Dawsonville, GA - The Smartense Scout Day took place on Saturday March 9th as staff traveled to Dawson County High School to conduct the event. These types of events serve as an identifier of talent across multiple grad classes as the spring season is coming to an end and we can follow these names into the summer circuit.

Today, we take a closer look at the standout data and measurable metrics from the event. ⤵️

Tyler McKinley, 2B/RHP, 2027, Cambridge
At 6-foot-even, McKinley has a solid frame working in his favor with room to mature muscularly. He had a great showing Saturday from the start as he recorded a 6.97 60-yard dash, showing quick mobility. At the plate, he had a quick stroke through the zone as multiple balls left they yard. He understands the barrel and can put the fat of the bat on the ball well as he sports a twitchy cut. He recorded a Max EV of 95.4 while showing off some PS pop. From both the IF and OF he had a velo of 84 with accuracy. McKinley is a well rounded player with upside at the dish.

Evan Money, OF, 2028, Headland (AL)
Money showed one of the most potent swings of the day that shot through contact and produced loud barrels. With a Max EV of 98.8, multiple shots left to dead center and the gaps were filled often. He has a very athletic, strong build and base at 5-foot-10, 168 pounds, and can move well with a 7.01 60-yard dash. From the OF he had the best arm as he pulled down every time over 86 and topping 89, all throws being on target. Money looks to be a guy that can produce with pop in the heart of a lineup and be a defensive cornerstone.

Joseph “Jax” Nystrom, MIF, 2028, Denmark
It was an all around day full of impressive tools on display for Nystrom after coming off a solid HS season. He easily had the loudest round of BP all day as he sprayed balls down each line with comfort. The pop is natural as he stays connected with each part and shows high torque as he attacks offerings. In the field, he only showed more strength as each ball was fielded smoothly regardless of direction, and he topped out at 91 on the gun working to 1B from SS. Nystrom has been on our radar and continues to prove why he is a N2K this summer season.

Griffin Treadwell, 1B/RHP, 2028, Hebron Christian Academy
Treadwell had a loud performance at the plate on Saturday morning during BP. At 6-foot-7, 211 pounds, the barrel is heavy throughout the zone. He launched multiple balls well over the wall with easy juice to the pull side, showing a short, compact stroke with no wasted movements. Recorded a max exit velocity of 103.3 MPH and produced multiple balls over 100 EV throughout the round. Shows a good feel for the barrel and the ability to produce loud contact with an easy swing. Moved well at 1B and showed the ability to pick it while making accurate throws across the diamond. The size and strength stand out immediately, but the swing remains under control and repeatable throughout the round. Treadwell projects as a middle-of-the-order type bat with intriguing power potential as he continues to develop and gain game experience against quality competition.

Jake Collins, OF/RHP, 2029, Dodge County
Really good day all around for Collins. At the plate, he worked the whole field with some juice the other way. Shows a steep plane through the zone with the ability to find the barrel, doing a good job of staying within himself while still producing loud contact. Recorded a 92.3 exit velocity during BP and consistently showed the ability to drive the baseball with authority. Ran a 6.66 in the 60 and showed off a really good arm in the OF. Athletic prospect who is just scratching the surface with plenty more to be tapped into physically and offensively. On the mound, he ran the fastball up to 82 MPH and showed off a solid breaking ball with developing feel for spin. The overall athleticism stands out on both sides of the ball, and he looks like a player who will continue to make jumps as he gains strength and experience.

Caden Morris, OF/1B, 2027, Chattahoochee
At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Morris put together an impressive round of BP. The barrel stays on a good plane through the zone with the ability to cover the entire plate. Produces easy juice to the pull side while also showing the ability to drive the ball the other way. Slightly open stance with a slight leg kick, generating strength from the ground up through contact. Recorded a 100.3 exit velocity during the round and consistently created loud contact off the barrel. Ran a 6.64 in the 60, showing athleticism that translates well to his overall game. The combination of strength, bat speed, and body control stands out, and there looks to be even more offensive upside as he continues to develop physically.

Cameron Ridgeway, 1B/RHP, 2028, North Forsyth
6-foot-4 212-pounds. This was our first look at Ridgway and he had a strong day across the board. During BP he posted a max EV of 97,9 and a AVG EV of 93.3, spraying balls with authority to all parts of the field. The swing is simple with a strong barrel through the zone. He moved well over at 1B with a INF velocity of 76. He jumped on the mound and ran the FB up to 85.5 with clean actions and good feel for the strike zone. There is easy to see the projection in the frame with clean actions across the board that are going to continue to get better with time.

Cole Manning, OF/LHP, 2028, Greenbrier
We got a chance to see Manning a few times this spring, but it was our first time seeing him in a showcase setting. He had a strong all around day with a max EV of 96.8 and AVG EV of 88.9. He had a heavy line drive round with the ability to spray balls to all parts of the field. He had a pulldown of 84 with accurate throws to home. On the mound he finishes things off with a heavy dose of the strike zone with a fastball in the upper 70’s with good feel for the CH and SL.

Devon McLoughlin, SS/RHP, 2028, Greenbrier
5-foot-11 147-pounds. McLoughlin showed well in multiple looks this spring both on the mound and at the plate. It was obvious the work put in from January til now with improved metrics across the board. He ran a 6.84 with a 3.77 30-yard split that is better from a 3.89 split in January. During BP the numbers were up across the board, his max EV went from 87.9 to 94.7 and the average was up 78.8 to 87.6. He was 86 across the diamond with clean actions from short. He had a full year of starting on the mound and still came in, holding velo from what he has been all spring. He nearly found the zone on every pitch in his bullpen with the fastball sitting right around 83. There are tools throughout the profile for McLoughlin and with some added strength the game is going to reach a whole new level in the next year or so.
