As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing. The rankings are built through multiple viewings, conversations and evaluations to provide the most accurate assessment of each player’s current abilities. Movement within the rankings does not necessarily mean a player has regressed, as development happens at different rates and often includes peaks and valleys.
Our in-state and national scouting staffs remain in constant communication, comparing evaluations and adjusting the rankings based on the latest information available. As the fall progresses, new names will continue to emerge and players will have additional opportunities to strengthen their standing.
After taking an in-depth look at Colorado’s updated 2028 rankings, we now turn our attention to some of the biggest risers in the class. The following 10 players made significant jumps in the state’s latest rankings update.

CO RANK #1 Nolan Taylor
 |
RHP / 3B • Northfield, CO • 2028
State: Rank 1 / POS 1
Overall: Rank 105 / POS 25
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Taylor jumps to number one in the 2028 class after an outstanding summer on the showcase circuit. His showing at the Future Games served as his official coming-out party, where he touched 94 mph with his fastball and firmly established his presence on the national stage.
|
CO RANK #4 Ashton Santomo
 |
OF / RHP • ThunderRidge, CO • 2028
State: Rank 4 / POS 2
Overall: Rank 403 / POS 78
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Taylor wasn't the only one who threw a coming-out party at the Future Games—Santomo stole the show right out of the gate. He lit up the showcase with a blazing 6.46 60-time, a 101.5 mph exit velo, and an 87 mph arm from the grass. More importantly, those raw tools translated seamlessly to live action. After blasting two homers in three games and wreaking havoc on the basepaths, Santomo has cemented himself as the most electric athlete in his class, if not the whole state.
|
CO RANK #7 Kolten De Groot
 |
RHP / 1B • Arvada West, CO • 2028
State: Rank 7 / POS 4
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
De Groot jumped a massive 14 spots in the latest rankings. An absolute unit on the mound at 6-foot-7 and 225 pounds, he brought the heat at the Future Games, running the fastball all the way up to 91 mph. Get ready—he is set to deal for a stacked Arvada West rotation this spring.
|
CO RANK #9 Brycen Maron
 |
LHP / OF • Broomfield, CO • 2028
State: Rank 9 / POS 1
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Another major standout from the Future Games weekend, Maron ran his fastball up to 89 mph from the left side. The southpaw has been dominant all summer, racking up an absurd 84 strikeouts across just 42.1 innings of work on the showcase circuit.
|
CO RANK #14 Owen Lee
 |
C / RHP • Broomfield, CO • 2028
State: Rank 14 / POS 1
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Lee rises five spots in the latest update, arguably putting together the most impressive summer of any hitter in Colorado. Squaring off against premium competition on the summer circuit, he racked up 22 extra-base hits, including eight home runs. He has the athleticism to play all over the diamond and can even run it up to 87.4 mph on the bump, but make no mistake—that thunderous bat is his true calling card.
|
CO RANK #18 Derek Anderson
 |
RHP / OF • Ralston Valley, CO • 2028
State: Rank 18 / POS 6
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Anderson moves up 13 spots in our latest rankings. He is an intriguing prospect on the mound, standing 6-foot-3 with a fastball that has reached 89 mph. His loose and fluid delivery indicates that another velocity jump is likely on the way, setting Anderson up for a highly anticipated spring season.
|
CO RANK #19 Rocco Zavaras
 |
LHP • Columbine, CO • 2028
State: Rank 19 / POS 2
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Zarvas breaks into the latest rankings at No. 19. Showcasing advanced pitchability from the left side, highlighted by an 86 mph fastball he displayed at the Future Games. He rounds out a solid three-pitch mix by pairing his heater with a 73-75 mph curveball and a 75-78 mph changeup.
|
CO RANK #21 Brady Hirsh
 |
RHP / 1B • Mullen, CO • 2028
State: Rank 21 / POS 7
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Following a breakout spring campaign, Hirsh was shut down from throwing for most of the summer, but he possesses the pure stuff to be a frontline starter in this class. Our scouting staff verified his fastball at 90 mph during in-game high school action. Given his high ceiling and powerful arsenal, he is a high-priority follow heading into the 2027 season.
|
CO RANK #24 Brody Duran
 |
SS / OF • University, CO • 2028
State: Rank 24 / POS 7
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Duran just keeps mashing every single time we see him. Fresh off a 3A State Title run with University High School this spring, he absolutely took over the Prep Baseball State Games in early August to claim MVP honors. He launched two homers in two games and lives on the barrel, consistently generating loud contact. Throw in a 6.8 60-yard dash and the athleticism to play all over the diamond, and Duran is proving to be a true difference-maker.
|
CO RANK #29 Cash Carpio
 |
SS / RHP • Rampart, CO • 2028
State: Rank 29 / POS 8
VIEW PLAYER PROFILE
Carpio was another clear standout at the Prep Baseball State Games, displaying a highly versatile toolset. He recorded a 101.5 mph exit velocity and a 7.03 60-yard dash, while also showing well on the mound with an 86 mph fastball. Following a highly productive 2026 spring season, Carpio is certainly a name to monitor closely moving forward.
