On Monday August 3rd through Tuesday August 4th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff traveled to the Rantoul Family Sports Complex in Rantoul, Illinois to host the annual Illinois State Games.

This event hosted nearly 400 prospects from all corners of the state, and naturally there were many standouts from the event.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis from the event, highlighting more of the traditional statistical categories, while also posting Data Dives for both Pitchers and Position Players. Today, we will provide our scouting takeaways for Teams 11-20.

Team 11 (Maroon)

Will Vanderheyden, RHP, O’Fallon, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 41 in the state. Proportional 6-foot, 160-pounds. Athletic mover down the mound with some polish to his arsenal. His fastball sat 86-88 mph (T89) with some carry at times. His curveball worked in the low-70’s big vertical break to it (avg. -5.6” IVB) and has true out-pitch potential, while he also tossed in a 76 mph changeup with slight downer action.

Russell Applegate, OF, Charleston, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 27 in the state. Athletic 6-foot-1, 169-pound frame. Applegate was a big winner from the event, excelling in multiple facets. He ran the 5th-fastest 60 for the event at 6.54 seconds and also had the firmest bullet from the outfield at 95 mph. Applegate also peaked at 99 mph off the bat during the workout with a max distance of 359 feet paired with an average bat speed of 72 mph. In-game the left-handed hitter continued to show well, tallying a homer in one at-bat - registering at 90 mph off the bat. His swing works flat with a free and easy finish with line drive intent.

Marco Fiore, C/INF, Nazareth Academy, 2028
Uncommitted. Wiry 5-foot-10, 152-pound frame. Fiore performed well specifically during the gameplay portion of the event. The right-handed hitter showed feel for the barrel and the ability to work gap to gap, tallying a loud double in his first game. He also showed upside behind the dish during the workout, posting a 2.00-2.12 pop time range and his top velocity out of the crouch reaching 76 mph.

Michael Thompson, C, Loyola Academy, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 173 in the state. Proportional 6-foot-3, 192-pound frame with present strength. Defensively, he stood out as one of the top backstops in attendance. He looked ultra-comfortable catching arms he was likely unfamiliar with and showed advanced receiving ability. During the workout, he showed above-average arm strength at 79 mph out of the chute, while posting a pop time range of 1.94-2.00. The right-handed hitter also showed some pop from the right side during the workout, averaging 91 mph off the bat (T96) with a max batted distance of 346 feet. Thompson also showed quality bat speed during BP, averaging 74 mph.

Maxwell Nowak, RHP, Mount Vernon, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 74 in the state. Physically imposing 6-foot-5, 216-pound frame. Nowak worked in the 81-84 mph range with his fastball playing with sinking action and the ability to miss barrels. His curveball earned swing and miss at 69-74 mph with tight action at times, and also flashed a 75-77 mph changeup with fade and tumble. An uncommitted upperclassmen to know in the southern part of the state.

Weston Ensign, RHP/INF, Fisher, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 44 in the state. Sturdy 6-foot-5, 242-pound frame with present strength. A recent member of Team Hawaii at the Future Games, Ensign continued to show upside on both sides of the baseball. On the mound collected three strikeouts across two innings of work while sporting a 70% strike rate. An athletic mover for his size, Ensign showed a three-pitch mix while working from a 3/4s arm action. The fastball sat 87-88 mph, playing with carry up in the zone. Paired it with a 74-78 mph slider with tight 10/4 shape and a max spin rate of 2402 rpm. At the plate, showed a physical right-handed swing with a standard, balanced setup and an uphill bat path, producing a max exit velocity of 101.5 mph. Physical two-way name that has a track record of performance.

Easton Pickrel, RHP/SS, Galesburg, 2029
Currently ranked No. 6 in the state and No. 162 nationally. Developing 6-foot, 163-pound frame with present athleticism and room to add. One of the top two-way prospects in the state’s rising sophomore class, Pickrel offered an upside look on the mound. The fastball topped out at 87 mph, playing mostly straight while being paired with a short 69-72 mph curveball and a 78-80 mph changeup with up to 16 inches of arm-side fade. Has the potential to be one of the better arms in the class should he add more polish, strength, and endurance. At the plate, showed a developing left-handed swing with a balanced base and medium stride that got him into a position of launch with a flat, loose swing. Produced a max exit velocity of 92.5 mph and a max bat speed of 73.8 mph. Defensively, showed athletic actions on the dirt with soft hands and an arm that was up to 85 mph from across the diamond.

Ben Bartlett, RHP/C, Normal University, 2029
Currently ranked No. 35 in IL, Bartlett provided a strong two-way look throughout the event, achieving a peak pop time of 1.92 during the workout portion of the event with a catcher velocity of 77 mph. A simple operator at the plate, Bartlett showcased a compact, quick bat with line-drive tendencies to all fields. On the mound during gameplay, Bartlett utilized a two pitch mix, with the fastball working at 83-86 mph (T19.2” IVB) and a breaking ball at 70-74 mph. Name to keep an eye on as he continues to progress.

Ty Bachman, INF, Normal West 
Currently ranked No. 48 in the state. 6-foot-4, 189-pound frame, long-levered with room to continue to fill out. Impressive week with the bat as he finished 3-for-5 with a triple, double, three RBIs and two runs scored. He also impressed on the mound with two scoreless innings and a fastball up to 86 mph.

Ryder Sisti, 3B, Plainfield Central, 2028
Currently ranked No. 144 in the state. 6-foot, 198-pound frame, some present strength throughout. Was the top producer at the plate for his team, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Strong, direct swing from the right side with a flat path. Steady defender on the infield with a clean glove and strong arm. 

Team 12 (Forest Green)

Kyle LaRose, OF, St. Charles East, 2027
Northern Illinois commit. Currently ranked No. 36 in the state. 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame, athletic and proportionate. Impressive defender with a quick first step and range, athletic hips, quality reads off the bat. Smooth, projectable left-handed swing with more impact on the way, though he didn’t see much production in the event as he walked a handful of times. He put on a show in BP however, peaking at 102 mph for his EV with an average of 95 mph. Present tools with a 6.95 in the 60, also gets up to 86 mph from the outfield.

Ryder Rennette, INF, Dunlap, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 13 in the state and No. 294 in the country. Compact, athletic 5-foot-9, 153-pound frame. Sparkplug type player that plays with his hair on fire. Finished the week 2-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored. Athletic and scrappy left-handed hitter with a direct swing, shows clear intent to keep the ball on a line and use the whole field. Really looks the part on the dirt with athletic actions and quick first step, makes his speed play up on the infield with his angles to balls. Athletic arm that can play on the move and from multiple angles.

Ryan Brown, OF, Downers Grove North, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 291 in the state. 6-foot-1, 168-pound frame, athletic and proportionate with rounded shoulders. L/L prospect with a clean, athletic swing, showed the ability to cover the plate and match plane, also showing quality feel and awareness of the zone - finishing the week 2-for-4 with an RBI and three walks. Impressed in the outfield with efficient reads and range, tracked balls well off the bat.

Graham Stauber, C, Fremd, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 162 in the state. 6-foot-2, 181-pounds, long-levered with room to add strength. One of the top performers for his team at the plate, finishing 2-for-6 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Its a longer right-handed swing, moving into a flat path with some feel to use the whole field, peaking at 100 mph for his EV in the workout, averaging 92 mph. Hard worker behind the plate with strong hands, above-average arm to pair (T80 mph, 1.95 pop-time). Also an impressive athlete with a 6.88 in the 60.

Henry Murphy, RHP, Maine South, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 22 in the state. High-waisted and loose-levered 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame. Fresh off a strong performance at the Future Games, Murphy continued to show why he is one of the top arms in the state. His pitchability continues to stand out, having feel to throw all three of his offerings for strikes. Murphy’s fastball sat 85-87 mph (T88) with occasional carry through the zone. His curveball was his best offspeed pitch during this outing, showing sharp actions (avg. -10.3” IVB) at 68-70 mph. He would complete his arsenal with a short slider at 73-74 mph that has the ability to miss barrels when needed.

Kellen Forsythe, RHP, Coal City, 2027
Missouri S&T commit. Currently ranked No. 128 in the state. Athletic 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame. Forsythe threw multiple pitches for strikes and showed some polish throughout his outing. He has a whippy arm action, throwing from a low ¾ slot. His fastball sat 85-86 mph (T87) with some sinking action to it while throwing it for strikes 62% of the time. His slider played tight at 76-78 mph with some gyro feel to the pitch, while he rounded out his mix with a 78-80 mph changeup with tumbling action and landed in the zone 100% of the time. Line: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 3 K.

Hunter Long, RHP, Limestone, 2027
Uncommitted; currently ranked No. 136 in Illinois. Long levered 6-foot-8, 190-pound frame with plenty of athleticism throughout. Controlled levers really well down the mound and syncs up. Clean and repeatable with some perceived effort in the delivery from a drop and drive descent down the mound into a compact ¾ arm action. Fastball plays in the zone at 82-85 mph T86 w/ arm-side run. Slider is depthy at 71-75 mph with shorter break and bite to it for S/Ms. Mixed in a cutter at 77-79 mph for strikes with depth at times and a changeup at 73-74 mph with fade primarily to LHHs. Threw it well against a strong ProCase lineup. Navigated some traffic in two shutout innings while punching out three and walking none. Jumps are inevitable as he adds mass to the frame. Intriguing follow.

Landon Hahn, RHP, North Boone, 2029
Really athletic 6-foot-2, 184-pound frame. Looked the part with a polished look on the mound with a drop-drive descent down the slope into a controlled foot-strike. Compact ¾ arm action that hides it well. Showed off a three pitch mix with the feel to land any in all counts. Fastball played at 82-86 mph with heavy ASR. Slider was 72-74 mph with bite at times and the changeup played with depth at 72-75 mph for S/Ms. Can really pitch and emerged as a follow after an impressive look in his outing.

Dayne Franks, LHP, Orion, 2028
Uncommitted and recent Future Gamer for Team Illinois; currently ranked No. 59 in the state. 6-foot, 188-pound frame. A loose and fluid mover down the mound with a full arm swing into a loose ¾ slot with some deception. Strike thrower that competes in and around the zone at 84-86 mph with the fastball with life out of the hand, curveball was 68-72 mph that tunnels well with a changeup at 74 mph. A lefty with a solid 3-pitch mix. Jumps are likely with room to add. M2C.

JJ Quinlan, INF/OF, St. Rita, 2028
5-foot-9, 150-pound frame, compact and athletic. Impressed at the plate with a hitterish look and polished approach, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Loose, flat left-handed swing with whip in the barrel, was on-time for velocity as he sent a 90 mph fastball right back up the middle for one of his knocks. 

Team 13 (Columbia Blue)

Jimmy Haas, C, St. Patrick, 2027
Northwestern commit. Currently ranked No. 119 in the state. 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame, present strength with broad shoulders but still plenty more room to add. Impressive left-handed hitter that showcased some big power upside throughout the event, starting in his BP where he hit six balls at 96+ mph, peaking at 102 mph. Balanced and simple swing from the left side, easy stride that stays balanced, strong hands with feel to cover the plate, mature feel to his at-bats with zone awareness - finished the week 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored and three walks. Showed well behind the plate as a steady receiver, pairing with a strong arm (T79 mph, 1.95 pop-time). Also a 7.15 runner in the 60.

Gaston Lopez Jr., INF, St. Patrick, 2028
Uncommitted. 6-foot-5, 176-pound frame, long-levered and highly projectable, high waist. Switch-hitting infielder that showed an ultra-intriguing profile. Clean swing from both sides with a direct path, showed rhythmic hands into a loaded position and worked into a flat path, showed some ability to match plane. Was a top performer for his team, finishing 4-for-6 with two RBIs and a walk. Sure-handed actions on the infield. Will only continue to get better.

Caleb Prendergast, OF/INF, Evanston, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 101 in the state. Athletic 6-foot, 171-pound frame, rounded shoulders with some proportionate strength. Impressive right-handed hitter with some tools across the board - starting with a 101 mph peak EV in the workout while recording five balls 97+ mph. Athletic and whippy swing with bat-speed and uphill intent, left the yard pull-side in-game at 100 mph (360’) - finished the week 3-for-7 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Carson Frerichs, RHP, Normal University, 2027
Uncommitted; currently ranked No. 225 in Illinois. Ultra intriguing 6-foot-5, 207-pound frame with plenty of upside. A polished look on the mound with a clean, long arm path into a ¾ slot. Fastball played at 84-87 mph with cut. Curveball was 76-78 mph with tight spin with gradual break and sharp at times. Changeup lived 80-81 mph and killed spinned (900 RPMs) with depth. Will only continue to trend up.

Colton Miller, RHP, Wheaton Academy, 2027
Uncommitted; currently ranked No. 221 in the state, strong 6-foot-1, 220-pound frame with a high effort operation with intent downhill. Repeatable operation that stacks into his backside well down the mound; half arm circle with a ¾ slot. Fastball played at 86-89 mph T90 with carry (16.5” IVB avg.) and pounded the zone with a curveball at 71-72 mph with depth. Dominant showing in two no-hit, shutout innings while facing the minimum striking out 5 and walking none. An arm that has cemented himself as one of the top uncommitted seniors in the state.

Team 14 (Neon Orange)

Kaleb Gosset, INF, Yorkville, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 32 in the state. 5-foot-11, 166-pound frame, some present and proportionate strength throughout with room to add. Right-handed hitter with a longer, clean swing, worked on the barrel in-game for a double the other way, finishing gameplay 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two walks, worked up to 95 mph for his EV in the workout. Sure-handed defender with athletic actions on the infield, roams around the field with confidence.

Owen Knox, OF/INF, Normal Community, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 274 in the state. Trim, athletic 6-foot, 150-pound frame. 6.68 runner that lets his speed play up in-game, always looking to take the extra base, recorded a 4.39 down the line in-game. Some twitch in the right-handed swing with quick hands, flat path with a compact finish through the zone. Wore out the barrel in his round of BP in the workout, averaging 90 mph while peaking at 94 mph for his EV.

Theo Schroedter, RHP, Whitney Young, 2029
Currently ranked No. 11 in the state and No. 193 in the country. Wiry, projectable 6-foot-2, 156-pound build with more to come. Schroedter came away a major winner from the event, consistently filled the zone with an electric four-pitch arsenal to toss two scoreless with five strikeouts. The right-hander possesses some of the top arm potential in the state with a lively fastball and a feel for spin across all of his pitches. His fastball sat 83-87 mph with life and heavy action out of the hand (17.3” avg IVB). He complimented it with a cutter at 75-79 mph (2,200+ avg rpm), a curveball at 70-73 mph (2,300+ avg rpm), and a fading changeup at 79-80 mph (14.7” avg IVB). Overall, Schroedter had one of the most impressive pitching performances of the event, and he will continue to be a high-follow name as he develops.

Luke Hernandez, C, Oswego, 2027
Uncommitted, Hernandez put together a solid performance at the plate and defensively in gameplay. To start the event in the showcase, Hernandez ran a 7.19 60-yard dash and flashed a pop time range of 2.00-2.22 with a 76 mph arm from the chute. In BP, peaked at 96 mph EV with an average of 85 mph and a max distance of 355’. In gameplay, looked to be a steady defender, soft blocker behind the plate with a clean catch and throw operation. At the plate, worked quality at-bats throughout, finishing with a double down the left-field line at 84 mph. Hernandez is a strong 5-foot-10, 198-pound backstop with physicality throughout the frame and a follow in the ‘27 class.

Cole Clower, RHP, Providence Catholic, 2028
Uncommitted; currently ranked No. 27 in Illinois. 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame. Moves well with a repeatable operation and some noticeable effort. Short compact arm action at a ¾ slot. Attacks downhill with a lively fastball at 86-89 mph with cut and mixes in a slider at 74-78 mph with bite and sweep (2,445 max rpm and -12” HM avg). Punched out four in his two innings of work. Clear upside with jumps likely as he adds strength to the frame.

Kiptyn Rosenthal, MIF, St. Joseph-Ogden, 2029
5-foot-7, 140-pounds. One of the top producers for his team at the plate as he finished 3-for-6 with two RBIs and a walk. Athletic right-handed swing with a balanced finish, some uphill intent. Speed plays up on the bases and on the infield with a quick first step, pairs with confident hands and fluid feet. Strong arm across that played with accuracy. 

Team 15 (Concrete Grey)

Bennett Kono, INF, Loyola Academy, 2028
Uncommitted. Lean 5-foot-10, 178-pound frame with room for added strength in the future. Kono was on the barrel throughout the event and came away a big winner for our staff. In-game, the right-handed hitter tallied multiple extra-base hits including a 93 mph hit in the final game. He finished the event 3-for-5 with a double and a triple. During the workout portion, Kono averaged 92 mph off the bat (T97) with a peak batted distance of 329 feet. Kono also ran a 7.04 60.

Cannon Richard, RHP/OF, Waterloo, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 163 in the state. Athletic 6-foot-2, 194-pound frame. Continues to show two-way potential for our staff. On the mound, he has a long/full arm action, releasing from a high ¾ slot. Richard’s fastball sat 83-85 mph (T87) with sinking action while getting swing and miss in-zone. His slider played sharp at times at 70-73 mph, while also mixing in a changeup at 75-80 mph with tumble. He would go on to punch out three batters over an inning and a third.

Xavier Martin, INF/OF, Oak Park-River Forest, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 222 in the state. Strong and physical 5-foot-11, 188-pound frame. The right-handed hitter was on the barrel during gameplay, tallying a double in his team’s final game registering at 100 mph off the bat. He posted quality numbers across the board during the workout as well; running a 6.89 60, reaching 87 mph from the outfield, and averaging 94 mph off the bat (T103) during BP.

Team 16 (White)

Owen Kelley, RHP, Crystal Lake Central, 2027
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 94 in the state’s 2027 class. Well-proportioned, projectable 6-foot-4, 194-pound build. Kelley showcased an electric three-pitch mix in-game that has made notable jumps since he was last seen by our staff. The right-hander worked primarily out of the stretch, showcasing a lively arm that should continue to trend upward as he develops. His fastball sat 86-89 mph (T89.5 mph) with life out of the hand at a 2,300 rpm average spin rate. He complimented it with a gyro-shape slider at 79-80 mph with tight break, and a kick changeup at 78-81 mph that had slight cutting action at times. Kelley went on to record three strikeouts over two innings of work, capping off a strong overall performance from the still-uncommitted right-hander.

Connor Fox, RHP/OF, Mt. Zion, 2027
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 82 in the state’s 2027 class. Athletic 6-foot, 167-pound frame with room to add on strength. Fox showed a feel for an electric three-pitch mix on the mound, inducing in-zone whiffs from hitters with all three pitches. The right-hander possessed a lively fastball at 86-89 mph with heavy arm-side run (19.7” max HM). He also employed a tight slider at 76-78 mph (2,399 rpm max spin rate), and a sinking changeup at 77-80 mph (14.6” avg HM). The right-handed hitter also showed some upside at the plate, finishing with a 95 mph max EV in the showcase portion with an 87 mph average EV. His feel for the barrel followed into gameplay, staying in-plane to drive a 91 mph EV double into the right-center field gap in Game 2. An impressive two-way showing from the still uncommitted senior.

Colton Francisco, OF, Minooka, 2028
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 86 in the state’s 2028 class, Francisco was the top performer in gameplay from the event, taking home the 2026 Illinois State Games MVP award after finishing the week 7-for-8 with three doubles, two RBIs, and four runs scored. Francisco got day one started with a 7.24 60-yard time. In his round of BP, peaked at 96 mph with an average of 92 mph. In the defensive round, showed athleticism throughout with an 87 mph arm. In gameplay, finished with two singles in game one with an RBI. In game two, finishes 3-for-3 with a 93 mph single, and a 94 mph double, drove in two and in game three, finished 2-for-2 with two doubles (94 mph EV) and two runs scored. This performance earned the LHH MVP and is one of the most intriguing follows coming out of the event.

Jake Weeks, SS, Dunlap, 2027
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 123 in the state’s 2027 class, Weeks measured in at an athletic 6-foot, 148-pounds with plenty of more to come. The shortstop finished with a single and a walk on game one, coming around to score both times. In game two, roped a double down the left field line and in game three, walked. Weeks showed easy bat to ball skills with the ability to use the whole field. Defensively, has confident hands and showed off range to both sides. A name to follow in the senior class.

Team 17 (Lime Green)

Jose Samaniego, LHP, St. Francis, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 146 in the state. High-waisted, long-levered 6-foot-3, 176-pound frame with additional room to fill out. Samaniego is a projectable southpaw that has consistently performed well in front of our staff this summer. The left-hander put together a strong showing during Tuesday’s gameplay, going at hitters with an interesting three-pitch arsenal. His fastball sat 83-87 mph (T87.6 mph) with some life and run out of the hand. He also utilized a tight 1/7 curveball at 72-77 mph, and a downer changeup at 74-77 mph (12.6” max IVB). A still-uncommitted southpaw to follow from the event.

Hudson Wesley, RHP, Civic Memorial, 2028
Uncommitted. Long-levered 6-foot-1, 183-pound frame with projection. He pounded the zone throughout his outing, showcasing two pitches. Wesley’s fastball sat 85-87 mph (T88) with slight run to the armside at times. His best offering in the outing was a top-to-bottom curveball (avg. 2417 rpm) at 72-75 mph that earned swing and miss and also induced weak contact. Line: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 2 K.

Griffin Dobberstein, RHP/INF, Marquette, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 83 in the state. Proportional 5-foot-11, 184-pound frame. He showed polish on the mound throughout his two innings of work while displaying swing and miss stuff. His fastball sat 86-88 mph (T89) that was effective at the top of the zone. Dobberstein then showed two breaking balls; a 76-78 mph curveball that had sweeping action to it and a 76-77 mph slider. He would complete his arsenal with an 83 mph changeup. Line: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 5 K.

Michael Wente, 3B, York, 2029
Uncommitted, Wente broke out at this year’s State Games. The third basemen measured 6-foot-4, 180-pounds with some of the top tools from the event. Wente ran a 6.79 60-yard dash and recorded EVs up to 99 mph. Defensively, tossed 80 across the infield. In gameplay, collected three hits including a double. The RHH ran a 4.57 home-to-first and showed easy actions defensively. Wente will be a name to keep an eye on heading into his sophomore year at York.

Drew Whitney, C, Barrington, 2028
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 40 in the state’s 2028 class, Whitney continues to impress with the bat in front of our staff. In the workout, the LHH recorded an EV of 100 mph with an average of 92 mph and a max distance of 339’. Flashed a 2.03-2.10 pop time and a 77 mph C velocity. In gameplay, Whitney looks comfortable at the plate with juice to all fields. Finished with two hits, one 95 mph off the bat. The bat to ball stands out for Whitney and looks to be one of the top bats in the 2028 class. A name to follow.

Anthony Boenzi, RHP, Lake Zurich, 2028
Uncommitted. Well-proportioned, compact 5-foot-10, 190-pound frame with some strength present throughout. Boenzi showcased an effective three-pitch mix throughout his outing, consistently attacking hitters while recording four strikeouts and not allowing a hit over two innings. His fastball sat 83-86 mph, touching 87 mph with sink out of the hand (17.3” avg IVB). He also employed a tight curveball at 73-75 mph (2,300+ avg rpm), and a heavy fading changeup at 75-80 mph (17.2” max IVB). Strong overall performance from the rising junior arm.

Carter Freeman, RHP, Armstrong, 2027

The right-hander possesses a lively three-pitch arsenal with feel for spin and movement with each selection. His fastball sat 83-86 mph with life and arm-side run out of the hand (18.8” avg IVB). He also utilized two high-spin breaking balls with a curveball at 72-75 mph (2,400+ avg rpm) and a slider at 73-76 mph (2,300+ avg rpm), and flashed a heavy fading changeup at 76 mph. Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 165 in the state’s 2027 class. Trim, high-waisted 6-foot-2, 174-pound frame with more fill to come. Rudolph settled in nicely to collect four strikeouts without allowing a run in his two innings of work. The southpaw attacked hitters with an effective three-pitch arsenal that kept hitters off-balance throughout the game. His fastball sat 82-85 mph with arm-side run that missed barrels. He also employed a 1/7 curveball at 72-73 mph that induced whiffs, and flashed a changeup at 77 mph. Overall, Rudolph remains an intriguing uncommitted left-handed arm to keep an eye on.

Garet Lobbins, CIF, McHenry, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 256 in the state. 6-foot, 171-pound frame, athletic and proportionate. Swung it well for our staff with a handful of barrels in-game, showing a strong uphill swing with bat-speed, doubling at 95 mph pull-side before collecting a loud out his following at-bat.

Evan Gomez, C, South Elgin, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently No. 67 in the state. Strong, compact 5-foot-11, 188-pound frame, strong lower-half with proportionate strength throughout. High-level defender behind the dish, strong hands with the ability to steal strikes around the zone, active and willing blocker, strong/accurate arm that plays with a quick release and life. Left-handed hitter with a big leg-kick trigger, tracks the ball well, intentful swings with uphill intent.

Max Judge, INF, Hinsdale Central, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 88 in the state. Strong, athletic 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame with broad shoulders and a developed lower-half. Was one of the top performers of the entire event and was up for MVP consideration after he went 4-for-6 with a double, triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. He’s a physical right-handed hitter with notable strength and bat-speed, swing works uphill with aggressive intent. He also took one of the loudest rounds of BP on the day, peaking at 100 mph with seven balls hit 95+ mph. Steady hands on the infield with a strong arm across (T86 mph). Also an above average runner with a 6.80 in the 60.

Dylan Fawcett, RHP, Stevenson, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 187 in the state. 6-foot, 180-pound frame. An elastic mover that rides the slope really well with some intent to the operation. A shorter, compact arm swing at a low ¾ slot with some arm speed. Fastball sat 86-89 mph while averaging 13.6” of IVB from a 3 and a ½ foot release height. Really spun the slider well at 70-72 mph with an avg of 2500 RPMs and around 20” of sweep to the profile. Caused some uncomfortable swings in his 2 innings against a loaded ProCase lineup while surrendering a hit and a walk while punching out three and giving up none. A clear follow in Illinois with that is poised for strides as he continues to fill out the frame.

Landon Connolly, RHP, Naperville Central, 2028
Uncommitted; currently ranked No. 37 in Illinois. 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame with a lean and athletic build. Clear intent to the delivery while staying stacked and sequencing his moving parts well. Hides it with a compact ¾ arm action. Lively look during his brief stint while showcasing a fastball at 87-89 mph T90.7 with a cut/ride shape averaging 16” of IVB. Showed feel for a slider that was 75-78 mph with two plane action and some bite. Flashed a curveball at 67-70 mph. Punched out three while scattering 2 hits and walking none in his two innings of work against a loaded ProCase team. Established himself as one of the top arms in the state and a clear follow in the state after his loud showing.

Devin Hopkins, RHP, York, 2028
Uncommitted, 6-foot-5, 180-pound frame. Showcased a 3-pitch arsenal and really mixed it well. Controlled levers well down the slope with a drop drive delivery with plenty of repetitiveness to it. A more compact, shorter arm swing and ¾ slot. Fastball played at 84-86 T87 with M2C while averaging 16” of IVB. Slider played tight at 73-74 mph with sweep and depth at times for S/Ms; showed feel for a changeup at 78-83 mph for strikes with fade. Hopkins was a constant performer in front of our staff this summer and really showed well in his two inning stint against a loaded ProCase lineup punching out 5 while walking none in 2 shutout innings of work. A clear follow in Illinois after a strong summer season.

JP Polcyn, RHP, Neuqua Valley, 2028
Uncommitted; Durable 5-foot-11, 200-pound frame with some strength to it. Repeatability to the operation with a controlled descent down the slope. Short arm swing and a ¾ slot with some noticeable effort to it. FB sat 83-86 mph T87 with life out of the hand that garnered some in-zone S/Ms. Slider was 74-76 mph with an average of 2670 RPMs that swept across the zone. Curveball had true two-plane break for whiffs at 71-74 mph and also flashed a changeup at 77-79 mph with up to 21.3” of horizontal movement. Dominant showing while punching out 5 in his two shutout innings of work. An intriguing follow in Illinois with M2C.

Cruz Cook, INF, Harlem, 2029
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 27 in the state. Athletic 5-foot-11, 152-pound with room to add in the future. His left-handed bat continues to stand out in-game for our staff. He has loose hands and an uphill path with a line drive approach to all fields. During the workout he peaked at 93 mph off the bat paired with a max distance of 342 feet while also posting an average hand speed of 21 mph. Cook also ran a 6.93 60.

Brody Phillips, INF, Arcola, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 198 in the state. Athletic 5-foot-10, 162-pound frame. Phillips led the event in the 60, running a blazing time of 6.31. His speed translated in-game when he notched a triple and reached third in 12.26 seconds from the right side. Phillips also posted quality Blast metrics with an average bat speed of 71 mph and an average hand speed of 21.2 mph.

Isaiah Martin, OF, Lane Tech, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 109 in the state. Twitchy, athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame. Martin continues to stand out on both sides of the ball, both with his right-handed bat and his ability to play the outfield. Offensively, he is a high-motor player who is also a tough out at the plate. His swing works slightly uphill with intent to hit line drives to all fields. During the workout, he began his day by running a 6.74 60, then peaked at 94 mph off the bat during BP with a max distance of 328 feet. In-game, he went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. His foot speed translates defensively, showing easy range and the ability to play all three outfield spots comfortably.

Myles Broome, C, Brother Rice, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 175 in the state. Proportional 5-foot-10, 179-pound frame with present strength. Broome continues ot stand out defensively behind the plate and has the tools to stick there at the next level. He receives well with loose wrists and the ability to steal pitches on the corners, he is a vocal leader on the field, and an agile blocker to pair. A right-handed hitter, he reached up to 93 mph off the bat during the workout, and also tallied a hard lineout in one game at 92 mph off the bat.

Eli Martin, RHP, East Peoria, 2029
Uncommitted. Long, loose-levered 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame. Is an upside name to know on the mound in the central part of the state. Martin’s fastball played deceptively through the zone at 81-83 mph (T84) with sinking action. He then tossed in a 75-78 mph curveball with depth, and completed his mix with a 75-78 mph changeup with tumble.

Connor Saip, RHP, Crystal Lake Central, 2028
Uncommitted. Athletic 6-foot, 192-pound frame. The right-hander settled in nicely after his first inning to toss a 1-2-3 inning in the second. He attacked hitters with an effective four-pitch arsenal that collected multiple whiffs for strikeouts. His fastball sat 81-85 mph (T85.9 mph) with arm-side run. He also presented a 12/6 at 68-72 mph that showed depth, a horizontal slider at 71-73 mph, and a fading changeup at 74-76 mph. The right-hander will be an arm to keep an eye on for the Tigers this spring.

Brett Alkire Jr., RHP, Dunlap, 2027
Cal State Bakersfield commit. Currently ranked No. 71 in the state. Wiry, high-waisted 6-foot, 152-pound frame. Put together one of the better pitching performances on Field 2 at the State Games. An athletic mover downhill paired with a quick arm, he showed loud stuff throughout his outing. His fastball played with life through the zone at 88-90 mph (T91) and was especially effective at the top of the zone. Both of his breaking balls played firm out of the hand with sharp actions; his curveball sat 76-80 mph (avg. 2442 rpm) with depth, while his slider sat 79-83 mph (avg. 2446 rpm). Alkire Jr. would also turn over a changeup at 82 mph.

Jackson Lee, C, Crystal Lake South, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 251 in the state. Proportional 6-foot, 177-pound frame with some present strength throughout. The right-handed hitter was on the barrel multiple times in-game even when he made outs. During the workout, he posted a peak EV of 94 mph with a max batted distance of 341 feet, while also running a 6.77 60.

Lucas Sloan, C, Olympia, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 111 in the state. Well-proportioned 6-foot-1, 188-pound frame. Fresh off representing Team Illinois at the Future Games, Sloan had a quality showing on both sides of the ball at the State Games. His right-handed bat was on the barrel for a 95 mph double in his first game off one of the top arms in the state. Sloan also continued to show above-average receiving skills and looked comfortable catching any arm. During the workout, he reached up to 79 mph out of the crouch with a 1.94-2.07 pop time range.

Dominic Talaga, INF/RHP, Stagg, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 58 in the state. Twitchy, athletic 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with some present strength. He had a loud showing on the mound, showcasing a quick arm from a high ¾ slot. His fastball sat 85-88 mph (T89), while tossing in a quality curveball at 72 mph with depth to it. Talaga rounded out his mix with a 75-78 mph changeup that showed hard bite (avg. -6.2” IVB). During the workout, he continued to show true two-way upside. He ran a 6.85 60, peaked at 89 mph from across the infield, and averaged 95 mph off the bat (T100.2).

Nick Stowasser, OF, Crystal Lake South, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 73 in the state. Physical 6-foot-4, 196-pound frame. The right-handed hitter showed well both in-game and during the workout. In-game he was on the barrel, using the whole field with a flatter path that generates easy jump off the barrel. During the workout, he averaged 91 mph off the bat (T95) with a max distance of 337 feet. Defensively, he showed comfortable actions in the outfield and has the tools to stick there at the next level.

Alex Abraham, C/INF, Geneva, 2027

The right-handed hitter was on the barrel with authority both in-game and during the workout. He swatted a home run during gameplay at 96 mph off the bat to the pull-side. During the workout, he posted a top EV of 96 mph paired with a max distance of 341 feet. Abraham also stood out defensively during the workout, registering a pop time range of 1.93-2.06 paired with a strong arm at 78 mph.

Landon Beckman, 1B/OF, Normal University, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 201 in the state. Physically imposing 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. The left-handed hitter showed a heavy barrel both in-game and during the showcase portion of the event. His swing works longer through the zone and shows easy pop off the bat with line drives to the pull-side. During BP, he averaged 95 mph off the bat and peaked at 104 mph (5th hardest for event) paired with a peak distance of 387 feet. In-game, he was on the barrel for a ground-rule double at 96 mph off the bat.

Alex Stella, RHP, Andrew, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 95 in the state. Lean 6-foot, 186-pound frame with present strength. Put together a strong showing on night one against the ProCase team. His fastball sat 85-87 mph (T88) with sink (avg. 7.2” IVB) and run (avg. 17.3” HM) to the armside while earning swing and miss. His slider showed sweeper shape at 72-75 mph to make for a quality secondary offering, while he rounded out his mix with a 75-77 mph changeup with hard tumble (avg. 0.4” IVB). Keegan Crabtree, RHP/SS, Lincoln-Way East, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 20 in the state. Athletic 6-foot-2, 160-pound frame with room for added strength. Fresh off representing Team Select at the Future Games, Crabtree would turn in impressive showings on both sides of the baseball. On the mound, collected four strikeouts across two innings of work while sporting a 79.2% strike rate en route to earning the event’s Most Valuable Pitcher honors. The fastball sat 90-92 mph with life out of the hand and spin rates up 2604 rpm. Showed feel for a pair of secondaries, with the slider sitting in the upper-70s with spin rates up to 2359 rpm and depth, and the splitter sitting 79-81 with spin rates as low as 680 rpm. Working solely from the stretch, Crabtree is an athletic mover on the mound with a quick arm that worked from a high 3/4s release. At the plate, followed up a strong performance at the Future Games by going 2-for-6 with two singles, showing a line-drive-oriented right-handed swing that plays up whole-field intent. During batting practice, showed much of the same, spraying the field with line drives while producing a max exit velocity of 93.8 mph. Defensively, showed loose, athletic actions with soft hands and instincts that played up during gameplay. Must follow as he enters his junior year as one of the more intriguing two-way prospects in the region.

A recent member of Team Select at the Future Games, Ritter continued to show an upside left-handed swing. During batting practice produced a 94.9 mph max exit velocity and 91 mph average. Produced some of the better bat speed of the event with a 77.5 mph max. Defensively, showed proper routes and an arm up to 86 mph.

Luke Potter, OF, Downers Grove South, 2028
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 115 in the state. Athletic 5-foot-11, 176-pound frame. One of the biggest winners throughout the event, Potter showed a plethora of tools both during the workout and throughout gameplay. At the plate, showed an aggressive left-handed swing with advanced bat-to-ball and bat speed that during the workout saw a max of 79.4 mph (75.3 mph avg.). Finished the event 5-for-7 with two doubles and a home run. During batting practice, showed much of the same, taking intentful swings that produced a 99.9 mph max exit velocity, four balls hit north of 97 mph, and an average of 95.1 mph. Defensively showed athletic actions in the outfield with clean footwork, instincts, and an arm that was up to 85 mph. Also showed well during the athletic testing portion of the workout, producing a 6.92-second yard dash and a 28.8-inch vertical. Must-know name in the rising junior class.

An athletic mover downhill, he worked up to 88 mph with his fastball, sitting 85-87 mph with the pitch with some sink. He would also toss in a curveball at 75-79 mph with sharp slurve action at times.

It’s a clean, compact swing with present bat-speed and a tight turn through the zone, consistently finding the barrel in front of our staff with impressive and mature at-bats. He finished the week 4-for-7 with a run scored, also showing well in BP with a peak EV of 97 mph with wood. Steady hands behind the plate that works to present pitches around the zone, above-average arm to pair with a quick release (T78 mph, 1.97 pop-time).

Jackson Roberts, INF, Barrington, 2027
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 62 in the state. Athletic and trim 6-foot, 160-pound frame, wiry with plenty more room to add strength. Highly athletic with a 6.60 in the 60, speed plays up everywhere with foot-speed and rangy actions on the infield. High-level defender with a confident glove, comfortable moving to either side with fluid footwork, showed impressive body control along with advanced range to his gloveside. Right-handed hitter, peaked at 93 mph in his round of BP in the workout, tight and athletic swing with a flat path and line-drive intent, loose wrists.

Julio Ayala, INF, Montini Catholic, 2027
Maryville commit. Currently ranked No. 56 in the state. 5-foot-11, 189-pound frame, some present strength throughout with wide shoulders, room to add more strength in the coming years. High-level defender with advanced actions and a smooth glove, clear feel for the position with an internal clock and a savvy look with everything he does. Athletic arm that can play on the move and from multiple angles, particularly sidearm or even below sidearms at times. Left-handed hitter, loose hands with a flat path, doubled in gameplay to his pull-side - also peaking at 96 mph during BP with wood.

Paxton Freeborn, OF, Naperville North, 2027
Bradley commit. Currently ranked 43 in the state. 6-foot-2, 187-pound frame, long-levered with a high waist, highly projectable. Really looks the part of a prospect that will only get better, with his best days still very much ahead. He’s a left-handed hitter that took one of the better rounds of BP on the day, showing a longer, loose swing with some uphill intent through impact, peaking at 99 mph for his EV while recording four balls at 96+ mph. Floats around the outfield with rangy actions and athletic stride, pairing with a quick first step, 6.55 runner in the 60. Also equipped with a strong arm to help round out his tools (T86 mph OF).

Currently ranked No. 28 in the state, No. 424 nationally. 6-foot-1, 199-pounds with present strength throughout and rounded shoulders, looks to have added about 10 pounds of muscle since our last look. The right-handed hitter has noticeable strength in his operation with a peak EV of 96.5 mph in his round of BP, also registering three balls 95+ mph with wood. It’s a simple forward move and stride with a slight load in the hands, staying mostly compact through his turn with a flat path - finishing 2-for-6 with a run scored in gameplay. The arm really stands out across the infield with explosive life, pairing with steady hands and feet with some range. Present tools across the board with a 6.83 in the 60 and 93 mph arm across the infield in the workout.

Right-handed hitter, was on the barrel for a loud pull-side homer in gameplay. It’s a simple swing with a turn turn through the zone, showing present bat-speed with uphill intent. Advanced catch/throw, high-level receiver with a quick release, peaking at 81 mph from the chute (1.91 pop-time).

Gavin Stanislawski, CIF/OF, Brother Rice, 2027
Wright State commit. Ranked No. 14 in the state and No. 342 nationally. 6-foot-2, 227-pound frame, physical with proportionate strength throughout. Impressive right-handed hitter, finished 2-for-6 in gameplay with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Power profile with a controlled intent in the swing, showing easy bat-speed with an uphill path, sending his homer out pull-side at 103 mph (371’) with wood. Continues to make strides at the plate with improved swing decisions.

Trevor McClure, RHP, Mount Vernon, 2027
John A. Logan JC commit. Currently ranked No. 35 in the state. Well-proportioned 6-foot, 200-pound frame. Punched out three batters over his two innings of work at the State Games. He has a fluid arm action, releasing from a high ¾ slot and is a clean mover downhill. His repertoire was headlined by an 86-87 mph (T88) fastball with occasional carry through the zone. His curveball played with big vertical break (avg. -10.3” IVB) at 75-76 mph, while his slider flashed high spin (T2589 rpm) with sharp horizontal break (avg. -13.2” HM). McClure would complete his arsenal with a 79-81 mph changeup with slight tumbling action.

Kobe Jordan, RHP, Providence Catholic, 2027
Michigan commit. Currently ranked No. 31 in the state. High-waisted 6-foot-4, 211-pound frame with projection. Works primarily out of the stretch with a fluid arm action, releasing from a high ¾ slot. He ran his fastball up to 90 mph, while sitting 85-89 mph with the pitch. Jordan had feel for his slider at 75-77 mph to earn swing and miss when needed, and rounded out his mix with a 79-80 mph changeup with armside fade.

Northern Illinois commit. Currently ranked No. 74 in the state. Proportional build at 6-foot-1, 233-pounds. Mackin showcased a quick arm from a high ¾ slot. His repertoire was highlighted by an 88-90 mph (T91) fastball that played with slight run at times. He would then go to a curveball at 77-79 mph with hard vertical action (avg. -4.7” IVB) and a 79-83 mph changeup with slight tumbling action. All five outs he recorded in his outing came via strikeout.

Mason Bruesch, OF/RHP, Geneva, 2027
Michigan State commit; currently ranked No. 72 in the state. 6-foot-1, 173-pound frame. Offered a tough look from a 3-3.5’ release height. Stayed stacked well down the mound despite the slot with plenty of athleticism throughout. Generates some arm speed from the low-slot with a fastball that plays at 84-87 mph with run/ride (2415 rpm avg) and can really spin a slider with a sweepy profile at 74-76 mph (2624 avg RPMs). Jumps are inevitable with a really athletic profile (6.63 runner). A top of the line athlete in the state.

Easton DeBernardi, RHP/OF, Marquette Academy, 2027
Recent Illinois State commit and currently ranked No. 50 in the state. 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Fresh off an appearance at the Senior Future Games. Really athletic look with polish on the mound. A strike thrower that repeats and competes; Fastball sat 87-90 mph with heavy life out of the hand at an average of 2510 RPMs. Slider was sweepy at 73-77 mph (-14” HM on avg) and he turned over a changeup at 79 mph with fade. Jumps are inevitable as he adds strength to the frame. A premium athlete in the state, fresh off the market. Really projectable stuff from the Marquette Academy product, N2K.

Braylen Brown, RHP, Staunton, 2027
Missouri State commit; currently ranked No. 32 in the state. 6-foot-1, 193-pound frame. Provided a really athletic look down the mound with a big spin arsenal from a compact arm action from a loose ¾ slot. Feel for the fastball played 84-88 mph with life for whiffs at the top of the zone. Slider was 73 mph at 2700+ RPMs and two plane action and spun a curveball at 72 mph with 2700 RPMs and sharp downer break. Room for jumps with an uber athletic movement profile.

Keegan Schwarting, RHP, Joliet West, 2027
Kentucky commit and recent Senior Future Games alum; currently ranked No. 19 in the state and No. 368 nationally. 6-foot-5, 190-pound frame that holds all sorts of upside. Plenty of athleticism in the delivery with a polished look and a loose half arm circle from a ¾ slot that generates arm speed. Fastball played at 86-87 mph with carry (17.5” IVB avg) and spun a slider at 74-76 mph with sharp, two plane action. Changeup was 79 mph with 16.7” of horizontal movement on average. Recent Virginia Tech Commit and Senior Future Gamer currently ranked No. 20 in the state. Uber projectable 6-foot-6, 196-pound frame that controls levers well. A repeatable look with present pitchability. Fastball 84-87 mph with sink and feel for the outer half, curveball was 74-76 mph that was flashed to RHH with ⅛ shape and a slider 76-77 mph with sweepy shape and bite (11” HM avg.). Changeup 75-78 mph that killed spin (1175 RPM avg.). Jumps are inevitable with added strength to the frame.

Michael Garner, RHP, Willowbrook, 2027
Uncommitted; currently ranked No. 68 in the state. Twitchy 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame. Really loud look in his outing. High leg-kick that moves down the mound with intent. Compact arm action with a full arm circle into a ¾ slot. Fastball worked 88-91 T91.6 mph with heavy life (14” avg. IVB) and got a handful of whiffs on the slider with sharp 10/4 action at 77-80 mph (2350+) and showed a curveball at 75-77 mph with 11/5 shape that was 12/6 at times. Clean movements down the slope with a compact but whippy ¾ slot. Fastball played 84-87 mph with run/ride, breaking ball had two plane action at 74-77 mph with bite. Changeup was 78-81 mph with fade. Induced weak contact and uncomfortable swings in his two innings of work. A fun watch every time he takes the mound and a close follow with jumps more than likely as he adds strength to the frame.
