Early this week, Prep Baseball saw a pair of intriguing contests. On Monday, we saw a great GSHL matchup as Union defeated Battle Ground. On Tuesday, Ingraham rode their offense early with insurance added late to cruise to a win over Eastside Catholic. Below are scouting notes on standout players from both games.

Union vs. Battle Ground (4.27.26)

Union

'27 RHP Rylan Howe (Oregon Commit)
The top-ranked player in Washington's junior class was the story of the game on Monday, throwing a CG while allowing just 1 run in the Titan victory. The Future Games alum looks to have grown even more than his listed 6'4, 210 pound frame, generating easy extension with a long-levered frame. The fastball sat 89-92 in the early innings, paired with a low 80's split and high 70's slider. Arguably the biggest seperator for Howe has been his control/command, which was on full display in this game, mixing in all three offerings in all counts for strikes. Howe went heavy on the SPL/SL to the top of the order to quiet a talented BG order. The velocity faded to more 85-87 MPH late, but the Oregon commit was still able to spot well and generate weak contact and quick outs. Final line: 7 IP, 8 H, R, 2 BB, 5 K.

'26 INF Parker Christian (Anderson University Commit)
Christian had a great look earlier this spring and turned in another productive game with the bat on Monday. The stocky-strong, taller framed senior carried plus bat speed with barrel accuracy through the zone. Christian finished 2-3 with an RBI single and an RBI double, also scoring a run and drawing a walk. A 1B-only type defensively, Christian made the routine play and moved well in either direction. The offensive impact and profile settles in well to the middle of the batting order, and will be an intriguing follow heading to the next level.

'26 INF/RHP Jacob Chandler (Portland Commit)
A huge two-way piece for Union this season, Chandler had the highlight swing of the game with a towering 2-run HR to left field late in the game. The righty sets in a slightly open stance with higher hands pre-pitch, working through a quick swing path and pulling the hands through for his big swing. Chandler scored twice and drove in 2 runs, adding a walk earlier in the game as well. The righty has been into the low 90's on the mound as well and is an extremely talented upperclassman.

'26 C Blake Sutton (Bellevue Commit)
A valuable, experienced presence behind the dish and in the middle of the order, Sutton showed well on Monday in all facets. The sweet-swinging lefty works off of a firm front side at contact, generating some loft with a middle of the field approach. Sutton lined a single to center to drive in a valuable run in the middle innings, finishing 1-4 overall but working QAB's consistently. Sutton also stole multiple strikes on the edges with strong-wristed frames, working low in his stance and controlling a high-velocity arm.

Battle Ground

'26 RHP Ethan Adams (Uncommitted)
An intriguing senior arm that is part of a sneaky deep Battle Ground rotation, Adams flashed at times on the mound in this look. Adams was 82-85 on his fastball with some heavier sinking action at times, thrown to the glove side well early on. He also mixed in an 11/5 CB at 73-77 MPH that generated some whiffs. The multi-sport athlete moved well down the mound, working with some deception hiding the ball late and a quick arm out front. The senior worked into his lower half well with a lower 3/4 slot release. He grinded through 5 innings in this look, allowing 2 ER and striking out 2.

'27 INF Trenton Righter (Uncommitted)
In what was a quiet afternoon for the Tiger offense as a whole, Righter was a bright spot near the top of the order, singling twice in this one. The righty sets deeper in his lower half with a wider base, going minimal stride with a controlled swing operation. The flatter barrel path stays through the zone well with an all-fields approach. Another multi-sport athlete with quick movement patterns, Righter held down 3B defensively in this game and made every play that came his way.

'27 INF Cooper McGowan (Oregon State Commit)
The Future Gamer and top-ten ranked junior in the state displayed his usual smooth and well-rounded style of play on Monday. McGowan finished 1-3 but had a pair of hard-hit balls against a quality arm, doing well to adjust to the variety of pitches thrown at him. The Oregon State commit has a plus glove at SS with enough arm to stick at the position at the next level, and though he wasn't able to throw out a speedy runner he made an incredible diving stop deep in the hole to exemplify the defense. McGowan is a critical piece to BG as they make a state push the remainder of this spring.

Ingraham vs. Eastside Catholic (4.28.26)

Ingraham

'27 INF Brandon Kwon (Uncommitted)
In what was a big offensive game for the top of the Ram's order, Kwon led the way, finishing 2-4 with 2 runs scored overall. The junior jumped on a fastball early in his first AB and worked a deeper count before driving his second hit, showcasing a versatile offensive approach. The twitchy righty starts in an upright, open stance, working through a direct path to contact and letting the ball get deep while still finding the barrel. Kwon also showed strong defensive actions pregame and profiles well as a middle infielder moving forward. Uncommitted name to circle.

'26 OF Bryce Campbell (Edmonds CC Commit)
Campbell was all over the barrel on Tuesday, lacing a pair of doubles to go alongside another single for a three hit night. The senior is a more lean framed, long-levered type with some quicker movement patterns for his size. The swing plays well to the middle of the field, working on the front side with bend in his levers through the zone and a slight uphill path. Campbell scored a run and added an RBI in a great offensive performance. He also showcased quality range in center, covering ground with longer, fluid strides.

'27 LHP Henry Chronik (Uncommitted)
Perhaps no arm has more fit the bill of the "crafty lefty" more than the junior, who turned in a stellar start on the mound. Chronik changed speeds and eye levels all night, working deep into the game and earning the win. The lefty mixed in a mid-70's fastball and a loopier curveball as his main two offerings. He worked from the 3B side of the rubber exclusively from the stretch, going through a simple, repeatable delivery and filling the strike zone. Final line: 6 IP, 4 H, R, 2 BB, 9 K.

'26 OF Landon Miller (Uncommitted)
The uncommitted senior had a great in-game showing earlier this season and backed it up with another productive game in the middle of the order. Miller got the scoring going with a 2-run single back up the middle in the first, and he was only just getting started from there. The righty finished 2-4 with a run scored and 3 RBI on the night. Miller sets with a bend in his knees with weight evenly distributed, with loose hands pre-pitch working through a flatter path through the zone. He profiles well as an offense-first corner OF, where he made every play that came his way defensively on Tuesday.

Eastside Catholic

'27 INF Josh Connelly-Smith (Uncommitted)
On what was a quiet night for the Crusader offense, Connelly-Smith produced the big swing of their evening, driving the first pitch he saw deep to RF for a solo home run. The taller lefty sets deeper in his lower half with a heavier hinge and low, flat barrel. The heavier barrel carries speed with a pull-oriented approach. Connelly-Smith was pepperred with breaking pitches in his other AB, but did a nice job jumping on the fastball early for his big knock. The junior DH'ed in this game but has shown sound defensive actions at 1B in previous showcase looks as well.

'26 INF/C Kai Jambor (Winchendon Commit)
One of several powerful LH bats in the Eastside Catholic lineup, Jambor drove a pair of hard-hit balls to provide in the middle of the order. The stocky-strong senior stays connected in a strong lower half, working off of a firm front side at contact. Jambor catches the ball out front with natural bat speed and loft generated, working to the pull side and up the middle. The senior made a couple of nice plays at 1B, though he had one or two tough breaks on difficult dig opportunities as well. He's also shown a strong arm at catcher and on the mound, with throws up into the mid-80's in previous showcase looks.

'26 C Ryan Long (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Commit)
A longtime varsity producer in all facets of his game, Long is leading EC in hitting this spring and worked some QAB's on Tuesday. The compact-framed backstop showcased some strength with the ability to lift to the big part of the field, with gap power that leads to constent XBH's in recent years. The Future Games alum finished just 1-4 with a hard-hit single but had multiple other well-struck balls that found the defender's gloves. The arm stood out in a huge way behind the dish, with an extremely quick transfer and throws that carried to the bag. Though he did throw out one runner stealing second, he had another throw that was on the money that would have gotten another runner out in most instances. The leadership and well-rounded skillset will bode well for EC for the remainder of their season.
