As we have for the past few years, each week we will be highlighting the staff's pick for the VA/DC High School Player of the Week. Each selection is made from a game that a staff member was at the previous week. While last week, due to spring break in a few places, was a bit lighter in terms of total game count, it was not light in terms of big output from players. Take a look at who brings home the Week 7 Player of the Week.

VA/DC Player of the Week: Hank Brown

Entering Friday there were a few teams that had solidified themselves as two of the top teams in the 757, Cox and Greenbrier Christian were two of them. Hank Brown took it upon himself to make sure that everyone knew that the Falcons should be at the forefront of that conversation. We have seen the VCU commit a number of times, but Friday night seemed a little different, especially on the mound. Brown was 85-88 through the first few innings and was locating the fastball, but it was the slider that was the difference maker in this one. The senior right hander colleceted countless whiffs, in and out of the zone, over the course of his six innings on the mound. Brown piled up nine strikeouts over his six innings of work, threw around 65% strikes, and faced just three batters over the minimum during that time. In addition to his dominant night on the mound versus a Power 25 opponent, Brown tied the game up in the third with a solo homerun out of centerfield. Brown had two hits on the night to go along with two walks. While the Falcons have some solid Tier 1 and Tier 2 wins, this was their lone win over an opponent currently in the Power 25.
