#3 St. Anne's-Belfield 6, Cape Henry Collegiate 5
VISAA Division I Quarterfinals

Not many things are better in Virginia High School baseball than the VISAA playoffs and this quarterfinals matchup lived up to the hype. In the first inning, senior Christopher Martinez (Washington & Lee) launched a two out home run to left field to give Cape Henry a one run lead. The lead did not last long, as St. Annes-Belfield dropped a six spot in the second inning featuring a 2 RBI home run from junior Beau Bloxsom and a 2RBI double from UVA commit Will Yow. That was all St. Anne's-Belfied would need, junior Haden Morris was lights out in relief, going 3.2 innings allowing no runs to help give STAB the 6–5 win.

Oakton 2, #10 James Madison 1

This one was a pitching duel, with only five combined hits over the course of seven innings of play. Two of the hits came in the first when Gordon Cozad and Dawson Givens both doubled to give Oakton a 2-0 lead. After that first inning, Madison starter Joshua Elmore faced 19 hitters over the next five innings and only gave up two singles during that span. While the sophomore only had three strikeouts on the night, he only allowed one walk and threw right at twelve pitches an inning. On the Oakton side, the Cougars used three arms and allowed only three hits on the night. Cozad and Andrew Sleight combined for seven strikeouts over the first six innings, walked two, and Sleight gave up the only Madison run of the night. Alex Ament came in to close it out in quick fashion.

George C. Marshall 11, McLean 1

Marshall got in front early in this game and didn’t take the foot off the gas. They scored eight runs in the first three innings with timely hitting and taking advantage of free bases. Luke Torres had a strong showing in the heart of the order with two hits on the night. William Jacobi, Lucas Na, and Simon Rodham joined Torres with multi-hit games as well. Jonah Maco and Aidan McCarthy had quality outings on the mound limiting the McLean offense to one run and one hit on the night.

South County 5, Robinson 4

The opening game of the final Patriot District series of the regular season for two teams trying to build momentum ahead of the District Tournament featured a comeback one-run win for the Stallions. Robinson opened up a 4-0 lead in the second inning courtesy of a Ryker Hansen RBI single and then taking advantage of some miscues in the infield from South County. South County answered immediately in the top of the third when Luca Iaci launched a three-run homer to left. Both starting pitchers, Wyatt Osborne (Marymount) for South County, and Will Houff for Robinson, would then settle in and cruise through the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh, South County rallied for two runs, with Iaci delivering the go-ahead RBI. The Stallions would hang on in the seventh to win. Trevion Campbell had 3 hits and Dylan Jiang had 2 hits for South County. Keagan Fitzgerald had two hits for Robinson.

Kettle Run picked up a Northwestern District win on Wednesday night with a dominant victory over Warren County. Sophomore Bryson Skinner tossed 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits and striking out six. Kettle Run scored 5 in the third to blow the game open and cruised from there. Brendan Taylor (Shenandoah) and Caleb Willis (Widener) had multi-hit games and Teddy Trynock and Noah Correll also had multiple RBIs. Willis fired a perfect seventh to lock down the win. For Warren County, Francis Shaffer was solid in relief and was 1-2 with a walk.

#13 Mills Godwin 11, Maury 6

The visiting Commodores jumped out to an early five run lead in the top of the first, capped off by a Landen Hall homerun. Godwin would answer back in the bottom half on back to back homeruns from Alex Boyd (Roanoke) and Jacob Babcock (JMU). Lee Garris (JMU) would lead off the top of the second with a solo shot of his own to extend it to a four run lead. In the bottom of the second the Eagles would tie it up with a Jacob Babcock grandslam, and Godwin would never look back. They went on to score nine unanswered, with big hits from Christian Mulroe and Matthew Hartsfield (VMI) to make it 10-6 in the fifth. Babcock drove in six on the day and Lincoln Stammer was absolutely nails in relief. Stammer threw five shutout innings, allowing five hits, zero walks, and striking out five.
