2026 Post-Spring Rankings Update: Class of 2028
June 4, 2026
For the first time since the first edition of our 2028 rankings released - we have a new No. 1 player in the class. LHP Ty Pohl (Evansville North) takes over the top spot after a dominant sophomore campaign. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound southpaw went undefeated for the Huskies this spring, pitching to a 0.70 ERA, while running his fastball up to 91 mph in our staff's looks. Along with spring success, projection, and a firm fastball - the potential-plus change & breaking ball taking serious strides this spring cements Pohl as the top-spot holder with his floor set at as high of a bar as any sophomore in the state.
‘28 LHP Ty Pohl (@TyPohl55) exits after 4 scoreless: 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K.

A premium was put on left-handed arms in this update (8 LHP as T100 risers in this update, 14 total LHP in the T100) and LHP Luke Hensley (Tri-West) emerged as THE biggest winner in the class from the spring, now our No. 2 ranked prospect in the 2028 class. The ceiling here may be the highest of the bunch as he stands at 6-foot-5 with his heater reaching 88 this spring. The strikeout numbers, though at the 3A level, were absurd (73 in 38.1 IP) as the fastball velocity began to tick, and makings of what could end up as a plus breaking ball were shown.
‘28 Luke Hensley (@luke_hensley28) was excellent in a pre-playoff tuneup; 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 8 K, 67% K.

While lackluster springs brought a short demotion to top-ranked position player, SS/3B Dylan Murphy, and top-ranked righty, Cole Breeden, they certainly remain as Tier-1 talents as all four names mentioned to this point are slated for spots in a prestigious Top 100 ranking nationally. Murphy's speed/power combination within a future-physical 6-foot-3 frame brings alluring upside, while the starter profile and premium projection that Breeden brings to the table is still highly valued.
A group of position players stand at No. 5 thru No. 7 in CF Mason Biernacki (#5, Penn), CF Canyon Koonce (#6, Brownsburg), and SS Jack Whaley (#7, Columbus North) - all top 10 players since the debut of this list. Biernacki edges out Koonce in this update, though Koonce is still held in high regard with as silky of a left-handed swing as any in the class and these two stand as our top two outfielders in the class. Whaley hit 15 doubles and 5 homers this spring and maintains status as one of the top power bats in the class, and he also moves to the #2 shortstop in the class in this update.
More from ‘28 SS Jack Whaley (@whaley_jack5) who finished 2-for-3 w/ 2 2B’s & 4 RBI.

Leading all of 4A in doubles (10) & was 5/5 on defensive chances during a busier night at short.
Cementing himself as one of THE top hitters in the sophomore class…

To round out the top ten, we have three multi-position players who all hold immense value in different ways. SS/P Billy Miller (Kouts) is another top ten mainstay who remains regarded there in this update, boasting a fastball reaching into the 90s to go with bat-to-ball and he is as skilled of an infield defender as any shortstop in the class. One of the most tooled-out players in the class, OF/RHP Braylon Storey (Center Grove) holds two-way value and enters the top ten for the first time at No. 9. C/IF/RHP Spencer Schiff is the third Mater Dei native in the top ten, and is coming off an impressive season statistically. Schiff is not only as steady of an in-game hitter as any in this class, but also holds value as a potential two-way recruit. Just outside the top ten in this update is CF Andrew Noble (Westfield), a 6.4 runner who led the Rocks with a .410 batting average this spring.
