Waukee, Iowa - On Sunday, May 3rd, Prep Baseball Iowa travels to the SportsPlex West in Waukee to host the IA Preseason ID-Central Iowa. The events will feature over 30 prospects from the class of 2026 through 2029. This collection of players will include plenty of fresh faces as well as returning faces. 

Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise.

EVENT HISTORY

A year ago, the Preseason ID – Central Iowa featured over 40 prospects, and several of them quickly set themselves apart:

+ Cal Jepsen (2026, SS, Sioux City East) ran a 6.83, threw 90 across the diamond, and posted an event-best 97.8 MPH exit velocity. He would earn his spot on the Team Iowa roster for the Super Senior Games in August. Jepson would later commit to Western Kentucky.

+ Hayden Anderson (2027, LHP, Waukee), a 6-foot-5, 220 pound lefty, would run his fastball up to 88 at our Preseason ID event, leading to a big jump from 21st to 10th in our spring rankings. Anderson would participate in the summer's State Games event and commit to the University of Texas in September. 

+ Brady Smith (2027, RHP, Dallas Center-Grimes) would secure his spot on Team Midwest at the Future Games with a solid bullpen, showing a fastball that reached 88 MPH and a big curveball that had over 10 inches of vertical drop. Smith would make his commitment to the University of St. Thomas in November.
