Oklahoma Class of 2028: Rankings Risers

With the latest update to the 2028 rankings, several prospects around the state have seen major jumps thanks to impressive performances over the spring and summer seasons. We’ll break down some of the players who fit that bill, taking a closer look at the numbers that have helped them make their rise.

Easton Dobson OF / 1B / Carl Albert, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 6
After a strong spring season, Dobson parlayed that success into an impressive performance on the summer circuit, ultimately earning an invite to compete for Team Oklahoma in Atlanta at the Future Games. The left-hander made waves early in the summer when he put on a show in BP at one of our events, running his exit velocity numbers into the triple digits. He’s consistently shown off high-end arm talent from the outfield as well, tossing it in at up to 92 mph. The arm talent transferred to the mound as well as it ever has at the Future Games, where he ran the heater up to 87.4 mph, while also featuring a pair of distinct breaking pitches as he continues to refine himself on the mound as a talented two-way prospect. |

Casey Allee Jr OF / RHP / Stillwater, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 29 / POS: 9
A big winner from the spring season as he emerged at the top of the rotation for a talented Stillwater team, Allee carried that success into the summer, punctuating things with an impressive showing at the Future Games where he tossed a pair of scoreless frames for Team Oklahoma. Though the rising junior has made his name on the mound, utilizing a mid 80s fastball and a heavy curveball as his main offerings, Allee looks to be primed to see some run at the plate for the Pioneers next spring, putting up impressive numbers as a position player this summer with a 6.79 60-yard dash and EVs as high as 98.3 mph. |

Jace Baker 3B / C / Choctaw, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 49 / POS: 5
Baker made a 13-spot leap in the latest rankings update, thanks in large part to an impressive summer including a loud day at the OKC Sandlot Scout Day. The rising junior put on a show in BP, running his exit velocities up to 98 mph, with an average EV north of 90 mph. Baker looked good defensively as well, with some versatility to bounce between corner infield and behind the dish. We also saw him take a leap in arm strength, getting it across the infield at 85 mph when we saw him this summer. The arm talent translates well to mound, where he looks primed to be an important piece of the Choctaw pitching staff this spring. |

Jaxon McKinney C / OF / Washington, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 69 / POS: 12
McKinney continues to impress as one of the most well-rounded catching prospects in the class, making a strong impression on our scouts this summer with a nice performance at the Upperclass Top Prospect Games. The strong backstop looked clean defensively, clocking pop times between 1.93-1.95 seconds. At the plate, McKinney was in the low 90s with his exit velocities, with the present strength to see that number continue to climb. Now at Washington, he’ll look to boost an already potent Warriors lineup this spring as they look to make it six state titles in a row. |

Ian Lane SS / RHP / Verdigris, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 72 / POS: 17
Lane makes his debut in the latest rankings update after a strong spring for Verdigris and an ultra-impressive showing at the Tulsa Summer ID. The two-way prospect displayed great athleticism, running the second best 60 time of the event at 6.79 while also leading the event in the vertical jump at 25.5 inches. At the plate, Lane produced exit velocities into the low 90s with a max distance of 306 feet, showing off a nice feel for the barrel with a 62% sweet spot percentage. The right-hander looked good on the mound as well, running the heater up to 83 mph with an eye-catching 20.8 avg IVB and 2,200 rpm spin rate. Standing at 6’1 159 lbs, Lane should be an exciting follow with a sky-high ceiling as he continues to add strength going into the spring. |

Hunter Hargis OF / RHP / Weatherford, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 91 / POS: 23
One of the biggest winners of the summer thanks to a big performance at the OKC Summer ID was Hunter Hargis, rocketing up the rankings to the tune of a 48 spot jump in the latest update. The Weatherford product has plenty to love on the mound, working a four-pitch mix of a mid 80s fastball that he’s spinning at 2,250+ rpm with 22.2 max IVB and 16.2 max HM. He features a pair of distinct breaking pitches, a 70-71 mph curveball with really nice depth and a 72-74 mph slider with more east-west movement that he spins 2,350+ rpm. He also utilizes a low 70s changeup with really nice depth, killing spin exceptionally well at an average rpm of 870. |

Bryson Ackart 1B / OF / Broken Arrow, OK / 2028Rankings StateRank: 110 / POS: 7
A high-upside prospect that should continue to see the already solid numbers continue to climb as he adds more strength to his 6’3 frame, Ackart makes a massive jump in the rankings after an impressive summer and a nice showing at the Tulsa Summer ID. At the plate, he saw his exit velocity numbers climb into the low-to-mid 90s, with a solid average EV at 85.9 mph. Defensively, Acakart looked smooth and clean both in the outfield and at first base, with some nice present arm strength tossing it in at 83 mph. He also made a big jump in the 60-yd dash, where the Broken Arrow product slashed his time to a solid 7.19. |
