Uncommitted Spotlight: '27 Owen Kendrick

Owen Kendrick
Owen Kendrick made a significant jump in Arizona's recent 2027 rankings update, moving to No. 35 overall and No. 4 among left-handed pitchers. The Scottsdale Christian Academy two-way standout is coming off a big junior season that ended with a 2A State Championship before continuing onto the summer, including a mound appearance at Area Codes.
The son of longtime Major Leaguer, MLB World Series Champion, NLCS MVP, and MLB All-Star Howie Kendrick, Owen has put together a strong body of work of his own on both sides of the ball. He enters his senior year as one of the higher-rising uncommitted players in Arizona's 2027 class.
Kendrick works primarily in the mid-80s with the fastball and has reached the upper-80s. His junior numbers at the 2A level were off the charts, finishing 9-1 with a 0.25 ERA across 56.2 innings.
The left-hander struck out 109 while walking only 15, allowing 24 hits and two earned runs for the season. The strikeout-to-walk numbers speak for themselves, with Kendrick consistently working in the zone while still missing bats at a high rate.
Kendrick was also Scottsdale Christian's most consistent bat during its championship season, hitting .529 with a .886 slugging percentage and 1.569 OPS. He collected 37 hits, drove in 33 runs and finished with 16 extra-base hits, including 10 doubles.
It is a simple, loose left-handed stroke that works to all fields. Kendrick stayed on the barrel throughout the spring and gave Scottsdale Christian steady production in the middle of the order.
