.57 60 with quickness to the start and a chance to get his share of SBs. Gets into position to hit and shows some hand/bat speed. Hit-over-power profile with an opportunity to improve getting on plane for increased line-drive contact. Presently has just enough pull-side power to get himself in trouble at times. Upside to the hit tool. Speed and range are present to stay in CF.
Summer Team: Canes SW Scout 17U

Parker Hopson | CF | Martin | 2027 | R/R | 5’11” 170
Needs strength but has a frame/build to add it. Athletic with plus speed, running a 6.47 60 with present quickness. Plus defender in CF who can run balls down in the gaps. Hit approach can continue to develop. Definite hit-over-power profile, with added strength expected to improve the offensive impact. Has two now tools with the run tool and CF defense.
Summer Team: Stix 2027 South Premier

Finley Wilson | CF/LHP | Melissa | 2028 | L/L | 5’7” 155
Projects physically and will add size and strength. Athleticism is present. Has run a 6.65 60, and I expect that time to improve with added strength and physical maturity. Plus HS defender in CF who takes pride in his defense and works at it. Hit-over-power profile with a swing that works and a present hit approach. Offensive impact should firm as the strength increases. Also noted as a pitcher on the uncommitted pitching list. Will continue to develop.
Summer Team: TB Dallas, formerly Wow Factor

Preston Farragut | OF/INF | Jesuit Prep | 2027 | S/R | 5’11” 193
Athletic with present strength and room to add more. Ran a 6.71 60 with quickness and the ability to get SBs. Relatively short to the baseball from both sides of the plate with a middle-of-the-field approach. Flashes the ability to impact the baseball and has reached a 102.3 exit velo. Outfield defense is ahead of the infield defense right now, but the actions can firm on the dirt. Should provide defensive versatility. Academically oriented player.
Summer Team: Dulin’s Dodgers Prime 2027

Braeden Kaminski | OF/RHP | Grapevine Faith | 2027 | R/R | 5’11” 195
Solid build with some present strength and a frame that can add more. Ran a 6.70 60. Defensively has the ability to play all three OF spots with carry to the throws, reaching 90 mph from the OF. Shows bat speed with a scoop to the swing and has upside to the hit tool with adjustments. Will flash some pull-side raw power and has reached 102+ exit velo. Also touched 90 on the mound, adding to the overall tool set.
Summer Team: Dulin’s Dodgers Cowser

Brayden Naegele | OF | Salado | 2027 | R/R | 5’8” 170
Solid build/frame with some present strength and room to add more. Ran a 6.8 60 and can play all three OF spots. Arm strength is present with throws reaching 90 mph from the OF. Aggressive swinger who isn’t afraid to get his swing off. There are opportunities to firm the hit approach. Has reached 100+ exit velo and should continue to develop.
Summer Team: Capital City Texas Twelve Maroon 2027

Calvin Rippy | CF/LHP | Tyler Legacy | 2027 | L/L | 5’11” 160
Projects well for added strength. Plus runner who has posted a 6.64 60 and shows range into the gaps. Hit-over-power profile who handles the bat and creates line-drive contact. Impact should continue to develop with added strength. Plus defender in CF with the range to stay at the position. The run tool, defense and hit ability are present now. Also listed in the uncommitted pitching notes.

Hits baseballs hard, reaching 107+ exit velo, with opportunities to firm the hit approach. Shows present raw power in BP and is a steady defender. Interesting bat/power combination if the offensive tools translate consistently into games.
Summer Team: Dulin’s Dodgers

Waylon Griffith | OF | Buda Johnson | 2027 | R/R | 6’0” 202
